William "Billy" Robert Bickerton, 35, of Calverton, New York and Spring Hill, Florida, formerly of McKeesport, died Wednesday May 24, 2017. He was born January 27, 1982 in McKeesport. Billy was a chef at Stoneybrook University and was an avid Pittsburgh Sports fan. He was also an organ donor. He is survived by his parents, Michael and Lori (Sutton) Newman Jr., of Spring Hill, FL, sisters, Jennifer Bickerton, Michelle (fiancée, Jason) Newman, and Nicole (fiancée, Blake) Newman of Spring Hill, FL, aunts, Lisa Newman of Chino, CA, Stacy (Jeff) Roolf of Denver, CO, a niece, Adrianna Viccione of Spring Hill, FL, grandparents, Michael (Janie) Newman, Sr., of McMurry, and Marlene (John) Newman of Dravosburg, his father, William Bickerton and grandparents, William and Phylis Bickerton of Finleyville, and many cousins and friends.

Mercedes Jane Gibbons, 95, of White Oak, died Thursday May 25, 2017. She was born May 31, 1921 in Port Vue and was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Hornyk) Billy. She was the wife of the late John J. (Bus) Gibbons, founder of the Gibbons Real Estate Agency, who died June 7, 1985. Mercedes graduated from McKeesport High school in 1938 and served on all the reunion committees. After graduating from Robert Morris University, she worked as the secretary to the Metallurgist at U.S. Steel until getting married. She was a faithful member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in McKeesport and was a former choir and council member and president of the W.E.L.C.A.

George E. Anderson, 88, of Pittsburgh, PA, departed this life, peacefully, following a short illness, on Friday, May 19, 2017, at the HJ. Heinz Veteran's Community Living Center in Aspinwall, PA. He was born December 25,1928 in Pittsburgh, to the late George R. Anderson and Elizabeth Lynch Anderson and step-mother, Mary L. Jones Anderson. He graduated from Pittsburgh Public Schools, George Westinghouse High School in Homewood. Upon graduation, George enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War for three years. Upon his Honorable Discharge from the army, George attended Carnegie Tech, studying to be a draftsman, while working part-time for the U.S. Postal Services, along with many other jobs. George met and married his late wife Dolores C. Talson Anderson, and to this union, two daughters were born, Leslie Diane Florence, and Lynne Darcel. George became a full-time employee of the U.S. Postal Services, working on the railroad mail delivery, Pittsburgh to Chicago delivery route for many years. Later, until retirement, George was a supervisor at the Vista facility of the U.S. Postal Service.

Mary “Marie” Sladics died peacefully on May 21, 2017 at the age of 96 in High Point, NC. Born to the late Nicholas and Anna Vrabel in Benscreek, PA, Marie grew up with six brothers. She was the beloved wife of the late Louis Sladics. Marie is survived by her daughter Sara Dalton and her husband John of Archdale, NC; her son Louis Sladics and his wife Jackie of Westerville, OH; her daughter Mara Stephan of McKeesport; and by her brother Fred Vrabel and his wife Elaine of Portage, PA. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Monica, Lisa, Tara, Lora, Kevin, Jared, and Jena; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
