Thomas H. Spahr, age 74 of North Huntingdon died January 18,2020 at his home. He was born May 23, 1945 in Greensburg, a son of the late Charles and Alice Herold Spahr. Tom was the store manager of Miller Feed Store in Irwin for many years. He was the past president of the Norwin Lions Club, 11th Armored Calvary Association, Norwin VFW Post 781 and a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the U.S. Army. He was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Miller,  He is survived by his wife Donna Dunkle Spahr, one daughter Maryah Spahr,one sister Bonnie Koury, brother in law Bill Miller, sister in law, Susan Dunkle, numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon on Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Paul David Krise Jr., age 67, passed away Thursday, January 16, 2020 at his home.

Born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, Paul was the son of Ruth Lord Krise and the late Paul David Krise, Sr. and son-in-law of the late Nick and Agnes Bruno. He was a retired Postmaster with the United States Postal Service.

Paul was an avid golfer who never met a stranger. He lived his life with zest and passion even when facing the fight of his life. He had a passion for sports and watching his grandchildren was the joy of his life. His family and friends will always remember that Paul always had a smile on his face and he was the life of the party. The manner in which he lived his life in general will resonate with them forever. He won!

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Denise Marie Bruno Krise; his son, Ben Krise; his daughter, Paula Painter and her husband Frank Painter; two sisters, Bonnie Sari (husband Tom) and Beverly James (husband Denny); brother John Krise (wife JoAnn); sisters-in-law Nikki Washburn and Monica Young (husband Terry); brother-in-law James Bruno (wife Debbie)  and four grandchildren, Felicia Painter, Frankie Painter, Nicholas Krise and David Krise along with many nieces and nephews.

Tucci Pollock, 59, of Irwin, passed away Friday, January 17, 2020.  She was born May 2, 1960 in Jeannette, a daughter of the late Leonard and Mae (Piovesan) Tucci.  Patty enjoyed being outside doing yard work and tending to her flowers, going to the beach, playing cards and loved being with her children and grandchildren.  She is survived by her husband, Dennis Pollock; son, Zach Pollock and his wife, Courtney; daughter, Misty Pollock; sisters, Barbie (Jerry) Gibasiewicz, Suzie (Kevin) Robinson; sisters-in-law, Connie Pollock and Patricia (Jerry) Freeman; brother-in-law, Karl (Colleen) Pollock; grandchildren, Savannah, Trinity, Beau; numerous nieces and nephews; and her fur babies.  Friends will be received from 2-8 p.m. on Monday at the James W. Alfred J. "Ike" Huwalt Jr., age 91, of McKeesport, formerly of Duquesne, passed away surrounded by his loving family on January 15, 2020.

Alfred is survived by his beloved wife, Veronica M. (Pearson) Huwalt of 70 years; Four Children, Patrice H. Bennett, Mark A. Huwalt, Lynne M. (Michael) Mercilliott, and Lisa H. (Jeff) Lampo; Brother, Thomas Huwalt; Grandchildren, Ian (Bridget O'Neil) Bennett, Mark (Elaine) Bennett, Sean (Stephanie) Mercilliott, Kevin Mercilliott, Matthew Atwood, Jesse Huwalt, Brenden Lampo; and Great-Grandchildren, Elizabeth, Helena, and Patrick Bennett.

Alfred served his country honorably with the U.S. Navy as a Seaman First Class. He was employed for many years and retired from U.S. Steel National Tube and worked for University of Pittsburgh in the benefits department. Alfred enjoyed the outdoors, crossword puzzles, cowboys/westerns and was a member of the Liberty Borough Vets Club.

Sophie Andrejkanic, 93, formerly of White Oak, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2020.  She was born April 28, 1926 in White Oak, a daughter of the late George and Anna Kitz.  Sophie was a member of AARP Versailles Chapter 9211, St. Robert Bellarmine Church, and former member of the Wilmerding YMCA.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, George Andrejkanic; sons-in-law, John Kostik and Robert L. Brown; brother John Kitz; and sister Annette Hoffman.   She is survived by her daughters, Jane Kostik and Carol Brown; grandchildren, Jennifer (Mark) Linderman, Carrie (John) Page, Janet Landry, Robert M. Brown; great-grandchildren, Ava, Ethan, Joshua, Jacob, Jenna, Zachary, Tyler, Robert, Michael; and great-great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Michael; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Family and friends will be received from 2-8 p.m. on Monday at the James W. She was a member for 57 years of the Ladies of Charity, both at St. Joseph and Corpus Christi Parish. Beloved wife of the late Chester A. Hamerski for 60 plus years; mother of Joline (late Louis, "Bill") Buzzatto of White Oak, Mary Ann Kistler of Deltona, Florida, Walter (late Shirley) Hamerski of Harmony, PA, Robert (Cheryl) Hamerski of Glenshaw, Amy (William) Sawders of Versailles and the late Richard Hamerski, late Teresa Hamerski; also 14 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren; sister of Helen Frick of Pittsburgh and the late Nellie Markiewicz, late Phyllis Lanz, late Stanley Klara and the late Edward Klara. Deaconess Elizabeth Jefferies, 90, of Duquesne Pennsylvania, departed this life peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2020, in Woodhaven Care Center, Monroeville, PA. She was born May 22, 1929 in Greenville, South Carolina, daughter of the late John and Rosella Tate. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hermon B. Jefferies and sister Parthenia Johnson and a step daughter Jean Davis (John).

Mrs. Jefferies resided in Duquesne with her late husband of 51 years and was the owner of Tate's confectionery for over 50 years. In many ways, she was a pioneer in the local business community of Duquesne for having owned a business during a time when it was uncommon for women of color to be business owners.

Prior to his retirement, Don was a pipe inspector for US Steel and a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. He enjoyed gardening, listening to Oldies music and was an avid Steelers fan. Don was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Ann Dudik; and son, Shawn Dudik. Dorothy Ivan/Evans Manzlak, resident of North Huntingdon, PA, formerly of Glassport, born to the late George and Susan (Timura) Ivan of Glassport, died in her one hundredth year on January 15, 2020.  Graduated as the class Salutatorian, she was the last surviving member of Glassport High School Class of 1938. A member of the former Holy Trinity / St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in McKeesport, she was a past president of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers and Ladies of Charity, was awarded the Diocese of Pittsburgh Ladies of Charity Service Award Medal, and founded the Holy Trinity Widows' Support Group.  She was a church choir member where the Salesian-published poem she wrote, "Night of Nights," was set to music and sung at midnight mass. She also served as Glassport's Judge of Election, was a Girl Scout Leader, a past president of the Glassport Women's Club, past secretary of the Pittsburgh District of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, and an active volunteer and board member of the former Glassport Public Library.  A resident of Redstone Highlands since 2013, she was known as the "poet" for her spiritual poems, several of which were published by the Salesians in their anthology books and booklets.  Much to her delight, two were chosen for the Salesian Golden Book of Poetry placed in the Vatican Library and several are posted on the Salesian website.  At Redstone, she formed many friendships among residents, staff, and caregivers. She considered each of them as additions to a loving family.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John (Munzie) Manzlak in 1981; a sister, Regina in 1920; half-sisters, Mary Gyurisin, Elizabeth Kushner and Elizabeth Maharik; half-brothers, George and Michael Ivan; son-in-law, Pete Riesberg; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She is survived by daughters, Daria Riesberg of Alamo, CA and Dr. Audrey (Timothy) Quinlan of North Huntingdon; two grandchildren, Tara (Bill) Willenbrock of Chantilly, VA and Daniel (Deanna) Quinlan of Cranberry; one step-grandson, Derik Riesberg of CA; three great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.  Family and friends will be received from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon.  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. on Monday in St. Agnes Church, North Huntingdon, with Msgr. LaVerne S. (Ulichnie) Mihalik, 85, of White Oak, died Sunday January 12, 2020. She was born August 24, 1934 in Braddock, a daughter of the late John and Catherine (Henry) Ulichnie and was also preceded in death by her husband Michael J. Mihalik Sr. LaVerne was a member of Mary Mother of God Parish, St. Robert Bellarmine Church, East McKeesport, where she volunteered for the respite group of Catholic Charities and also the monthly grief recovery support group.

She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her children Bonnie (Joseph) Grott of McKeesport, Michael J. Mihalik Jr. (Peter Abraham) of Boston, MA, Lisa (James) Smith of Hopewell, and Susan (Michael) Ellsworth of Youngstown, OH; her grandchildren Brittany Smith, Tyler Grott, and Shannon and Kacey Ellsworth.
