Ruth A. Paliscak, 82, of North Huntingdon, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019.  She was born March 1, 1937 in McKeesport, a daughter of the late Stephen and Julia Kapisak.  Ruth was a member of St. Agnes Parish and enjoyed working crossword puzzles.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Kapisak; sisters, Rose (Frank) Modrak and Mary (Frank) Opieloski.  She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, George Paliscak; sons, David Paliscak and his wife, Sally, Daniel Paliscak and Christopher Paliscak, and his wife, Jennifer; daughter, Julie Puhl and her husband, Michael; sister, Patricia Race and her husband Ted; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.  Friends will be received on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Agnes Church with Msgr. Karen Louise Boes, 63, of North Huntingdon, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 2, 2019.  She was born March 8, 1956 in Johnstown, daughter of the late Robert and Elizabeth (Daley) Miller.  Karen was a graduate of Richland High School and a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.  She enjoyed cooking, baking and oil painting and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.  She was a fan of Ellen DeGeneres and had the opportunity to attend the show in December of 2011 with her daughter Christy.  Karen was known for her generosity and gave to many charities.  In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her grandparents, Francis and Laura Daley; and sister, Judith Drosjack.  She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Richard Boes; sons, Mike Boes and his wife, Tracey, Nick Boesand his girlfriend Erica; daughter, Christy Mowerand her parnter Brenda; brother, Robert Miller and his wife, Denise; and grandchildren, Abigail, Bailey, Sandra, Tristan and Mason.  There will be no visitation as per Karen's wishes.  The family will hold a private  memorial service on the ocean to celebrate Karen's life.  Donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in memory of Karen.  Arrangements made by the James W. Thomas "Tommy" Joseph Mawritz

 Thomas (Tommy) Joseph Mawritz, age 60, of Port Vue, PA formerly of Glassport, PA passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2019. Born on September 11, 1958 in McKeesport, PA he was the son of the late Joseph and Helen (Campayno) Mawritz.

Tommy was a graduate of South Allegheny High School. He was a pre-press manager at Comprint Inc in Gaithersburg, MD. After spending 19 years in the Washington, DC area, Tommy returned home. Soon he became involved in coaching youth football with the South Allegheny Youth Football Association. He loved coaching and was recognized with the Pittsburgh Steelers MVP Award for his commitment to the Association and the players despite his many health issues. In addition, the Tom Mawritz Extra Effort Award was created by the Association and is given each year to the player who never quits trying. Tommy was also an avid Pitt fan and will be missed by all who knew him.

Tommy was preceded in death by his beloved brother Dr. Kenneth J Mawritz Sr. He is survived by his sister Nancy (Mawritz) George and her husband Joseph of Germantown, MD; sister-in-law Natalie (Shadwick) Mawritz of Collegeville, PA; nephews Kenneth Mawritz Jr. and his wife Mary of Havertown, PA, Jason George of Rockville, MD, Brendan George of New York City, NY, niece Holly L. Mawritz and her husband Jonathan Goodroad of Glenside PA; and his five grandnephews and niece Logan, Liam, Lucas, Levi and Madeleine.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service at Wojciechowski Funeral Home 640 Vermont Ave. Glassport, PA on Saturday July 20, 2019 from Noon to 1:30 pm, at which time a funeral blessing will be held. Burial will be held privately. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 26 Broadway 14th floor, New York, NY 10004.

She was a loving and giving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be forever loved and missed.

Ann "Anna" Loizes, 98, of McKeesport, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 30, 2019 with her family by her side. She was born August 23, 1920 in Steubenville, OH, and was the daughter of the late Stelios and Steliane (Yialouris) Bournos. She was the wife of the late James N. Loizes, Sr, who was the former Chief of Police in McKeesport. She was a member of The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of White Oak and was a Sunday School Teacher and member of St. Markella Plilotochos Society. She was also a Sunshine Girl, that visited the homebound and hospitalized patients. Ann received the St. Photios Award for her dedicated service to her parish. During WWII when all the men went to war, she worked at Weirton Steel as a "Rosie the Riveter".

Capozzi, 89, of North Huntingdon, passed away Monday, July 1, 2019.  She was born February 7, 1930 in Herminie, a daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Irvin) Medley.  Prior to her retirement in 1993, Elizabeth was the office manager for Hussman Corporation.  After her retirement she ran her son's business, Capozzi Transport and was a member of St. Agnes Parish, North Huntingdon.  Libby was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who was always there for her family.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Capozzi; and her daughter, Karen Winter.  She is survived by her son, Michael Capozzi and his fiancee, Terri Emory; granddaughters, Angela (C.J.) Hines, Georgeanna (Steve) McCloskey; great-grandchildren, Hayden and Canyon Hines, Kara (Donavin) Gray, Jonathan Capozzi, Anthony and Taylor McCloskey.  Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon on Tuesday  from 3-7 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Agnes Church with Msgr. Mary I. “Marie” (Frydrych) Plecenik, 96, of East McKeesport, died Saturday, June 29, 2019. She was born May 19, 1923 in South Wilmerding, a daughter of the late Antonio and Mary (Dlugosz) Frydrych and was also preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Stephen C. Plecenik and brothers Blanchard, Edward, Henry, and Chester Frydrych. Marie was an employee of Westinghouse Airbrake Co., Wilmerding from the early 1940’s until she married her husband in 1949. She was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church and was an avid bowler with her husband at Great Valley Lanes. She was very proud of her Polish heritage. Surviving are her children Marian (Art) Belotti and Mark Plecenik; her grandchildren Christina (Marty) Moyer and Annette (Nathan) Suwalski; three great grandchildren Breanna and Dylan Suwalski and Levi Moyer; also nieces and nephews.

Marjorie June Glancy Brannan, age 93, of N. Versailles, PA, died at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, June 29, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Raymond V. and Harriet Murphy Glancy and was born in Gallitzin, PA on July 6, 1925.

She was married for 53 years to the late Edward J. Brannan who died January 29, 2002. She is survived by her children, Kenneth (Rhonda) Brannan of Annapolis, MD; Robert (the late Sheree) Brannan of Pasadena, MD; Maureen (the late Andrew) Ryan of Wall, PA; Lorraine (Gene) Rizzo of N. Versailles; Bernadette (David) Galinskie of Shiremanstown, PA; Christine (Michael) Reed of Chapel Hill, NC; grandchildren, Andrea Murajda; Jonathan (Emily) Brannnan; Elaine (Dan) Fisher; Vincent Brannan; Ellen (Craig) Wilson; Emmalynn Galinskie; Lucas Reed; Elise Galinskie; Kaitlyn Reed. Also, great grandchild, Layla Wilson and step grandson, Jay (Aimee) Murphy; step great-grandchildren, Kate and Sarah Murphy and sisters; Dolores Sylvestor of Columbia, S. Carolina, Romaine (Joseph) Boley of Hollidaysburg, PA and many loving and caring nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia and Walter Buck and Betty and Howard Anstead.

Marjorie graduated in 1943 as a Registered Nurse from Ohio Valley General Hospital and continued as an employee. While raising her children she was employed by McKeesport Hospital and the former Columbia Hospital located in Wilkinsburg. She was very active in volunteering for her children’s school and church, St. Robert Bellarmine. She was involved with the Girls Scouts of Western PA while serving as a leader for over 25 years and then serving on the Catholic Committee on Scouting for more than 40 years. Marjorie also volunteered for many years at St. Peter’s Child Development Center working with special needs children. She volunteered for the East Allegheny Meals-On-Wheels well into her nineties.
