Saundra E. Salvi, age 71, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on September 26, 2022.  She was the wife of Michael Salvi and daughter of Santa (Raffle) Mikita and the late Peter Mikita, Jr.  In addition to her husband, she is survived by children, Steven (Jennifer) Salvi and Jared (Alyson) Salvi. She is also survived by ten grandchildren. Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday from 3-7 p.m. The funeral service will be held at Norwin Alliance Church on Thursday at 11 a.m. Everyone is asked to please meet at the church. Louise Mallozzi, age 99 of Elizabeth Twp. and formerly of Clairton, passed away at home on Thursday, September 29, 2022.  Born October 11, 1922 in Besancon, France, she was a daughter of the the late Alexander and Josephine (Gennari) Cola.  A member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish - St. Clare of Assisi Church, Clairton, Louise was a member of the St. Clare of Assisi Parish Womens Guild and the Sons of Columbus, Genova Council #6.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dominick Mallozzi, Jr., who passed away April 15, 1975, her daughter Phyllis (Mallozzi) Petros, and her son Ronald D. Mallozzi.  Louise is survived by her daughter Nancy (Larry) Toth of Elizabeth Twp., her grandson Michael (Renee) Toth of South Park; her great-grandsons Alex and Joey Toth; her son-in-law Tom Petros of Port St. Lucie, FL; and also nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mary Jane Dewyer, age 93, of White Oak, died on Thursday, September 29, 2022. She was born in McKeesport on January 30, 1929 and is the daughter of the late Albert Spear and Hazel Schoeller Cox and the wife of the late Robert W. Dewyer. She graduated from McKeesport High School and attended business college in McKeesport. She was employed as a secretary at USX Edgar Thompson Works for almost 35 years and also employed at USX Homestead Works and Christy Park Works for some time. She was a member of the First Christian Church in McKeesport and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Jay Patrick Null, 60, of McKeesport, formerly of Elizabeth Township, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2022 after a courageous battle with ALS. He was born December 4, 1961 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Robert M. Null, Sr., and the late Mary M. (Madden) Null. Jay was a member of Sts. Joachim and Anne Parish- St. Michael Church in Elizabeth Township and was also a member of the church choir. Jay was a 1979 graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School and received his Bachelor's degree from Penn State University and his MBA from Waynesburg University. He was a Senior Marketing Engineer for Westinghouse. Jay was a very kind, compassionate man who cared very deeply for his family, friends and neighbors. He loved dogs, gardening, and was an excellent cook and baker.

Smerkol, 69, of White Oak, died Sept. 28, 2022.  He is the son of thelate Grant and Ardith (Rogers) Smerkol and husband of the late Ilene (Horvath) Smerkol.  He is survived by his daughter Beverly Smerkol; son James (Connie) Mattox; grandchildren Olivia, Grant and Wyatt; brothers Daniel Smerkol, Russell Bell, Bruce Smerkol, Edward Smerkol and Matthew Smerkol; sisters Noreen Rakaczky and Becky Scott; also nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by brothers Timothy Bell and Grant “Willy” Smerkol.  Friends received Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, Duquesne on Sun. from 5 to 7.  A funeral blessing will be held Mon. 11:00 am in the funeral home with Father Tom Lewandowsky.

He was born October 13, 1938 in Pittsburgh and was the son of the late Henry V. and Margaret (Heidish) Ziegler. Ronald was a member of Central Highlands Community United Methodist Church in Elizabeth Township and was retired from Bombardier in West Mifflin. He was a US Army Veteran. Ronald loved cars, woodworking and traveling. He was a perfectionist at everything he did.

Edward G. Tirk, age 81, of North Huntingdon, died September 26, 2022, at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital. Born February 24, 1941, in Altus, OK, he was the son of the late George E. and Mary Jane (Larouere) Tirk and husband of Merry (Humphries) Tirk. 
Edward had a lucrative career with Kodak, touring the country as a Technical Sales Rep. After he retired from Kodak, he became Sales and Marketing Manager for Filmet. He served as Past President of the Norwin Lions. Ed was a motorcycle enthusiast, rode for many years, and was a member of the PA Spyder Riders. 
In addition to his wife, Ed is survived by children, Eric (Christine) Tirk, Christopher (Christine) Tirk, and Natalie (John) Masten; grandchildren, Kailee Spaur and Savanna Tirk; sister, Diane (David) Owen; nephew, Daniel (Cara) Owen; great-nieces, Greta and Liv Owen; brother in law Robert Humphries: mother of his children and good friend, Patricia Tirk-Arena and his cat BooBoo. 
In addition to his parents, Ed was also preceded in death by a grandson, Simon, and a great-grandson, Leo.

Kipling "Kip" Tornblom

  Kipling “Kip” Tornblom, 60 of North Huntingdon died unexpectedly September 25,2022. He is the son of James and Delores (Hursh) Tornblom. His battle ended in the arms of his loving wife and best buddy of forty years Cathy (Jackowski) Tornblom; daughters Heather (Kevin) DeFrancesco and Amber (James) Nicholls; granddaughters Riley Nicholls (13) who was his true “buddy guy”, Giavanna (4) and Valentina (3) DeFrancesco who he referred to as “his Indians”. Kip was a simple kind of guy and his only wish was that we all stay happy and love one another unconditionally. Sisters Loreen (John) Vigne, Darla (Jeff) Kelly, Honey (Joe) Ebbitt; brother Shawn (Tracey) Tornblom; also several nieces and nephews; and multiple close friends. Kip was an AVID Trump supporter “FJB”. Kip was a “Jack of all trades”, a master craftsmen… building his own home and helping numerous others build theirs. His true adoration of American made Chevy and GMC trucks was quite obvious. Kip had unwavering admiration for John Deere tractors. Please remember his sense of humor and how he loved to laugh, listening to country music… and as Hank said… “A country boy can survive” Kip was a tremendous husband, father and grandfather! His love for his family and friends was unwavering and unconditional. Cremation service by Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home. A private celebration of Kip’s life is being held at his home, the “Stronghold” in his honor.

Robert E. Babcock, age 95, of White Oak, died September 25, 2022, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital.  Born September 13, 1927, in Massena, NY, he was the son of the late Emerson W. and Gertrude L. (Brown) Babcock. The husband of the late Beverly J. (Derouchie) Babcock and Patricia H. (Petach) Babcock.
Robert served in the U.S. Navy and retired as a Lieutenant Commander after 24 years spent primarily as a pilot and flight instructor.  He then went on to teach at Penn State University in McKeesport for 22 years in the Electrical Engineering Technology program.  Robert was a 72-year member of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, having been raised a Master Mason in 1950.  He was also a long-time member of the American Legion in White Oak and the Two Rivers Amateur Radio Club of the Monongahela and Yough River Valley.  He was an avid outdoorsman in his earlier years, and especially liked boating, fishing, and camping. He was technically inclined, so he always took very good care of his home, cars, radios, and computers; he was quick to offer a hand to others with theirs as well. In his later years, he enjoyed traveling around the country by RV and spending time with family.

Lawrence "Larry" A. Sinchar

Lawrence "Larry" A. Sinchar, 63, of North Huntingdon, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at UPMC East.  He was born April 27, 1959, a son of the late John E. and Margaret (Jozwick) Sinchar.  Larry retired in 2021 after over 40 years of service as an auto body technician from Riverview Chevrolet, (formerly Tom Clark Chevrolet).  He was a graduate of Serra Catholic High School and a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.  He was a social member of Hartford Heights Firemen's Club, Fairmont Hahntown Fire Dept. Social Club, Irwin Moose Lodge #236 and St. Joseph Polish Club where everyone knew him as Uncle Larry.  He was a loyal customer of Mr. Smokes where he stopped to play his numbers each day.  He never hit the big one but never lost hope.  He loved Miller Lite and his books of the year, and hated sprinkles on birthday cakes.  Over the years, he belonged to both bowling and golf leagues with the Polish National Alliance #352.  He is survived by his wife, Joanna Sinchar; step daughter, Kylie (Richard) Smith; pappy to Alexee Smith and Coleson Smith.  He is the youngest of five brothers, Ronald, Gerald (Carol), Mark, Gregory (Bernadette); numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA  15642.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home Chapel. James V. Filotei, 94, of North Huntingdon, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2022 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was born February 2, 1928 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Alex and Mary (Moffa) Filotei.  He was the husband of the late Mildred "Millie" Miscevich Filotei, who passed away August 28, 2021. He was a WWII US Navy Veteran and for his service he was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and The Philippine Independence Medal.  James went on to work for both Teledyne First Sterling and General Carbide Corp, where he was Chief Engineer of the plant. He was a member of Prayer Time Cathedral in White Oak. He enjoyed golfing and was also an award winning artist later in life. James was a member of The Loyal Order of The Moose, Lodge 236 in Irwin, American Legion Post 472 in Manor, and ISDA Lodge 57. He will be greatly missed.

Annie K. (Davies) Urban, 86, of Glassport, fell asleep in the Lord peacefully on Tuesday, September 28, 2022 in Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Born March 29, 1936, in Wheeling WV, she was the daughter of the late David R. and Martha K. (Pickard) Davies. Mrs. Urban was a wonderful homemaker and a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Duquesne. Beloved wife of 50 years to the late Joseph E. Urban Jr., she was the loving mother of David (Sue) Urban of Glassport, Joseph Urban of Denver, Colorado, Scott (Barb) Urban of Glassport, and Vicki (Tony) Tarli of Liberty Boro. She was the proud grandmother of 5 grandchildren. Chris Urban (Tammy), Melissa Runion (Keith), Joanne Urban, Taylor Urban, and Jenni Urban, also 6 great grandchildren, Laney, Maggie, Bella, Isaiah, Mariyah, Keith, and one new baby soon to be here. She is also survived by her life-long friend of 83yrs. Tish Rogers of West Mifflin.

Family and friends will be received from 2-8PM on Friday, September 30, 2022 in the William S. Skovranko Memorial Home, Inc., 828 Richford Street, Duquesne. A Blessing in the Memorial Home on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at 10:30AM will be followed by Funeral Liturgy at 11AM in Ss. Peter and Paul Church with Rev. David Abernethy as celebrant. Burial will follow in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, West Mifflin.
