Ronald A. Banks, Jr., age 49, of McKeesport, died June 4, 2017 at Trinity West Hospital in Steubenville, OH.  Born June 8, 1967 in McKeesport, he was the son of Lois (Downie) and the late Ronald A. Banks, Sr.  He was a former bagpiper with the Macdonald Pipe Band, a member of the Clairton Sportsman Club and the Tau Phi Delta Fraternity at Penn State.  Ronald was an avid hunter and fisherman.  In addition to his mother, he is survived by daughters, Josie and Mattie Banks, brother, Dan (Lynn) Banks; niece, Megan Banks; nephew, Jared Banks, and ex-wife and great friend Julie Warf Banks.  Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday from 12-4 and 6-8 p.m.  A funeral service will be held on Monday, 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.  Pastor Alan Olson will officiate.  Interment will follow at Mt. David William Horvatin, 68, of Dravosburg, died Wednesday June 7, 2017. He was born May 13, 1949 in El Monte, CA, and was the son of the late William George and Goldie Barlow Horvatin. David was retired from the Maintance Dept. of the McKeesport Area School District and was a US Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He is survived by his wife, Karol L. Fawcett Horvatin, son, David W. (Jennifer) Horvatin, Jr., of Lakeland, FL, daughter, Karrie I. Horvatin of Dravosburg, sisters, Deanna (Mel) Forsythe of Delmont and Rita Rontondo of Murrell Inlet, SC, brothers, Wayne Horvatin of Dravosburg and Ronald Horvatin of Texas, grandchildren, Breeana Horvatin and Braydon Horvatin, nieces, nephews, and his grand-dog, Daisy.

She was the most loving mother, grandmother and woman to all who knew her. She was the former owner of a flower shop and an upholstery shop. She was a former crossing guard and Auxiliary Policewoman in Elizabeth.

Helen Obrosky, 98, of Duquesne, died June 7, 2017.  She is the daughter of the late Frank and Josephine (Rakowska) Wozniak.  Wife of the late David Obrosky.  Helen is survived by her daughter Janice Girovsky of McKeesport; son Larry (Elizabeth) Obrosky of West Mifflin; grandchildren Jennifer (Jim) McCalla of West Mifflin and Paul Obrosky of West Mifflin and great granddaughter Ashley McCalla.  She was a member of  St. Hedwig. Church.  Friends received Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, Duquesne, Mon. from 10:00 to 11:00 am at which time a blessing will be held with Father Tom Lewandowsky.  Interment will be private.  The family would like to sincerely thank Three Rivers Hospice for all their kindness and care they gave to Helen, especially Ashley, Elysha and Julie.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contribtions may be made to your favorite charity.

Dorothy B. Reed, age 88 of The Palms at O’Neil, formerly of Port Vue, died June 6, 2017. Born October 6, 1928 in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Louis D. and Margaret (Griffin) Breitinger, and loving wife of the late Allen Reed. Dorothy was a graduate of Clairton   High School, and later went on to receive her degree from Robert Morris College. She began her career in the financial and accounting industry, working for G.C. Murphy Home Office in McKeesport, Cox’s in McKeesport, and later worked for Mr. Michael Miklos. She was a long time member of the Port Vue United Methodist Church, the Port Vue Women’s Club, and the Order of the Eastern Star. In her free time, she loved going to the library and reading novels. Her greatest joy was the time spent with her husband traveling the world on cruise ships. She is survived by her two sons, Garry Reed and Craig Reed, both of Port Vue. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her faithful dog, Cookie. Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Friday, June 9, 2017 from 9 a.m. until time of funeral service at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Pastor Jody Dausey will officiate. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park. Sondra Joyce Brandt Talavera, 61, of Prairie Village, Kansas, died April 9, 2017 in St Luke’s Hospital South in Overland Park, Kansas. Born in McKeesport on October 12, 1955, she was a daughter of the late Richard Barclay Brandt and the late Nancy Rader Brandt.

Sondra was a devoted mother and is survived by her beloved daughters Amanda (Beau) Blochlinger of Leawood, Kansas and Monica Talavera of Fairway, Kansas., sister Jackie (Paul) Lapkowicz and brother Paul (Kathy) Brandt all of White Oak, Nieces Kellie Kerston of McKeesport and Dana (Brian }Shaner of Waterford, MI, Nephews Michael Lapkowicz of Versailles, Justin (Laura) Brandt of Flemington, NJ, and Tyler Brandt of White Oak, an uncle Robert Brandt of Collegeville, Pa, great nieces, great nephew, cousins and friends.
