James A. Dunn, 84, of North Huntingdon, died Friday, February 28, 2020 at Forbes Hospital.  He was born July 21, 1935 in Rillton, Pa., a son of the late William and Tibetha Johns Dunn. James was a member of St. Agnes Church, North Huntingdon. He loved telling stories about his past. He loved working outside and gardening. He was so proud of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were the love of his life. he was retired from the trucking industry, a member of the American Legion  and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served four years. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Paul, Daniel, Bill, Doris, Margaret, Gladys, and John. He is survived by his beloved wife Rosemary Parry Dunn, children, Peggy Cook (Bruce), Jill Peters (Jay), Jennifer Novotny (Robert), grandchildren, Dr. Allan Brown (Ashley), Mark Brown (Katie), Nicole Conforti (Bill), Carly Bishop (Michael), Jaynee Casteel (Trevor), Emily Brown, Jackie Cook, Sarah Pullar (Edward), Anthony Novotny, great grandchildren, Adelle, Kellan, Sunnie, Jack,  Luke, Olivia, Nikayla, Jacob, Charlotte, Molly, Noah, Charlie, Oliver. Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, Monday from 5-8 p.m. A Blessing service will be held Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. with Monsignor Paul Fitzmaurice officiating. Carmella Ferraro, age 93 and formerly of Clairton, passed away on Friday, February 28, 2020 in Overlook Green Senior Living in Whitehall.  Born June 23, 1926 in Italy, she was a daughter of the late Angelo and Domenica (Capolupo) Ferraro.  A member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Clairton, Carmella retired from the billing department at US Steel Clairton Works.  In her spare time, she loved to travel, paint, and downhill ski.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Rose Curinga and Andrew, Joseph, and Frank Ferraro.  She is survived by nieces and nephews.

Michael Andy “Sam” Pavlocsak, 96, of Elizabeth, formerly of Clairton, passed away at home on Tuesday, February 25, 2020. He was born in Glassport to the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Pavlocsak on April 17, 1923. Michael was the loving husband to the late Helen Hall “Fig” Pavlocsak. He is survived by nieces; Etta Maitland of Concord, CA, Karen, Carol, and Anita, nephews; Edward E. Gilmore, M.D., of Bar Harbor, ME, and Michael, niece in-law Carol Gilmore of Virginia, and friend and caregiver Marie Papula. Michael was preceded in death by his wife Helen, and nephew Harry Gilmore. He was a member of the Wilson Presbyterian Church, and the Wilson Civic Group. Michael enjoyed Pittsburgh Sports, loved dogs, most notably Poochie and Bubba, and he loved and was loved by his family and friends. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, March 3rd from 9am-11am at S.M. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 432 N. 6th St, Clairton, PA 15025. Loving wife of the late Frank J. Rozzo Sr., she is survived by two sons, Frank J Rozzo Jr. of Brookline and John "Jack" Rozzo and his wife Sheila of Duquesne, five grandchildren, John, Charlie, Gregory, Amber and Ashley and six great grandchildren, Lilyanna, Sydney, Anthony, Isabella, Adrianna, and Darrion. Mrs. Rozzo was also preceded in death by a brother, Peter Spynda and two sisters, Nancy Noe and Patricia Ledwich.

Lester Dukes, 73, of Duquesne, was born to the late Willie H. and Mary (Peterson) Dukes on April 19, 1946. He departed this life on February 25, 2020, at the VA Hospital Aspinwall in Pittsburgh, PA.  He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Willa Mae Bryant, Habeeba Tyree, Sylvester Dukes, Joseph Dukes, and Melvin Dukes.

Lester graduated from Duquesne High School and went on to study at Arizona State University; until he was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War.  Lester worked at U.S Steel Duquesne Works and the Community Food Bank. He was an avid fisherman; he loved music and hunting. No one can forget man’s best friend because he loved his dogs.

Lasich, age 97 of Clairton, passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2020 in Jefferson Hospital.  Born November 26, 1922 in Clairton, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Myslin) Vossel.  A member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Clairton, Margaret will be remembered as fiercely independent and politically aware, as an avid and knowledgeable Steelers and Pirates fan, as a lover of talk radio, but, most importantly, as an amazing and loving mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, and aunt.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Frank Lasich, who passed away February 21, 1993, and her siblings Anne Popcak, John, Paul, and Michael Vossel, Helen Bercik, Verona "Florence" Annel, and Joseph Vossel.  Margaret is survived by her daughter Marie (John) Perticone of West Mifflin, her grandson Alex Perticone of Pittsburgh, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Daniel L. Radakovich

NFL and collegiate football coach Daniel L. Radakovich, known as “Bad Rad,” passed away at his home on February 20, 2020.

Radakovich was born on November 27, 1935 to Michael and Bridget Radakovich of Duquesne.

Radakovich grew up alongside the roller coasters and barker’s tents of Kennywood amusement park. He frequently shared tales of the famous circus acts and entertainers that stayed in his parents’ home, including the Flying Wallendas and Gene Kelly.

Stories were a hallmark of Radakovich’s existence. He was a legendary storyteller and was himself the subject of many humorous, surprising, and even outrageous anecdotes told by others!

He authored a memoir on his life in football, Bad Rad Football Nomad, that includes a number of these stories as well as an accounting of his many innovations in the sports field. Radakovich loved the game of football but also golf, basketball, history, travel, old movies, music, and most of all, his family and his friends.
