Irene M. Rapsack, age 92 and formerly of Clairton, passed away on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 in Overlook Green Nursing Facility, Whitehall. Born May 3, 1927 in Clairton, she was a daughter of the late Mitro and Julia (Kolcun) Hrapchak. A member of Ascension of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church in Clairton, Irene served as a nun for more than 30 years with the Sister Servants of Mary Immaculate of Sloatsburg, NY, earning her Ph.D. from Fordham University. She taught all over and outside of the United States at various schools and institutions before taking a job with the Byzantine Diocese of Cleveland, then retiring back home to the area. Irene was a self-sufficient, independent, and devout woman who made her own way and lived a very interesting life.

Robert G. Noga, age 91, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at UPMC McKeesport. A World War II Air Force veteran, he retired as a security guard for Mesta Machine in Homestead. Born November 4, 1927 in Shoaf, he was a son of the late Joseph and Anna Noga. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, June (Rebar) Noga; and nieces and nephews. Elizabeth "Betty" Lindahl, age 88 of Marion, Texas, formerly of White Oak, entered eternal life on Sunday, June 23, 2019. She was born May 2, 1931 in Versailles Boro, the daughter of the late John and Bertha Nemeth Bunda and the wife of the late Robert Harold Lindahl. She was a banquet hostess employed by the Palace Inn Restaurant for many years. Betty was also a graduate of McKeesport High School, Class of 1949. Betty was always an active member of her church, McKeesport Presbyterian and Immanuel United Presbyterian. She was a loving animal advocate and rescue supporter who very much loved her dogs, Daisy and Pearlie. Betty loved to cross-stitch, cultivate flowers and work puzzles in her spare time. Those she leaves behind will most remember her for her love of God and family. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, neighbor, friend and wife and will be truly missed by all. She is survived by daughters, Valerie L. (Larry C.) Moore of Marion, Texas and Michelle Lindahl of Orlando, Florida; granddaughter, Elizabeth Leslie Moore of Marion, Texas; nephews, Charles Beres of Pfafftown, North Carolina and Martin Beres of Ottawa, Canada. She is preceded in death by her 12 siblings. Elizabeth J. Hough Scott, “Betty”, age 85 of Elizabeth, PA, passed away on June 22, 2019. Her partner, Charles Huffman, her children, best friend, Joyce Evans, and the OSTPA Hospice group, lovingly cared for her at home through her final week. She was born in Clairton, PA on August 5, 1933 to the late Henry and Bertha Moore Hough. She is preceded in death by former husband, Alexander T. Scott, and all her siblings. She is survived by her partner of 14 years, Charles Huffman of Elizabeth, PA; her three children; Perry Spires (Debbie Snyder), Louise Bagwell-Robinson (Charles Bagwell, MD) both from Richmond, VA, and her son Thomas Henry Scott (Elaine Hubbard) from Columbus, GA, and her son-in-law, James Robinson (Sharon) of Hurricane, WV. Betty was blessed with four outstanding grand-children; Perry Spires, “PJ” (Melanie) of Mt. Pleasant, Emily Gigliotti (Nathan) of Everson, PA, Amy Robinson Alphin (Thomas) of Seattle, WA, and Laura Robinson of Richmond, VA. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren; Owen and Lily Spires, Amelia, Olivia, and Julia Gigliotti, James Robinson II, and Henry Alphin. Betty was one extremely hard-working woman! She had owned and operated two different businesses – Chili’s Place in Monongahela, and MMM Goodies – Homemade Baked goods. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, making crafts, and was an AVID Longaberger Basket collector. She also worked for decades as a cook at Falk School at the University of Pittsburgh. She loved cooking for the children and repeatedly told stories about them and became very close with many of the families. Betty taught her family, not only the love for Kennywood Park, where her grandfather used to run the pony track, but also the love of the Pittsburgh Steelers. She was a season ticket holder for 25 years. Betty’s family will receive guests at S.M. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 432 N. 6th St., Clairton, PA 15025 at 4:00 on Tuesday, June 25. John S. Kovach, 94, of North Huntingdon, passed away Friday, June 21, 2019. He was born December 29, 1924 in McKeesport, son of the late Steven and Elizabeth (Fulop) Kovach. Prior to his retirement, John was a machinist for Genuine Tool Company and a WWII veteran having served in the US Army. John served in the Battery B 489th Coast Artillery Battalion and received WWII Victory Medal and two Bronze Star Medals while serving in Europe. He was a member of the 11th Ward Club, McKeesport, White Oak American Legion and enjoyed going to his hunting camp at Camp Glenn, Snowshoe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Florence McCarthy Kovach; five sisters; and one brother. He is survived by his sons, Thomas Kovach and his wife, Joanne; John Kovach and his wife, Camille; sister, Grace Balogh; and grandchildren, Kelly (Tim) Mediate, John (Courtney) Kovach, Michael (Felicia) Kovach, Kathryn "Katie" Kovach; and two great-grandchildren, Sophia and Kace.
