Carol Ann Thomas, age 73, of North Versailles, died December 22, 2021, at Jefferson Hills Rehabilitation and Wellness Center.  Born March 30, 1948, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late William Betz, Sr., and Agnes Betz and loving wife of Peter Thomas for 46 years.
  Carol earned her Bachelor of Science in Education from the California University of Pennsylvania and then her Master's Degree from Penn State University.  Carol would become a teacher at the former Central Catholic School on Versailles Avenue in McKeesport and then at Allegheny Intermediate Unit teaching disabled students.  She enjoyed traveling with her husband, visiting Wildwood for 26 years every end of August, where they would enjoy walking on the boardwalk and loafing on the beach.  They also traveled out west in a motor home, visiting 17 states.  While on their trip out west, they took in the sites of the Cheyenne Rodeo.  Carol was skilled with her hands knitting and creating beautiful crafts year-round.  She also enjoyed baking nut rolls, lady locks, and other cookies, especially around the holidays.

Franklin C. Thompson

Franklin C. Thompson, 92, of North Huntingdon, passed away Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at UPMC East, Monroeville.  He was born August 2, 1929 in McKeesport, a son of the late Frank and Gladys (Cooper) Thompson.  Prior to his retirement, Franklin worked in Human Resources for West Penn Hospital and was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War Era.  He enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, refinishing furniture, listening to opera, feeding and watching birds and traveling extensively.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Brown; son, David Thompson; and brother, Jan Thompson.  He is survived by his wife, Rose (Proch) Jennette Thompson; daughters, Lynn Cross and her husband, Jeffrey, Tammy Esip and her husband, Brian; sons, Bill Jennette and his wife, Debbie, Tim Jennette and Ellen; sister-in-law, Pat Thompson; grandchildren, Matt (Kearstyne) Cross, Kendra (Matt) Nicholas, Cody Jennette; and special cousins.  A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the James W. Shirley Funeral Home chapel, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA  15642.  Burial will be private in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Audubon Society.  www.shirleyfuneralhome.com

Darough K. Marciniec, 71, of Pittsburgh, formerly of West Mifflin, died Dec. 22, 2021.  He is the son of the late Carl and Margaret (Fillo) Marciniec.  He is survived by his sister-in-law Patty (the late Gary) Butler; nephew Jason Marciniec; and cousins Lori (George) Fillo, David (Sue) Fillo, Phyllis (the late Richard) Nemeth, Leslie Reihl and Lenny Reihl and many other cousins.  He was preceded in death by his brother Gary Marciniec. Darough was retired from US Steel Homestead and worked in housekeeping at Shadyside Hospital and was a lifetime Steeler ticket holder.  Friends received Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, Duquesne on Mon. from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8.  A funeral blessing will be held Tues. at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Father Tom Lewandowski officiating.  Interment following Holy Name Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Light of Life Mission.

Emma Marie Piplica,  95, of Liberty Boro, passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2021. She was born March 14, 1926 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Powell) Petro. She was the wife of the late Nick Piplica who passed away on June 18, 2005. She was a member of Sts. Joachim and Anne Parish-St. Eugene Church in Liberty Boro. Emma's greatest joy was her family. She took time to make everyone near her feel special and loved. Her heart was so big. She enjoyed making rugs, playing bingo, gambling and shopping, especially at the thrift stores.

Ralph Edwin “Ralphie” Falk, 77 of Jefferson Hills, passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at his home. He was born in McKeesport on December 31, 1943, to the late Jack and Mary Jane Nacey Falk. Ralph was the loving husband of 55 years to Donna L. D’Antonio Falk. He is survived by his wife Donna as well as his children Tracy L. Williams of Pleasant Hills, Ryan C. (Johnetta) Falk of Pleasant Hills, and Kevin A. (Christina) Falk of Jefferson Hills. Additional survivors include his brothers Tom (Patty) Falk of Pleasant Hills and Michael Falk of Manitowoc, Wisconsin. He is further survived by his grandchildren Skylar, Kevin Jr., Asher, Jordan, Makayla, Shaylor, Collin, and Cassidy, and great-grandchildren Evelyn, Ashton, Bryson, as well as an expected great-grandchild Miles. He is additionally survived by nieces, nephews, and cousins. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Jack, James, and Mary Jane Falk. He was a member of the Army, as well as an auto worker of 35 years for General Motors. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 75 in Clairton, a former member of the VFW, as well as an original member of the oldies musical group The Holidays. Ralph was also a member of the former St. Clare of Assisi/Thomas A’Becket Church, now known as the Triumph of the Holy Cross. Later in life, he found joy in being a bus driver for the West Jefferson Hills School District. He enjoyed playing golf, watching old TV shows, watching sports avidly, and listening to the Candy and Mike radio show. Ralph was also known for being the owner of St. Clair Coffee Shop where he served both coffee and beer with a smile. Family and friends will be received on Monday, December 27, 2021, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at S.M. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 432 N. 6th St, Clairton, PA 15025. A blessing service will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at 10 am, to be followed by interment with military honors at Jefferson Memorial Park. Michael J. Ondike, age 47, of McKeesport, died December 20, 2021, at home.  Born October 11, 1974, in McKeesport, he was the son of Kenneth Ondike and the late Roseann Walker and step-mother, the late Peggy Ondike.  
Michael was known as a "jack of all trades," working on cars and remodeling homes.  He also collected model cars from his favorite movies and ones that he just personally liked.  He enjoyed testing his luck and traveling with his wife, Carrie.  Michael was a former member of the Croatian Club in Duquesne.

Mildred V. “Tu-Tu” (Tomosky) Rizzo, 92, died December 14, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Tu-Tu was famous for her pancakes. She enjoyed playing cards and going to the casino. Her greatest joy was her family and the time she spent with them. Each grandchild and great-grandchild was her favorite. She was strong in her faith, and regularly attended mass at St. Jude the Apostle Church in Wilmerding, where she was also a member of the Rosary Society. Tu-Tu was like a grandmother to many.  She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.

Duane retired from Peter Movic Appliance Parts in McKeesport and then went on to work at Sunray Electric Supply.  He was known as a "tinkerer" and "fixer" of motors and worked on many cars in his spare time.  He also enjoyed spending time in his backyard.

Billie Jean Pavlic, age 66, of Derry, PA, formerly of McKeesport, died December 18, 2021, at Latrobe Hospital. Born November 15, 1955, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late William and Leona (Kalkbrenner) Callahan and the wife of Joseph S. Pavlic Sr. of 50 wonderful years.
Billie Jean worked at numerous jobs through the years, such as the Four Seasons dry cleaner and Charlene Manor. She also worked at Woody's Restaurant, Renzie Lounge, and the Viking Lounge, all formerly of McKeesport. Billie Jean enjoyed crocheting, crafting, gardening, interior decorating, playing bingo, camping and vacations to Ocean City, MD. Most of all, she loved to cook for her family, friends, and those in need. Billie Jean looked forward to planning all her family gatherings and would make enough food to feed an army. Dressing up and going out for dinner was one of her favorite things to do. She was active with her daughters' softball teams and cheering them on at their games. Billie Jean was very proud of her Irish heritage and always considered family her greatest accomplishment.

Darlene A. Wagner, age 76, of Port Vue, died December 20, 2021, at Kane Community Living Center in McKeesport.  Born April 4, 1945, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of Rose (Yuscinsky) Judd and the late Eugene Judd.
Darlene worked in the office and as a clerk at Foodland in Homeville for many years.  She had a passion for shopping and all things retail, going out most days and always coming home with something new.
In addition to her mother, she is also survived by a sister, Sally Soles, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  
Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7 p.m.

Nathan Christian Thorne 32 of Irwin, PA died peacefully at Forbes Hospital after waging a valiant battle with Covid-19. He was so brave, strong, and courageous. God called Nathan home from this battle to Heaven on Monday the 20th to celebrate Christmas with a brand, new body and loved ones who preceded him in death. He was born on August 28, 1989 at Jeannette Hospital. He is survived by his mum, Leslie Proctor Savage (Michael) and his father, Larry John Thorne (Jaci), one brother, Luke Michael Savage and one sister, Gabrielle Thorne. His grandparents, C. Ray and Eileen Proctor, Alfred and Reta Thorne, step grandparents Nancy and William Wassell and a step grandmother Jackie Gesler. A beautiful fiancée Marja Yasa, Aunts and Uncles: Kellee Birnstiel, Dwayne Thorne (Sheri), Terri Garrick (Brent), Tracey Lane (Scott), John Gesler, Jr. and a herd of cousins. He is preceded in death by his step grandfathers, Thomas Savage and John Gesler. Nathan is a 2008 graduate of Norwin High School. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from the University of Pennsylvania in May 2021. Friends and Family will be received at the James W.
