Frederick “Fredster” Robert Kearney Sr., 72, of Jefferson Hills, formerly of Clairton / Pleasant Hills, passed away at home on Sunday, May 13, 2018. He was born March 24, 1946, in Pittsburgh, to the late Frederick S. and Rita Hanczyk Kearney. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Cathy Smarra Kearney; children, Sherri (Brian) Peternel of Jefferson Hills, Jacqueline (Craig) Kearney of Glassport, Jessica Gouker of Jefferson Hills, Frederick R. (Nicole) Kearney Jr. of Whitehall; grandchildren, Joelle, Shawn, Cheyanne (Steve), Alyssa, Nathan, Hannah, KayCee; great-grandchildren, Jayden & LayLah. Fred was a veteran of the US Army having served in the 101st Airborne during the Vietnam War, a Cable Technician, a manager for Subway, enjoyed Bingo, Bowling, fishing, camping, Sci-Fi, and Klondikes. Visitation will take place on Thursday, May 17, 2018 from 9 am – 12 pm at S. M. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 432 N. 6th Street, Clairton, PA 15025. A memorial service will occur after visitation at 12 pm at the funeral home followed by interment at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in McMurray, PA. William F. "Bill" Styche, 78, of Elizabeth Township, died Friday, May 11, 2018. He was born May 23, 1939 in Pittsburgh and was the son of the late Elmer and Florence (Similo) Styche. Bill was a retired Principal and Teacher with the Elizabeth Forward School District and was also an Educational Consultant with the Academy Charter School. He was a member of the Buena Vista Vol Fire Co . He is survived by his wife, Janet (Mintz) Styche, son, William G. (Kimberly) Styche of Buena Vista, daughter, Tricia (Thomas) Lowden of Greensburg, grandchildren, Ryan (Kimberly), Tyler, Jaianne and Thomas.

Charles P. "Chick" Sloss, 89, of West Mifflin, died peacefully on Friday, May 11, 2018 in Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Born in Duquesne, May 19, 1928, he was the son of the late Edward and Violet (Morgan) Sloss. Mr. Sloss was a member of Christ the Light of the World Parish, Duquesne, a retired employee of the Fisher Body Plant of General Motors and the Union Rail Road Company. Mr. Sloss was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He is survived by his loving wife, Juanita Bickus Sloss, four daughters, Cheryl (Larry) Stefan, Beverly (John) Seba, Karen Boytos and Nita (Richard) Ignat, all of West Mifflin; a brother, Thomas Sloss, fifteen grand children and twenty-four great grandchildren.

Phyllis F. (Pickett) Thiem, 82, of Irwin, died Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Hempfield Manor, Greensburg. She was born June 29, 1935 in Flemington, WV, the daughter of the late Ovid Festtes Pickett and Mary Louise (Snider) Jack and was also preceded in death by a grandson Richard Lee Nicholas Jr. and a brother Jamie Andre Pickett. Phyllis was a former employee of First Student, a former seamstress for Dante Fashions, and Annette Fashions, and was a former hairdresser. She served on Irwin Borough Council from 2005 to 2015 and was a member of the Democratic Committee, the ILGWU, and the Moose Lodge and Fraternal Order of Eagles, both of Irwin. Surviving are her step father Robert Jack of Apollo; her children Chutty Bender (Marcia Clark) of Salem, OH, Lanny Bender (Carol) of Chippewa Township, Candy Greiner (Chuck) of Irwin, Cookie Nicholas of Greensburg, Shelly Glass of Irwin, and Marjorie Gongaware (Rich Todd) of Scottdale; her grandchildren Jenna Nicholas, Nina Glass, Travis, Justin, and Austin Gongaware, and Christie, Joshua, and Jesse Bender; and her great grandchildren Linsay Gongaware, and Hayden, Caroline, and Maverick Bender.

Dorothy P. (Mikrut) Zych,75, of North Huntingdon, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Allegheny General Hospital. She was born August 13, 1942 in McKeesport, PA and was the daughter of the late Edward J. and Helen B. (Romanek) Mikrut. Dorothy was a registered nurse and retired from Jefferson Hospital. Most recently, she worked with her husband in their music business. She was a member of St. Agnes Church in North Huntingdon and was also a member of Braddock Hospital Alumni Association. She loved gardening, scrap booking, cooking, and relaxing at the beach. Her true love was spending time with her family and spoiling her three grandchildren. She was also an avid Penguins hockey fan. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Albert J. "Al" Zych; son Richard J. Zych of Phoenix, AZ; daughters Lori L. (David) Duvall of Neptune Beach, FL, and Debi L. (Brett) Dennis of Williamsport, MD; grandchildren Brandon Dennis, Bradley Dennis, and Jacob Duvall; sister Linda (Ron) Sherer of North Huntingdon, as well as many special nieces and nephews.
