Linda G. (Goodrich) Kavka, age 75, of Forward Twp., passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2020 at home. She was a retired insurance agent for Insurance Consultants of Pittsburgh in Mt. Lebanon. Born March 25, 1945 in Moultrie, GA, she was a daughter of the late William F. and Margaret (Colson) Goodrich. She is survived by her son, Duane A. (Tammy) Kavka Jr. of Elizabeth; grandchildren, Kylie Jo and Kenna Elizabeth Kavka; sisters, Barbara (the late John) Relja of Elizabeth Twp., Joan (Bruce) Jordan of North Huntingdon and Sherri (Bill) Jenkins of Forward Twp.; sister-in-law, Netta Goodrich of Forward Twp.; also, nieces and nephews. Myrna Gail Martin, 83, of North Huntingdon, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020 at her home.  She was born August 28, 1936 in Mutual, Pa., a daughter of the late Harry and Louise (Stape) Hixson.  Prior to her retirement, Myrna was a registered nurse for Monsour Hospital and a member of the First United Church of Christ, Greensburg.  She enjoyed doing needlepoint and sewing.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David Martin; and sister, Carol Absten.  She is survived by her son, Dave Martin and his wife, Amy; sister, Joyce Frye; grandchildren, Michael, Jamie, Tyler; great-grandson, Grayson; and niece, Kim (Steve) Summers.

Mary L. Fierst, age 95, of East McKeesport, passed away Saturday June 20, 2020. She was born January 14, 1925 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Elmer and Alice Fierst. She was a long time member of Mary Mother of God Parish (formerly St Robert Bellarmine) in East McKeesport.

She worked as a secretary for Crum and Forster Insurance in Pittsburgh for many years before retiring. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers John and Regis Fierst; and sisters Dorothy Purcell and Ann Redman. She is survived by her niece Nora Lukac of East McKeesport; great niece Sharon Coutaway of East McKeesport; great-great niece Kara (Justin) Goodfellow and their children Alexandra and Justin.

Edward A. Semenko, 83, of Greensburg, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2020. He was born June 10, 1937 in McKeesport, the son of the late Frank E. and Bertha (Skiba) Semenko. He was an Army veteran that had served six years, and was retired from Westinghouse Electric Corporation, East Pittsburgh.

Throughout his life Edward enjoyed waterskiing, fishing, hunting, camping, and boating with his family and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Carol Bury.

Edward is survived by his wife Cheryl (Helderlein) Semenko; his children Michele (Joe) Avolio of Ligonier, Thelma (Walter) Ponitz of Hermine, Dawn Semenko of Florida, and Carla (Rob) Payer of Greensburg; grandchildren Ashley, Scott, Katie, Christopher, Hannah, and Danielle; sister Patricia Laney of DE; and nieces and nephews.

Patricia Lyall Edwards, 74, of North Huntingdon, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2020 at her home.  She was born March 21, 1946 in McKeesport, a daughter of the late George and Alberta (McCabe) Lyall.  Prior to her retirement, Patricia was a school teacher and a member of Christ United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star.  She enjoyed all types of art and especially sewing, crafting and painting.  In addition to her parents, Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, George N. Edwards.  She is survived by her sons, George L. Edwards and Dwight D. Edwards and his wife, Melissa; and grandchildren, Carlie J. and Kyle J. Edwards.  Friends will be received from 2-5 p.m. on Tuesday at the James W. Beatrice Haines (Sisson) Kersten, 75, of Larimer, died June 20, 2020 at the Grove, North Huntingdon. She was born April 3, 1945 in Pittsburgh, Pa. a daughter of the late Wesley and Beatrice Barr Haines.. Beatrice was a member of the Word of Life Church in Greensburg. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as an obstetric nurse at various local hospitals. She was a graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School, Class of 1962 and Mercy School of Nursing, Class of 1965.

She is survived by her beloved husband, William H. Kersten, daughter, Cherie (Sisson) O'Neal and her husband Robert, daughter in law, Roxanne Smith-Sisson, grandchildren, Sarah Griffith (husband Kevin), Michael O'Sullivan (Fiance' -Paige McCombie), Steven O'Sullivan, Connor McGuire, Colton, Callen, Maelyn and Cooper Sisson, 12 step grandchildren, great grandchildren Carter, Grace and Sadie Griffith, brother James Mims, and also half siblings, nieces and nephews.

Alfred F. Werner Jr., age 95, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Friday, June 19, 2020 at home. A graduate of Elizabeth High School, he was an Army Air Corps veteran with the 8th Air Force 96th Bombing Group in the European Theater during World War II. He retired after 43 years in the heating department at U.S. Steel Clairton Works. He was a charter member of the Elizabeth Twp. Historical Society and Central Food Pantry of Elizabeth Twp., and a volunteer with the Elizabeth Twp. Meals on Wheels. He was a life member of Blaine Hill VFW and American Legion. He was a committee member for the National Bicentennial in Elizabeth Twp., a former member of the Mon Yough Wood Carvers, and attended Round Hill Presbyterian Church.

Lillian “Lil” Davis Viehl, 70, of Glassport, passed away at her home surrounded by family on Thursday, June 18, 2020.  She was born in McKeesport on January 4, 1950 to the late Kenneth and Elizabeth Lockhart Davis. Lillian is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jacob E. Viehl, daughter; Renee Crosby, of Glassport, sons; Paul (Kimberly) Viehl, of Rostraver Township, and Dean Viehl, of Erie, grandchildren; Jacob Crosby, Jayde Crosby, Evelyn Viehl, Dean Viehl, Danielle Viehl, and Jessica Viehl, great-grandchild Colton Minarchin, sister, Barbara Bodnar, of West Newton, Matilda Blanks, of Butler, and brother; Kenneth (Nancy) Davis. Lillian was preceded in death by five of her brothers and sisters. She was a graduate of South Allegheny, and also studied cometology at McKeesport Vo-Tech. Lillian was owner and operator of her own residential cleaning company. She was a serious sports enthusiast, which extended to her dedication in volunteeting as Team Mom. Lillian enjoyed Bingo, Cooking, but most especially her family who will miss her dearly.

Beverly Karg, 82, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2020. Widow of the late John "Jack" Karg, she was born Beverly Mary Burley on April 12, 1938 in McKeesport, daughter of the late John and Mary (Palm) Burley. Beverly was a member of the Third Order of St. Francis, a leader of Ladies of Charity, a parishioner of  St. Michael Church, and taught catechism at both St. Perpetua and St. Michael parishes. In her youth, Beverly performed in Civic Light Opera, and later taught dance lessons at the former Three Sisters Dance Studio in McKeesport and privately in her home. She also taught dance and exercise at McKeesport Penn State Campus and was a volunteer at McKeesport Hospital. She had previously worked for several years at the former Beneficial Finance in McKeesport. She is survived by her son, Kevin Karg of Elizabeth Township, daughter, Karin M. (Scott Kimball) Karg and grandson, John Baer Kimball of Waltham, MA. There is no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 am, on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at St. Michael Church, Elizabeth Township. The Rev. Thomas Wagner will be officiating. Martin John Horensky, 71, of North Huntingdon, passed away June 12, 2020 at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital.  He was born July 24, 1948 in North Braddock, a son of the late Helen Mower Horensky.  Prior to his retirement, Martin was a bricklayer and a member of The Lutheran Church of Our Saviour.   Martin worked hard as an excellent bricklayer, enjoyed sports especially the Steelers, loved playing poker and gin rummy.  He is preceded in death by his brother, Georgie Mowers; adopted family members, Michael and Edna Billick; and his beloved dog, Prince.  He is survived by his lifelong family members, Carolyn "Bing" Sopko who chose him for a brother, Chuck and Debbie Jones, Kevin and Jen Jones and their children Hannah and Finn, Gloria Gould and her children, David and Jennifer, canine friend Boney Jones and feline friends, Lil One and Boomer.  Close friends Joseph Suff, Nancy and Donald Simon and Guity Saleh.
