Marlene J. Straub, age 93, of White Oak, formerly of West Mifflin, died peacefully on September 26, 2025, at her home. Born April 2, 1932, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late George J. and Anna (Barron) Shivey and the wife of the late John Jacob Straub for over 40 years.
Marlene lived a wonderful life and maintained her kindness, grace, and love of family till the very end. She was a dedicated homemaker and was widely known for her traditional recipes that reflected her Slovak heritage. Marlene enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, enjoyed golf, and was an active member of Duquesne Golf Club for many years. She was a Pittsburgh Steeler season ticket holder and loved to watch the Pittsburgh Pirates on TV. Marlene was lucky and loved trips to the casino with her girlfriends. She will always be remembered for her never-ending generosity.
Marlene is survived by her daughters, Ellen (Gary) Pandolfo of Bridgeville, and Susan (John) Litzinger of White Oak; son, David (Mary Anne) Straub of Washington, PA; grandchildren, Kristin (Tim) Donnelly of West Mifflin, and Kylie (Jon) Walker of North Huntingdon; great-grandchildren, Troy, Teague, Timothy, Benjamin, and Jacob; niece Jennifer (Jeff) Marsh; and nephew, Jeffrey (Jodie) Shivey; great nieces/nephews Madison, Avery, Aidan, and Caleb.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marlene was also preceded in death by her son, John Straub; and siblings, George Shivey, and Robert Shivey.
Private services were entrusted to Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory. Following services, she was inurned at the Good Shephard Cemetery in Monroeville. Memorial contributions are suggested to the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center at https://hillman.upmc.com/difference/supporting/make-a-gift.
