Levy, 68, born July 12, 1950, of North Braddock died Aug. 4, 2018.  She is the daughter of the late Robert and Betty (Gougler) Barron.  She is survived by her beloved husband Carl Levy; daughter Lisa (Terrance) Wade; son Shawn Williams; step children Jeremy, Julian, Dion, Carlos, Christian, and Dannielle; grandchildren Eric, Amber and Joshua Wade; sisters Sheila Brooks and Sondra Barron; brother Keith Barron; also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles  She was preceded in death by her brother Robert Barron.  Friends received Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, Duquesne, Thurs. 2-4 and 6-7:30 at which time a funeral service will be held.

 


Elmer "Bucky" Saunders

Elmer "Bucky" Saunders, 81  of Walkerton, IN, formerly of West Mifflin died Aug. 1, 2018.  He is the son of the late Elmer and Catherine (Hotz) Saunders.  Bucky is survived by his beloved wife Gwendolyn (Bolger) Saunders; daughter Robyn (Alan) Saunders; sister Elsie M. (Glenn) Creese; also nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by brothers Homer (Georgia) Saunders, John Saunders and Harry (Betty) Saunders and sisters Catharine (Charles) Anderson, Leona (Harry) Anderson, Betty Saunders and Elva "Mickey (Cy) Magill.  Elmer was retired from Bethlehem Steel and was a very proud Dairy Farm owner.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to www.stjude.org, www.pheasantsforever.org or www.pancan.org for pancreatic cancer.  Friends received Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, Duquesne, Mon. 2-4 and 6-8.  A funeral service will be held Tues. 11:00 am at the Homeville Christian Church.  Interment following McKeesport-Versailles Cemetery.

Dolores M. Cheke, 85, of Clarion, formerly of West Mifflin, died July 18, 2018.  She is the daughter of the late William and Mary (Schuchert) Manns and beloved wife of the late William Cheke.  She is survived by her son Bill (Marlene) Cheke and daughter Lisa (Bob) Geer; grandchildren Elise (Josh) Williams, Bela (Erin) Webb, Malinda (Mitchell) Rearick, Josselin Geer, Robert Geer, Jr., Michael Geer, Jacob Geer and Gerry Geer; 16 great grandchildren; sisters Joan Naccarato and Bernice Monzak; also nieces and nephews.  Dolores was preceded in death by her son Dr. Laird Cheke.  Friends received Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, Duquesne, Mon. 2-4 and 6-8.  A funeral service will be held Tues. 11:00 am in the funeral home with Pastor Karen Parsh.  Interment following St. Hedwig Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family.

 


Dolores "Dolly" Popovich

Dolores H. “Dolly” Navaroli Popovich, 91, passed away Saturday July 14, 2018. She was born October 28, 1926 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Gust and Catherine Bosnak Navaroli. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Johnny, Gus and Joe Navaroli and sister Kathryn Pugh. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, McKeesport.

She is survived by her daughters Mary Catherine Schneider of McKeesport and Christine (Michael) Germek of McKeesport, with whom she resided. Three #1 grandchildren, Jason W. Schneider of Miami, Florida, and Amber and Kristin Germek, both of McKeesport; Sister Mollie Claar of Greenock; Sister-in-laws Joanne Navaroli of Westmorland City and Shirley Navaroli of Delmont; Many nieces and nephews and her precious grand puppies Daisy and Autumn.

Dolores was a retired medical transcriptionist in the Pathology Dept. of McKeesport Hospital for over 25 years. She loved to sew and was a wonderful seamstress. She was a devout Catholic, a “real Italian”, coffee expert, loved watching her old scary Boris Karloff movies and being a loving mom and grandmother.

James P. Bongartz, 80, of Whitaker, died June 29, 2018. He was the son of the late Casper and Elizabeth (Ackerman) Bongartz. He is the husband of the late Patricia (Gracan) Bongartz. He is survived by his daughter Kelly Bongartz; sister Alberta Petruzzi, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters and a brother. Friends received Monday 3-8 at the Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, Duquesne; a funeral mass will be held Tue. 11am at St. Rita's Church, interment following St. Mary's Cemetery.

 


William R. Safko

William R. Safko, 69 of West Mifflin, died June 26, 2018.  He is the son of the late Michael and Caroline Safko.  He is survived by his sister Carolyn (the late Robert) Munro; also nieces and nephews, and was preceded in death by his brother Robert (Anne) Safko and sister Dorothy (late John) McNansky. Bill was a graduate of West Mifflin North H.S. and Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics. He served in the US Navy during the Viet Nam era. Friends received Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, Duquesne Monday from 2:00 to 4:00 and Tuesday from noon to 1:00 pm at which time a funeral blessing will be held.  Interment following at Holy Name Cemetery.

Audrey J. Westerlund, 93 of West Mifflin, died June 18, 2018.  She is the daughter of the late James and Annetta (William) Stammer and beloved wife of the late E. Glenn Westerlund.  Audrey is survived by her son Charles Dean (Susan) Clemons; grandchildren Sam Clemons, Beth Maha, Glenn Clemons, Bob Clemons, Ricky Guest and Michelle Smith; also great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  She is  a retired cashier for Jefferson Regional Medical Center, a member of the Dravosburg United Methodist Church and former member of the Duquesne AARP.  Friends received Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, Duquesne, Thurs 10 to Noon, at which time a funeral service will be held.  Interment following Jefferson Memorial Park.

Lia, 87 of Duquesne, died May 18, 2018.  She is the daughter of the late Daniel and Smilja Medich and wife of the late Salvator Lia.  Helen is survived by her sons Joseph Lia and Michael (Norma) Lia; grandchildren Angela (Robert) Vogan, Michelle (Matthew) Cerasuolo, Benjamin Lia and Daniel Lia and great grandchildren Camden and Emilia.  She was a member of St. Sava’s Serbian Orthodox Church; Duquesne Women’s Club and Holy Trinity Kolo.  Friends received Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, Duquesne Tues. 2-4 and 6-8. A Pomen will be held Tues. at 7:00 pm.  A funeral liturgy will be held Wed. 10:00 am at St. Sava’s Serbian Orthodox Church with the Very Rev. She is survived by her daughter Valerie (Matthew) Mayo; son Lewis (Lucy) Edder; and sisters Mary Ann Mozes, Marie Vukelja, Antoinette Cisar, and Cathy Bercik. Traud.  She is survived by her children Kenneth Traud, Bernard Traud, Theresa Metosky, Kim Wilson, William Traud and Randy Traud;  grandchildren  Nick, Chris, Josh, Crystal, Laura, Susie, Tiffany, Daniel and Michael and 12 great grandchildren.   She was prededed in death by a son Paul and granddaughter Kimmie.  Joy was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Duquesne.  Friends received Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, Duquesne, Mon. 2-4 and 6-8.  A funeral service will be held Tues. 11:00 am in the funeral home with Rev. Karl E. "Sonny" Haney, 86, of West Mifflin, died March 2, 2018. He is the son of the late Karl and Bertha (Evans) Haney.  Karl is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years Madeline (Shidel) Haney; children Karl (Jillian) Haney, Kathleen (the late Nicholas) Bracco, Patti Walendziewicz and Marcia (Chris) Rogers; grandchildren Anthony (Tanaz), Joseph and Leeanne Bracco, Andrew, Erin and Danielle Walendziewicz; Kaitlyn Haney; Samantha and Nicholas Rogers; great grandchildren Gabriella, Isabella, Adalina, Hannah, Kasey, Aiden and Elijah.  Karl was retired from Keystone Auto Parts in Christy Park; was  a member of Christ the Light of the World Parish; American Legion Post 701 and served in the US Army Korean War where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.  He loved spending time with his family and friends, his plants and animals, camping and working with his hands. Friends received Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, Duquesne, Mon. 6-8 and Tues. 2-8.  A funeral blessing will be held Wed. 9:30 am in the funeral home followed by a 10:00 am mass at Holy Name Church with Father Tom Lewandowski.  Interment immediately following at Lebanon Church Cemetery.

Bicsey, 61 of Largo, FL, formerly of Pittsburgh, died Feb. 9, 2018 from cancer.  She is the daughter of the late Edward and Elsie Bicsey.  She is survived by her daughter Kimberly Kruszka of McKeesport, Ex-husband Alan Kruszka of Duquesne, sister Constance Behrns; grandchildren Beth Clark and Shane Clark; also nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her sister Karen Jones.  Janet was employed by IAS Services in Florida.  Friends received Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, Duquesne, Mon. 11 to 1:00 pm at which time a blessing will be held with Father Tom Lewandowski.  Interment following St. Hedwig Cemetery.
