Robert L. Quinn, Sr., 95, of White Oak, died Monday, October 31, 2022 at UPMC McKeesport. Born in McKeesport, May 17, 1927, he was the son of the late John Lawrence and Cynthia Bender Quinn. A retired quality control engineer at the former National Works of U.S. Steel, he was a deacon, elder, and active life member of McKeesport Presbyterian Church, Two Rivers Radio Club (call sign W3SYR) and a dedicated volunteer for Meals On Wheels. Mr. Quinn served his country during World War II as a Seaman First Class in the U.S. Navy. Husband of the late Margaret “Peggy” Merelli Quinn, he was preceded in death by his son, Paul Quinn, his son in law, James Vodila, and by his sister, Ruth Leaptrot. He is survived by his children, Robert (Marj) Quinn, Jr. of Erie, PA, Judy (Fred) Steudler of Liberty Borough, Janet Vodila of White River Junction, VT, Donna (Tom) Wise of Austin, TX, and Dominic Merelli of Florida; by his sister, June Filson of North Huntingdon; 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren; also by nieces and nephews. A memorial service with military honors will be held Saturday, November 5, 2022 at 3:00 PM in McKeesport Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Michael Stanton and the Rev. Gary Filson officiating. Kenneth L. Gavron, 65, of New Castle, Delaware, formerly of McKeesport, passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at Transitions Healthcare, North Huntingdon. He was born, June 22, 1957 in McKeesport, a son of the late Frank and Mary (Loder) Gavron. Prior to his retirement, Kenneth was a HVAC repairman for Christiana Hospital. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and had a love for animals especially his two cats. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald. Tammy I. Harkovich, 60, of North Huntingdon, passed away Monday, October 31, 2022 at Forbes Regional Hospital. She was born January 22, 1962 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Daniel and Olive (Patterson) Swackhammer. Prior to her retirement, Tammy was a waitress for Gia Visto. She was a graduate of Churchill High School and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and cat, Mittens. She is survived by her daughters, Sarah Harkovich and Hailey (Milo) Coddington; brothers, Daniel (Barbara), Randy (Lydia), Jeffrey (Dawn), Keith (Debbie); sister, Tracey (John) Diroll; grandchildren, Madison and Nolan; and numerous nieces and nephews. Richard J. Harrison, Sr., age 80, of McKeesport, died October 29, 2022, at Jefferson Hills Rehabilitation and Wellness Center. Born December 25, 1941, in Liberty Borough, he was the son of the late James and Emma (Bellas) Harrison and is survived by Susan Griffiths, who he has been with for 21 years. Rich worked for U.S. Steel National Tube Works for eleven years, as a limo driver for the airport for eleven years, and bus driver for PA Coach Lines for fifteen years. Rich served in the Army and was stationed at Fort Ord in California. Rich spent time outdoors camping and fishing in his younger years, and he was always a good cook. He was known for always coming up with some new concoction of a recipe, but was most known for his BBQ baked beans. In addition to Susan, he is also survived by children, Carla (Mark) Peaco and Richard Jr. (Cynthia) Harrison; Susan's children, William (Cindy) Griffiths, Lisa (Steve Dobrick) Griffiths, and Kristen (Marc) Morgan; grandchildren, John Harrison, Brandon Harrison, Robert Wahrenberger, Tyler Harrison, Angelica Peaco, Marc Morgan, Madison Morgan, William Griffiths, Lukas Morgan, Steven Dobrick, and Matthew Dobrick.

Antionette "Toni" Rizzo of North Versailles passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at the age of 93. Toni was the daughter of the late Lorenzo and Marrianne Iovino of Swissvale. Beloved wife of the late Samuel Rizzo and dear mother of Gene (Lorraine) of North Versailles, Larry of Sarasota, Florida, and the late Guy Rizzo; loving grandmother of Vincent Brannan, Bridgeville. She is survived by her sister, Mary Ulis, but preceded in death by siblings Grace Devlin, Lou Iovino, and Bridgette Gailbreath. Toni is also survived by several loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Toni worked at Mercy Hospital, A & P Bakery, Westinghouse Switchgear Credit Union, and later volunteered at the Senior Center in Turtle Creek. She loved spending her leisure time at her summer cabin in Pymatuning and sharing it with friends and family as often as possible. She enjoyed cooking and reading, but above all else, helping others.

Elizabeth “Jean” Ponitz, originally from Wilmerding, earned her angel wings at St. Anne’s Home on Monday, October 24, 2022. She was born in Wall, PA on December 31, 1928, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Arendas. Jean, as she was called by her family and friends, worked in retail and offered fashion advice to her many customers at Lane Bryant, Caren Charles, and Pappagallo at the Monroeville Mall. At age 93 she continued to read fashion magazines for the latest trends. She also enjoyed doing word search puzzles and would keep her family busy purchasing additional puzzle books for her. She was a member of St. Aloysius Church, now known as St. Joseph the Worker parish and a graduate of Westinghouse Memorial High School in Wilmerding.

Robert J. Kelly, age 77, of Versailles, died October 27, 2022, at UPMC Magee Hospital. Born August 21, 1945, in Latrobe, he was the son of the late Benjamin Kelly and Loretta Ploszay and husband of Faye (Daugherty) Kelly for 32 years.
Robert retired as a General Laborer with Westinghouse Airbrake Company. A life long Steelers fan, he always wore his favorite Steelers hat to show his team pride and liked watching basketball. He enjoyed puzzles and woodworking and collecting light houses. Robert was a member of the First Christian Church in McKeesport and also in the choir. He also set duck pins for many years in Clairton and McKeesport.

Sam retired as a Maintenance Supervisor from the Fisher Body Division of General Motors Corp. He was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Korean War. Sam was a member of the Sons of Italy. He enjoyed woodworking, dancing, and admiring classic GM cars in his younger years. Sam was a long-time Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
Sam is survived by his son, Jay (Kimberly) Lang of White Oak; grandchildren, Michael, Jason, and Amanda; great-grandchildren, Samuel, Lily, Rose, Hayden, Lilah and Leo.

He was born in McKeesport on February 9, 1940, to the late Carlyle B. and P. Jeanne (Crawford) Wilson. He is survived by a sister Alice (Ralph) Jabara of San Tan Valley, AZ, and brothers Jerry Wilson of Dravosburg and Bill (Mary) Wilson of Jefferson Hills. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law Marilyn “Sandy” Wilson, and nephew Robert J. Wilson. Wayne graduated from McKeesport High School in 1958 and was a veteran of the U.S. Army from 1963 until 1965. He attained the rank of Sgt. E-5 in the signal corp. He was a retired operator for the Pittsburgh Regional Transit of Allegheny County (PaT) and a member of the Amalgamated Transit Union Division 85 for over 50 years. He was also a life member of the Dravosburg Volunteer Fire Department #1 and Clairton Sportsman Club.
