James Stephen Makosey, 88, of Irwin, passed away Friday, April 12, 2024. He was born August 19, 1935 in McKeesport and was the son of the late John and Mary (Telesko) Makosey. He was the husband of the late Ellen (Gross) Makosey who passed away February 15, 2019. They were married for 55 years. Jim was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and served as a pilot in the USAF Air National Guard. He worked at the Bettis Atomic Power Lab, Latrobe Steel and was a manager at the Harbison Walker Research Center in West Mifflin. He co-founded McKeesport Auto Body, owned and operated a classic car dealership, and carried out industrial consulting. He was very proud of the home that he built for Ellen's and his retirement. He was a great husband and father, loved to joke and pull pranks. He had a lifelong passion for golf and classic cars.

She was a hostess at the former Paule’s Lookout restaurant, a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, former Christ the Light of the World Parish-Holy Name Church. She loved to cook and bake.
Joanne is the beloved wife to John “Jake” Paule for 64 years; mother of Renee (Bruce) Chase of Durham, NC, John David (Jackie) Paule of Mars, PA, and Jill Paule of Chesapeake, VA; grandmother of Maddison, Coleman, Jake, Emily, Connor and Tucker; sister of Marianne (Earl) Zimmerle of Pensicola, FL, late Beverly (late Don) Ishol, late Thomas (wife Darlene survives) Steele of Ohio.

_Heather L. Hurd, 55, of Glassport passed away peacefully with her family by her side, on April 12, 2024. She is the daughter of Alice (Gulyban) Hurd and the late Roger (Cindy) Hurd. Shawn Scott Schultz, 65, of Elizabeth Township, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. He was born September 28, 1958 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Watson and Florence (Sweet) Schultz. Shawn was a member of the former First United Presbyterian Church of Boston and was a retired machinist for the former Daugherty Tool and Die. He was a 1976 graduate of South Allegheny High and was a lifetime member of the Port Vue Volunteer Fire Company.

Elizabeth "Betty Rae" Perrone, age 92 of McKeesport, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and her best friend on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. Born August 6, 1931 in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Grace (Cosanella) Perino. Betty Rae owned her own beauty shop, worked her way up the ladder as an underwriter and eventual vice president at Housing Opportunity in McKeesport, and worked as a waitress and cook for her family's 5th. Ave. Cafe in McKeesport. Often busy with work, she always found time to be a full time mother raising her son and eventually being an amazing grandmother to her grandchildren. She will be remembered as the leader of her family who always put them first, a person who lived her life selflessly, an animal lover who continually looked after and took in strays, and the best woman she could be to her family. They will miss her dearly. Besides her parents, Betty Rae was preceded in death by her husband Armond Perrone, who passed away November 7, 1999, and her only sibling Joseph Perino. She is survived by her son Armond Wayne Perrone (Patricia Katz) of Orlando, FL; her grandchildren (to whom she will forever be "GoGo") Ashley (Ryan) Hendrickson of Cecil Twp., Alyson (Matthew) Gillespie of Greentree, Armond Wayne Perrone, Jr. of Tallmadge, OH, and Anthony Perrone of Bridgeville; her great-grandchildren Cole, Carter, Griffin Rae, and Ella; Lisa Perrone -- mother to her precious grandchildren; and countless Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and friends, some of whom passed away and some of whom surviving, who she loved so much over the years.

She was born in Pittsburgh, PA on May 8, 1932, grew up in Forest Hills, PA, and was the daughter of the late Walter and Anna Szmyd Matusz. She was also the wife of the late Edward A. Peterson, Sr., who died on October 15, 2015. Mary Ann was employed as a secretary for the University of Pittsburgh for many years.

Judith A. Evans, 76, of North Huntingdon, departed this earth April 11, 2024. She was born June 10, 1947 in Mckeesport and was the youngest of six children and the only girl to the late John Elmer and Viola Rosetta (Bookamer) Evans. In her youth she was an accomplished gymnast, training locally at Turner’s Gym nearly qualifying for the US Olympic Team in 1968. Until recently, Judy ran her own successful business having to retire for health reasons. She is survived by her daughters, Kristin Carlson of Penn Trafford, Kate (Jason) Zavacky of White Oak, brother Thomas (Diane) Evans of Port Vue, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Kirk Carlson, former spouse Michael A. Carlson, and brothers Jack Arnold Evans, William E. Evans, James Douglas Evans, and Robert Bruce Evans. Henry W. Kalkbrenner, 81, of North Huntingdon, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2024. He was born June 30, 1942 and was the son of the late Frederick and Dorothy (Lewis) Kalkbrenner. He was the loving husband of 60 years to Anita Kalkbrenner. Henry was a United States Marine Corps veteran. He worked for U.S. Steel as a Blast Furnace Supervisor at the Duquesne and Edgar Thompson Works. He was also a member of the Duquesne Works Retirement Group. He loved hunting, fishing and golfing with his golf league at Butler's.
