"Jimmy" Yanity, 49 of Canonsburg, died March 29, 2020.  He is the son of Frances (Grzywinski) Yanity and the late Michael Yanity.  He is survived by his fiance Michelle Polimadei; sons Alexander and Jacob Yanity; step children Tanner and Linnea Pilarski; brothers Michael (Mary Ellen) Yanity, Fred (Jan) Yanity, Rick (Darlene) Yanity; Dan Yanity and Don (Laurie) Yanity; nephews Keith, Jason, Freddy, and Justin and nieces Tori, Melissa, Angeline, Amber and Courtney.  Due to the strict guidelines we must adhere to at this crucial time, visitation will be private.  Funeral arrangements by Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport.

Doris Jean McCracken, 88, of Boston, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2020. She was born June 11, 1931 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ella (Opal) Palm. She was the wife of the late Kenneth A. McCracken who passed away February 21, 1995. She was a member of the former First United Presbyterian Church of Boston, the former Boston Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, and was a member of the Elizabeth Township Senior Citizens. She was a former chaperone for the McKeesport Majorette and Drill Team. She worked at the former Boston Diner for 25 years.

John Ratesic, age 79 of White Oak, passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2020.  Born August 25, 1940 in Braddock, PA, John was the son of the late John and Bernardine Ratesic, who raised him in McKeesport, PA.  John is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 49 years, Dorothy (Dokmanovich) Ratesic, daughter Dr. Mara Dawn (David) Koetke and granddaughter Alexandra Koetke of New York City and son, Marko (Julie) Ratesic and grandchildren Nicholas, Milena and Luke John Ratesic of Chicago.  Also surviving are his siblings Patrick (Mickey) Ratesic of Norwin, Ann (Ed) Bell of Coulter and Kay (Gerry) Feagles of Canton, Ohio.

John graduated from McKeesport High School in 1958, received a football scholarship and played for the University of Southern Mississippi, graduating in 1962.  He received his Masters Degree and Principal Certification in 1975 from Duquesne University. 

John proudly served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army from 1963-1965.  He was a valued member of the undefeated 7th Infantry Football Team in 1963 and was named 1st Team on the All-Army Squad.

George, age 88 of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2020 in UPMC McKeesport Hospital.  Born March 20, 1932 in Pitcairn, she was a daughter of the late James and Elizabeth (Ersik) Golick.  A member of St. Michael's Parish in Elizabeth Twp. and its Christian Mothers Club, Irene worked as a bookkeeper at area auto dealerships, including Golick's in Pitcarin, Pivirotto's in Homestead, and Kelly Chevrolet in Clairton.  She is survived by her husband of 66 years Edgar L. George; her sons James M. George of Elizabeth Twp., Steven L. (Diane) George of North Huntingdon, and Keith A. (Irene) George of Oakdale; her grandchildren Steven, Alexa, and Eyan George; and also nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother James Golick.

Karen was born in McKeesport on April 14, 1948, daughter of the late Joseph and Agnes (Smith) Paterra of Versailles Borough. She was preceded in death by her sister, Paula Paterra who died in 1972. She was a member of Mary, Mother of God Church - St. Patrick Worship Site, The Palenese League of America, and served as a past officer of the Palenese Women's Auxiliary She was retired from the County of Allegheny where she worked for over 24 years as an administrative secretary.

Ruth Rushe 78, of Glassport, passed away on Saturday March 28, 2020 in her home. She was born in Glassport on August 8, 1941 to the late William Rushe and Agnes Tachoir Rushe. Ruth is survived by her two sisters JoAnne Rushe of Glassport and Agnes Barrett of Glassport, as well as her two brothers Robert (Lori) Rushe of Duquesne, and Ralph Rushe of New Baltimore Michigan. Ruth is also survived by her many beloved nieces and nephews whom she cared for deeply. She was preceded in death by her three brothers Billy, Terry, and Tommy Rushe. Ruth spent her earlier years as an Administrative Clerk at the Credit Union where she could help people with their day to day routines. Ruth was a member of the Queen of The Rosary Catholic Church in Glassport where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. Some of her favorite things to do were to bake cakes and candies as well as her many crafts. Private services have been entrusted to E.C. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 235 Monongahela Ave, Glassport, PA 15045. A private internment will take place at St. Josephs Cemetery in North Versailles. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Queen of The Rosary Catholic Church at 530 Michigan Ave, Glassport, PA 15045. C. Gary Dinsel, 76, of North Huntingdon, passed away Friday March 27, 2020 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital as a result of complications from open heart surgery. He was born October 14, 1943 in Altoona, PA, a son of the late Charles A. and Ruth M. (Burger) Dinsel. Gary was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting and was a licensed CPA.

He formerly owned Extrude Hone Corporation, North Huntingdon, and was a partner/owner of Greensburg Country Club. He also had served in the Army Reserves as a field medic for several years. He was a very active member of Circleville United Methodist Church, where he served on the pastoral counsel and finance committee, having been a past chairman of both groups.

He was also a longtime active member and past president of Norwin Rotary, a former board member of the Norwin Area Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Pitt Alumni Association, and a member of the Workforce Investment Board Westmoreland/Fayette County Economic Growth Connection.

Concetta “Connie” (Prestia) Delconte, 94, of Clairton, PA (formerly of Donora, PA) passed away peacefully on March 26, 2020, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Reggio di Calabria, Italy on August 9, 1925, beloved daughter of the late Frank Prestia and Filomena (Tarzia) Prestia.  In addition to her parents, Connie’s sister, Rose Prestia Fronzaglio, preceded her in death in 1999.  Older brothers, Domenico and Vincenzo, died at early ages.  Connie was the youngest of her 3 siblings.

For 56 years, Connie was married to James G. “Jimmy/Jim” Delconte of Clairton, PA who preceded her in death on January 9, 2006.  She is survived by her 3 cherished children, son Vince (Bonnie) of Franklin Park, PA; daughter Linda Delconte Kushner (Larry, deceased, February 27, 2019) of Washington, PA; and son John (Susan) of Nashville (Franklin), TN.  She was the proud “Gramma” of Domenic James Delconte, deceased,(September 24, 2002) and Maria (Delconte) Minerd (Mark) of Upper St. Clair, PA; and “Nana” of Anthony Kushner of Washington, PA; Michael Kushner of New York City; and Gianna and Jason Delconte of Nashville (Franklin), TN.  Connie also felt blessed to be the “Great Nana” of Sienna, Vivienne, and Maela Minerd of Upper St. Clair, PA.   Several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive.  Connie’s eldest nephew, Philip Maffeo (of Clairton, PA), preceded her in death in March, 2014.

Gary Allen Perkins, loving son and father, passed away March 22, 2020, at the age of 57.

Gary was born on June 23, 1962, in McKeesport, PA to Mildred Nails and the late Milton Perkins. He graduated from Clairton High School in 1980. After graduation, he attended Austin Peay State University on a football scholarship. Shortly after going to college, Gary joined the Marine Corps Reserve. He worked as a repair technician for John Hopkins University.

Gary had a passion for learning and teaching African spirituality. He also loved to play the drums for his Pan African Religious organization; Auser Auset. When Gary moved to Washington, D.C. he researched and practiced living a healthy plant-based lifestyle. He specifically studied the African Bio-mineral Balance. Gary was also an avid music and sports lover. Whenever he walked into a room or greeted a family member or friend, he would always say the phrase, “What’s Happening!” He always brought joy and happiness to everyone in his path.

Vida was a graduate of McKeesport High School.  After high school, Vida studied nursing at CCAC and worked as a Health Unit Coordinator for UPMC McKeesport. Later, Vida received her bachelor’s degree in Criminology at Point Park University. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed puzzles, reading and sewing.

Elizabeth Sexton Jordan Carrozza, age 92, of White Oak, died peacefully on March 24, 2020, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Born January 9, 1928 in Columbia Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late Charles Talmage Jordan and Elizabeth Lee Carpenter. She was the wife of the late Falco Anthony Carrozza.  Elizabeth was a 1949 graduate of USM (University of Southern Mississippi) Hattiesburg, Mississippi where she received a Bachelor of Arts and Science Degree and Certificate in Home Economics and Science. Before her retirement, she was a teacher at West Newton High School in 1951, Port Vue Junior High School from 1951-1956, and McKeesport School District from 1968-1992.  She was a longtime member of both McKeesport College Club and the Home Gardener‘s Guild, where she previously served as President for both organizations. McKeesport College Club recently honored her by awarding her emeritus standing for her dedicated service to the club throughout her sixty-five years as a member. She was a founding member of Christ United Methodist Church, North Huntingdon, where she was an active member of the Methodist Women’s Society, Happy Hearts Senior Group, and in the early years of the church she taught Sunday School. Also she was a Meals on Wheels volunteer driver delivering meals until she was 89 years old.
