Clifford E. Loehr, age 88, formerly of Forward Twp., passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2022 in Atria Senior Living of South Hills. He was a retired chemical engineer at PPG Industries in Barberton, OH and he and his wife were the founding members of the Mon Valley Cloggers. Born March 9, 1934 in Somers, IA, he was a son of the late Clifford J. Loehr and Neva (Morris) King and husband of the late Patricia (Barlow) Loehr. He is survived by four children, Deborah (Donald Rudat) Morgan of Forward Township, Mark (Maureen) Loehr of Boiling Springs, SC, Andrea (Jeff) Hudson of Akron, OH and Lesa (William) DeMarrais of Forward Township; eleven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; sister, LaDonna Rugg of Iowa. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Loehr. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, Elizabeth on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 from 11AM until a 12 Noon service in the funeral home with Pastor John Custer officiating. Gregory Michael Firda, 61 of Elizabeth Township, formerly of Lincoln Borough, passed away Friday, August 26, 2022 now at rest after a great fight with cancer. He was born on March 10, 1961 in McKeesport. He was a member of Sts. Joachim and Anne Parish-St. Michael Church in Elizabeth Township and was a 1979 graduate of St. Elizabeth Catholic School in Pleasant Hills. To many Greg was a true walking angel, and now will continue to be our angel in heaven to be reunited with his loving parents John Firda, and Agnes Bernadette (Behun) Firda. Greg is survived by his brother Jeffrey (Tammy) Firda of Lincoln Borough, nephew John Firda, nieces Alexis Firda and Avonlea (Blaine) Gergley, Ashley (Bradley) Domer who resembled to be his own daughter along with her children Bradley and Mateo who he deeply enjoyed the presence of till his last hours.

Robert E. “Bob” Winterbottom, 82 of Dravosburg, formerly of McKeesport, passed away on Friday, August 26th, 2022, in West Mifflin. He was born in Turtle Creek on November 7th, 1939. He is survived by longtime friend Virginia M. Olinski, as well as sons Robert (Tina) of Claxton, GA, and James Winterbottom of East McKeesport, and daughter Helen L. Korinko of McKeesport. Further survivors include 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 2 nieces and 6 nephews, and his beloved dog Annie. He is also survived by his brother William Winterbottom of Turtle Creek. Robert was preceded in death by his brother Jimmy Jordan as well as sisters Lavern and Cheryl Winterbottom. Theresa M. Mattis, Age 48 of West Mifflin, PA, died unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, August 25, 2022.  Born July 22, 1974 in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of Valeria E. (Miklos) Mattis and the late Michael T. Mattis. 

Theresa was an active member of Mary Mother of God Parish, where she served as a Lector.  She was a 1992 graduate of Serra Catholic High School.  Throughout her career Theresa worked at Carnegie Mellon, Pitt, Macy’s and most recently at BP.  She was a popular karaoke co-host at Joe’s Bar in West Mifflin.

Edna M. Paterra, age 88, died August 22, 2022, at Kane Regional Center in McKeesport, PA.
Born December 3, 1933, in Baltimore, MD., she was the daughter of the late Mildred F. (Boles) Schrader and the late Howard C. Schrader.
She was the loving wife for 61 years of the late Falco A. Paterra. She was also preceded in death by her sister Virginia Cearns.
She is survived by daughters, Janet (Dan) Lundie of TN and Linda (Mark) Jesionowski of North Huntingdon; son Jeff (Amy) Paterra of Colorado; grandchildren Michael (Katie) Jesionowski, Matthew (Jennifer) Lundie, Rob (Lindsey) Jesionowski, Alison (Adam) Cook, Kevin, Elizabeth, and John Paterra; seven great-granddaughters and one great-grandson; and sister-in-law, Jean Paterra. Evelyn "Effie" (Batinich) Liptak, age 92 of Jefferson Hills, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2022.  Born March 20, 1930 in Clairton, she was a daughter of the late Marion and Mary (Nikolic) Batinich.  The former co-owner/proprietor of Marion's Tavern on Route 51 in Jefferson Hills. a family business for over 50 years. Effie was an active member of the Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish - St. Thomas A Becket Church in Jefferson Hills and its Ladies of Charity.  She was also an active member of the Croatian Fraternal Union St. George Lodge #248 and was extemely proud of her Croatian heritage.  She served as a member of the Lodge Board of Trustees, as well as a delegate to the National CFU conventions. Effie enjoyed getting together with her "Church Ladies" friend group that often got together for breakfast.  She was an excellent cook and an even better baker. Her family will remember her as extremely generous in all aspects of her life., She adored her family, especially her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.  She loved big, shared big, gave big, cooked big, and lived a big full life with a matching big personality.  And that is why she leaves such a big hole in their hearts.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George J. Liptak, who passed away January 5 2006, and her siblings Thomas Batinich, Carol Batinich and Anna Mae Majernik.  Effie is survived by her children Renee (Roger) Vonada of Carnegie and George (Susan) Liptak of Upper St. Clair; her grandchildren Andrew and Morgan Vonada and Nathan, Rachel, and Michael Liptak; her siblings Marion Lokmer of Chargrin Falls, OH, Joan Atkinson of Jefferson Hills, PA and Frances Smith of Kennebunk, ME; and also many beloved nieces and nephews.

Huwalt Sr. and late Helen (Smocer) Huwalt. He was a former welder with U.S. Steel-Duquesne Works for 19 years, a retired Stationary Engineer for Allegheny County at the Greater Pittsburgh International Airport and a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish-Holy Trinity Church. He was a master of tinkering, loved fishing, trap shooting and camping in Erie. He proudly served his country in the Marine Corps. during the Vietnam War. Thomas is the beloved husband of 53 years to Georgean (Perhac) Huwalt; father of Scott (Erin) Huwalt of South Park and Amy (late Edward) Wilson of Port Vue; grandfather of Maura, Zachary, and Daniel Huwalt, Ayla and Avery Wilson and preceded in death by grandson Joshua Huwalt; brother of Gary Huwalt of White Oak; uncle of Eric Huwalt, Melissa Hathaway and Ashley May. He is also survived by a great niece and several great nephews and his mother-in-law Pauline (late John) Perhac. There will be No Visitation. Service will be held on Friday, September 30, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies followed by Military Honors.
