After completing his life of service to God, his family, community and country, Bill Adams, 92, a lifelong resident of Duquesne, PA passed from this life to everlasting life on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 surrounded by his family. Bill’s legacy as a servant of the Lord is far-reaching. At the early age of 19, he served his country in the Army earning five battle stars in the European Theatre during WWII. He began his community service as a police officer for the City of Duquesne. Following his retirement, he worked as a homicide detective for Allegheny County. Bill was later employed as a security guard of the Frick Art Museum in Pittsburgh.

Verna M. Flohr, age 76, of McKeesport, died December 12, 2016, at Riverside Care Center with her family at her side. Born September 9, 1940, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Corrine (Lees) Hall and the wife of the late John R. "Dusty" Flohr. Verna retired from the G.C. Murphy Company Sign Shop, where she worked as a graphic artist for nearly 30 years. She then worked at the Jefferson Hospital Cafeteria and she was an in home care giver for many years. Verna was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. She enjoyed shuffle board, bingo and she had a passion for traveling and shopping. She is survived by children, Deborah (Daniel) Hurley of White Oak, Elizabeth Sostaric of mcKeesport, Tammy Duran of McKeesport, Dale Flohr of Pittsburgh and Gregg Flohr of Jacksonville, NC; grandchildren, Scott (Jackie) Hurley, Christopher Hurley, Jason Sostaric, Christine Sostaric, Mindy Duran, Rachel Duran, Chad (Maddie) Duran, Megan Flohr, Shannon Flohr, Mallory Flohr, Tabitha (Shane) Cook, Gregg Flohr and Jessica Flohr; great grandchildren, Darryl, Caden, Tristen; great aunt, Gertrude Curry; sister-in-law, Stella Hall; daughter-in-law, Jareen Flohr; many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends; and her beloved pet dog "Honey." In addition to her parents and husband, Verna was also preceded in death by siblings, Thomas, Robert and William Hall. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, December 15, 2016, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will held in the funeral home chapel on Friday, December 16, 2016, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in McKeesport & Versailles Cemetery. Joan Krejdovsky, age 76 of White Oak, passed away on December 15, 2016. Born August 16, 1940 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late James L. and Elizabeth (Hoffman) Perhach, and loving wife of the late Daniel Krejdovsky. Joan graduated from the St. Francis School of Nursing and also belonged to their Alumni Association. She began her career as a Registered Nurse in 1962, and up until recently, was still dedicated to helping others by working in the Quality Control Department at UPMC McKeesport Hospital. While she had passion for work, family was what brought her the most joy. Their interests were her interests and spending time with them is what made her the happiest. She is survived by her children, Matthew (Regina) Krejdovsky, Meg Pero, David (Karen) Krejdovsky, and Dan (Janette) Krejdovsky; grandchildren, Zachary (Colleen), Brittney (Shawn) Krznaric, Samantha, Nicole, Emma, Laney, and Daniel; great-grandson, Tristan; brothers, James (Judy) Lawrence and David (Annmarie) Perhach and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday, December 19, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at St. Angela Merici Church at 11 a.m. Fr. Robert “Bob” G. Joseph Getlak, age 64, of North Huntingdon passed away on Monday, December 12, 2016. He was born March 19, 1952 in Braddock, a son of the late George and Mary (Georgeff) Getlak. He retired after 30 years of being a mail carrier for the Braddock Post Office and he had worked at the Gold Circle Store in Braddock Hills. He was a big fan of the Steelers, Penguins and Pirates, and he had coached a softball team in the Regent Square area. He loved comic book and sports card collecting, and was at the flea markets at Greater Valley, Olympia and East Land.

Mildred L. Mercurio, age 88, of McKeesport, died Dec. 9th, 2016, at Riverside Nursing Center in McKeesport. She was a daughter of the late Steven and Della (Novosel) Keresman. Mildred was the beloved wife of the late Patrick J. Mercurio, who died Oct. 24th, of this year.
Mildred was a member of St. Patrick Church. She was a homemaker, wonderful cook, and “the best mother in the whole world”.
