Mark “Wink” Winkler, aka “Pap Walnut”, age 67, of Glassport, PA, died on Saturday, April 8, 2023. He was born in Glassport on February 20, 1956 and is the son of the late Theodore Ray and Sue Merritt Winkler. He proudly served in the United States Navy and was later employed as an auto body technician at various companies throughout Allegheny County. He enjoyed going to Keystone Lake and working on cars. His favorite color was blue, and his favorite flowers are lilacs and hydrangeas.

August "Auggie" "Mo" Walser, 95, of North Versailles and Bedford, Pa passed away Friday, April 7, 2023 at Select Specialty Hospital, McKeesport. He was born July 23, 1927 in North Braddock a son of the late Emil and Margaret (Busch) Walser. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a heavy equipment mechanic by Caterpillar. August was a graduate of Turtle Creek High School. He attended the Crossroads Bible Church in Bedford.  Was a member of the  East McKeesport VFW,  The American Legion in Bedford along with various VFW's in the Bedford area. He enjoyed sitting on his porch in Bedford, being outdoors, and feeding the hummingbirds. August served our country during WWII with the U.S. Navy as a Fireman First Class V-6. He was preceded in death by his first wife Betty Walser; his companion, Faye Lang;  brothers Willie, Emil and Adolph, sisters Angeline, Anna, and Kickle and step daughter Judy Gietl. He is survived by son Emil Walser of California, stepson, Robert Giles and family  of North Versailles, nieces: Denise (Vince) Nardozi, Melissa Szumetz, Melanie Kotvas and additional  nieces,  nephews & great nieces and nephews.  Dear friends, James Lang,  Paul and Jamie Trunzo, and many close friends in Bedford Pa.  Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon on Wednesday from 2-7 p.m. Funeral service Thursday 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with interment to follow in Grandview Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Crossroads Bible Church in Bedford.

Walter W. “Butch” Tucker, age 61, of Port Vue, passed away on April 5, 2023, at home.  Born in McKeesport on May 12, 1961, he was the son of the late Walter and Dolores (Hunter) Tucker. He worked for Vegley Welding, McKee Asphalt, BK Electric and RSV Construction. He enjoyed his grandchildren, hunting and riding his motorcycle. He is the husband of Deborah (Bowling) Tucker for 35 years; father of Ryan (Rachel) Tucker of Port Vue, Jeanna (Bob) Kremer of West Mifflin, Jared Tucker of Port Vue, Jennifer (Steve) Mihalko of Liberty Boro, Rebecca (James) Johnson of Alaska, Nathan (Deseree) Tucker of Elizabeth and Hunter Tucker of Port Vue; grandfather of Calem Linn-Tucker, Benjamin Tucker, Amelia Kremer, Nathena Tucker, Olivia Mihalko, Nathan Tucker Jr., and Eli Johnson; brother of Barbara (Bill) Atkins of Port Vue, Wendy (Chuck Sr.) Bernath of McKeesport, Bonnie Sturkie of North Carolina and the late Peggy Tomko. Barbara M. Romesburg, 76, of Lincoln Borough, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2023. She was born in McKeesport on September 6, 1946 and was the daughter to the late Edward and Mary (Furman) Szmuc. Barb was retired from a long time career in the 'Better Sportswear' division at Kaufmann's in Century III. She loved to sit in the sun and read a good book; enjoying time with her grandchildren and taking them to different places, like mini-golf or the aviary; but she also loved the ocean and the family's annual trip to Myrtle Beach.

R. Donald Similo, age 91 of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Friday, April 7, 2023 in UPMC East Hospital, Monroeville.  Born September 20, 1931 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Ferino "Pete" and Laura (Maloney) Similo. Don joins his wife, the late Arlene L. (Castor) Similo (1939-2005), to whom he was married for 44 years.  He received both his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Pittsburgh.  Don started his career at Elizabeth Forward High School, where he was a business teacher as well as a football coach and athletic director.  He was employed by California University of Pennsylvania as a financial aid director and accounting professor.  After his retirement from Cal, he continued his CPA private practice until 2021.  Don was also civically minded and active, serving as an Elizabeth Township Commissioner for 40 years.  He was a parishioner of Sts. Joachim and Anne Parish - St. Michael's Church where he was a member of the ushers' club, finance committee, and Knights of Columbus.  Don was also, as of the date of his passing, the oldest member and past president of the Youghiogheny Country Club.  In his spare time, he participated in various golf leagues and was a fan of Penn State Football and Pittsburgh sports teams.

Dennis Rosenberger, 75, of Hanover Park, Ill., left us March 26, 2023. In addition to his adored wife, Eleanor, with whom he would have celebrated his 55th anniversary this fall, he is survived by his daughters, Janice Rosenberger and Nancy (Jose) Gutierrez; granddaughters Elizabeth (James) Hurlbut, Lisa and Heidi Gutierrez, and Great-Grandsons, James and Oscar Hurlbut. He also leaves behind his loving Sister, Karen Miller, and many Cousins. Born and raised in McKeesport, Dennis moved to Illinois in 1970 with his wife. He worked in the steel industry at various levels from beginning to end, retiring in 2020. As requested by him, no funeral or memorial will be held, and interment of his cremains will be private. If you would like to honor his memory, donations to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated. Arrangements were in the care of Grove Memorial Chapel, Elk Grove Village, Ill.

Oren Sinko, age 88, formerly of Redondo Beach, CA, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2023 at Lake Havasu City, AZ. An Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he retired as a flight engineer for Flying Tigers that became FedEx. He was a recreational pilot who also taught others to fly. Born April 11, 1934 in Glassport, he was a son of the late Walter and Julia (Kazanich) Sinko. He is survived by his brother, Nicholas Sinko of Daniels, WV; sister, Barbara (John) Phillips of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; brother, Valery (Eunice) Sinko of Hialeah, FL; and sister, Marie (Lee) McCracken of Lake Havasu City, AZ; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Willa. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue, Elizabeth on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 from 11 AM until the time of funeral service at 1 PM in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. She was a former Elizabeth Twp. Commissioner for 36 years and a devoted mother and grandmother. Born October 19, 1944 in Charleroi, she was a daughter of the late Phillip Joseph and Lillian (Schemento) Totora. She is survived by her husband, Thomas R. Beckowitz; daughter, Tammy (AJ) Hadad of Elizabeth Twp.; sons, Thomas (Lori) Beckowitz of North Huntingdon and Timothy Beckowitz of White Oak; grandchildren, Joshua and Nicole Beckowitz, Timothy Sowa and Jacob Weiss. Theodore Panczyk, 99, of North Versailles, passed away Monday, April 03, 2023. He was born September 8, 1923 in Chalfant, a son of the late Joseph and Katherine (Schultz) Panczyk. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife Betty, daughter Janie, brother Francis Panczyk, and sisters Sophia Powell, Jean Martin, Florence Kearns, and Joan Crissman. Ted was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, North Versailles. He was an Army veteran who served in WWII and the Korean War. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his heroic achievement in action on January 23, 1945 near Bennwihr, France.

He worked for H.J. Heinz Company for 35 years as a purchasing manager. He is survived by his children Nancy Connolly (David Pena) and Carol (Douglas) Miller; grandchildren Nicole Connolly, Matthew Pena, Brendan Miller, and Ethan Miller; also nieces and nephews. Ted is remembered for his keen sense of humor, love of card playing , fan of the Steelers and Pirates, and his kindness that made him a friend to all.
