Marilyn M. (Roucroft) Benack, age 92, of Clairton, passed away on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at Jefferson Hospital.  Born July 8, 1929 in Belle Vernon, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Phyllis (Atkinson) Roucroft.  Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Guido "Guy" Benack, who passed away on February 3, 2014.  She is survived by her sons Guy F. "Boots" (Denise) Benack of Clairton, Scott T. (Debra) Benack of Elizabeth, and daughters, Lori L. Benack of Clairton, Lynda L. Manko of Jefferson Hills; her grandchildren Jason (Noreen) Lohr, Nicole (Paul) Lowers, Scott (Angela) Benack, Jr., Kristy (Rick) Wilson, Tim Benack, Lexi (Bryan) Sacunas, Steven Fortunato, and Amanda Manko; her great grandchildren; her sister Ursula Svac of Jefferson Hills; and nieces and nephews.  Besides her husband and parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her brother Frank Roucroft.

Richard Ronald Clarke, 81, of West Mifflin, passed away at home on Friday, July 1, 2022. He was born December 7, 1940 in Pittsburgh and was the son of the late Raymond and Anna (Vrcic) Clarke. Richard had worked for the former Continental Can and Sears Auto Center in West Mifflin. He was a US Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. While in the Army, he received the Sharpshooters Medal and the Good Conduct Medal and had also completed Advanced Military Police Training. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Ann (Oswald) Clarke, daughter, Noel Christine Faust of West Mifflin, and granddaughter, Alicia Ann Faust. He was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond Clarke. Marilyn A. (Durkay) Schweitzer

Marilyn A. (Durkay) Schweitzer, 92, of North Versailles, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2022. She was born February 16, 1930 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Butchko) Durkay. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband Edwin Schweitzer, son David Schweitzer, son and daughter in-law Daniel and Alison Schweitzer, and a sister Annette McGrath.

Marilyn was a member of Mary Mother of God Parish and attended St. Robert Bellarmine Church, East McKeesport. Prior to her retirement she worked in dietary services at UPMC Braddock and then worked in the cafeteria for East Allegheny School District. Marilyn loved her dogs Tara and Annie and enjoyed spending time with her family.

Leon Coleman, 64, of McKeesport, was born November 2, 1957, in Braddock, PA. He was the beloved son to the late John Sr. and Adlee (Davis) Coleman. Leon departed this life on June 28, 2022, at AHN Jefferson Hospital.

Leon was a Duquesne High School graduate, class of 1975. He spent the majority of his 30+ year banking career, as a Branch Manager at Citizens Bank (formerly known as Mellon), and his remaining years at Dollar Bank.

Leon was a devoted member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, where he served as Trustee, Deacon, Minister, Associate Reverend, and a member of the Christian Travelers Male Chorus.

In his youth, he was an avid basketball player and also enjoyed playing pool as a hobby. He liked to spend afternoons in the park listening to Jazz.  Leon always took a great deal of pride in his appearance. He was a loving and caring husband, son, father, grandfather, and friend.

She was born January 15, 1935 in North Versailles, a daughter of the late Joseph S. and Katherine (Schultz) Panczyk. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth F. Crissman, siblings Sophia Powell, Francis Panczyk, her twin sister Jean Martin, and Florence Kearns. Joan was a member of Norwin Christian Church, she enjoyed family and her friends in her church community. She is survived by her children Kenneth E. (Donna) Crissman of Glen Rock, and Sheryl (James) Likar of Trafford, grandchildren Ashley (Owen) Cameron, Nicholas Likar, Melissa Likar, and Lindsay Likar, a brother Theodore Panczyk of North Versailles, and nieces and nephews.

Patricia A. Martin McKissick, a native of McKeesport; an educator and loving spouse, mother and grandmother, died Friday, July 1, 2022, at home in Murrysville, Westmoreland County. She was 80. A graduate of McKeesport schools, Duquesne University and the University of Pittsburgh, Ms. McKissick began her career teaching in the elementary grades in McKeesport. She continued her life-long teaching of children as a Peace Corps Volunteer and primary school teacher in Iran. Upon return to the U.S., Patricia was active in St Martin’s Episcopal church and was an instructor in early childhood development at Community College of Allegheny County. Late in her career, Patricia returned to the Middle East, where she taught refugees in the Anglican church near her home in Cairo, Egypt. Accomplished in a variety of cuisines – from Ukrainian and Italian cooking, to Persian, she was also a fervent advocate for food safety.

Dennis R. “Denny” Ervin, 76 of Liberty Borough, formerly of North Versailles and Pitcairn, passed away on Wednesday, June 29th, 2022, at his home. He was born in Pittsburgh on May 5th, 1946, to the late Walter and Elizabeth Louise (Eves) Ervin. Dennis was the loving partner of 51 years to Shirley Smorey. He is survived by significant other Shirley Smorey, as well as sons Dennis Smorey of West Elizabeth and Shawn (Stephanie) Ervin of Penn Hills, and daughters Shannon (Howard) Morgan of Rostraver and Danette (Donald) Aber of West Elizabeth. Further survivors include brothers Glenn (Kathy) Ervin of Claridge and Scott Ervin of South Carolina. He is additionally survived by 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog MinMin. Dennis was preceded in death by his grandson Matthew Morgan. He was a member of the Army, serving in Vietnam. He enjoyed being a cab driver, playing cards, watching Western movies, gambling, and spending time with his grandchildren. Arrangements have been entrusted to S.M. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 432 N. 6th St, Clairton, PA 15025. A memorial service will occur privately at a later date. Regina Catherine Zawada

Regina Catherine Zawada, 93, of North Versailles, PA, passed away peacefully at her home on June 27, 2022.

Regina was born on November 22, 1928 in Jeannette, Pa., a daughter of the late Karol and Marcyanna (Lipski) Zlotkowski, who were immigrants from Poland. She grew up during the depression and help support her family by working at the local five and dime store.

Regina was a loving wife and mother whose family and faith were the center of her life. She and her husband Jerry proudly saw their children through a proper Catholic upbringing and schooling and made sure all enjoyed the benefits of a college education. Regina was a devout parishioner at the St. Robert Bellarmine (Mary, Mother of God) Parish for 55 years.

In addition to caring for her husband, children and home, Regina was a constant provider for her family. To this end she took on a variety of work, from being an executive secretary for the Westinghouse Corporation and a tool and die machine operator for the Ringsdorf Corporation, to being a census taker and an eBay entrepreneur.

Gaetano “Guy” Melocchi, age 95, of North Versailles passed away Saturday, June 25, 2022, at the home he built surrounded by his family.

He was born November 28, 1926, in Sant Angelo del Pesco, Italy, a son of the late Francesco and Amandolina (DiVito) Melocchi. He immigrated to the United States in 1956, and after establishing himself, sent for his wife and two children two years later. He was a long-time member of Mary Mother of God Parish in East McKeesport (formerly St. Robert Bellarmine). He was a bricklayer for his whole career and was known to be a perfectionist in his trade.

Roland Curdell Johnson, 65, of Temple Hills, Maryland, was born May 31, 1957, in McKeesport, PA. He was the beloved son to the late Joseph and Barbara (Ruffin) Johnson. Roland departed this life on June 17, 2022 in Temple Hills, MD.

He was a graduate of Clairton High School and attended the University of Pittsburgh for a duration of time before exploring other career paths ultimately finding his footing in car sales. Roland worked as a Sales Manager for Waldorf Chevrolet Cadillac.

Roland enjoyed spending time playing his bass guitar, riding his motorcycle, and attending Steelers games, but would root for the Bengals when his cousin was on the field. While he had some personal struggles in his young adult life, he worked diligently to make amends and overcome his adversities. People who knew him will always remember him with a smile on his face and infinite knowledge about anything related to car sales and profits. Selling cars was his passion and it showed through his work ethic and easygoing nature about the business.

He was born in McKeesport onMay 18, 1940, to the late Wasel and Helena (Fedko) Harsmanka. Mike was the loving husband of 59 years to Pamela J. (Silbaugh) Harsmanka. He is survived by his wife Pamela, his son Michael (Monica Harcut) Harsmanka, Jr. of Waterford, CT, as well as daughters Michele (James) Bridges of Finleyville, Marla (Brinton) Goettel of Monongahela, Melissa (Jorge) Turbay of Clairton, and Marcy (Robert) McQuaide of Reserve Township. Further survivors include brothers Alex Harsmanka of CA, John Harsmanka of West Elizabeth, and sister Yena Ramos of Long Branch, NJ. Additional survivors include grandchildren Courtney (Daniel) Hayden of Belle Vernon, Hannah (Chad) Yerkey of Belle Vernon, Brinton (Lauren) Goettel of Pittsburgh, Morgan Goettel, McKenzie Goettel, Lydia Goettel, Abigail Goettel, all of Forward Township, Juliana Goettel and Sarah Bridges of Pittsburgh, and Suzanne Vareha of New Kensington. Great-grandchildren include Rebekah, Esther, Rachel, Danny, Brock, Ryley, and Ellie. Further survivors include many nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by great-grandchild Elizabeth, brothers Adam and Charles Harsmanka, and sisters Natasha Kavic, Tana Siroki, and Stella DeRosa. He was a member of the Navy, active from 1959-1963, serving on the USS Boston and USS Springfield. He was also a member of the Miracle Ridge Baptist Church in Forward Township, as well as a 1960 graduate of Clairton High School. Mike enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, camping at Scottyland, football, being a carpenter for his grandchildren, watching Cowboy Western films, and completing word searches. He will be terribly missed by all who knew him. Family and friends will be received on Saturday, July 2, 2022, from 1-4 P.M. at S.M. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 432 N. 6th St, Clairton, PA 15025. A service will take place following the visitation at the funeral home. Inurnment will occur privately at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at a later date.
