Patricia L. (Eckenrod) Stefancis Rubright, age 78, of Wendel, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017. She was born December 22, 1938 in East Pittsburgh, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Sophie (Perello) Eckenrod. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in North Huntingdon. She worked for over 20 years in housekeeping at the Briarcliff Pavilion in North Huntingdon before retiring. She is survived by her son Eric (Lisa) Stefancis of Wendel; granddaughter Brittney Stefancis; brother Lawrence (Renee) Eckenrod of East McKeesport; and nieces and nephews. Services are private.

Robert Ross Mowry, 91, of Irwin, died Sunday October 15, 2017. He was born November 9, 1925 in Irwin, a son of the late Glenn and Grace (Bell) Mowry. He was a retired general foreman for Westinghouse Airbrake Co., Wilmerding, and a member of American Legion Post 359 and L.O.O.M., Lodge 236, both of Irwin. Bob was a Navy veteran of WWII and was recently recognized by the Tribune Review for being one of the last remaining survivors of an explosion on the USS Turner off the coast of New Jersey that killed 136 sailors in January of 1944. The cause of the explosion was never solved. He is survived by his wife Anne S. (Pertzog) Mowry; his children Bea (Tom) Airgood of Penn Hills, Robert R. (Jerilyn) Mowry of Kittanning, and Pam (Don) Wise of CA; grandchildren Robbie, Steve, Nikki, Matthew S. Mowry, Christina, Jennifer, and Chris; great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; brothers Gene Mowry of Plum and Sam Gibson of NC; also nieces and nephews.

She was born August 23, 1929 in Olyphant, and was the daughter of the late John and Martha Russen Sweda. She was the wife of the late Archpriest Dimitri H. Ermakov. She was a member of Dormition of the Holy Virgin Russian Orthodox Church in McKeesport. Martha was a switchboard operator for the former Bell of Pennsylvania. She is survived by her daughters, Matushka Larissa D. (Mitred Archpriest Stephan P.) Romanchak of The Villages, FL, Matushka Juliane D. (Protodeacon Stephen) Howanetz of Olyphant, and Martha D. Martin of McKeesport, son, Archpriest Dimitri D. (Matushka Natasha) Ermakov of West Mifflin, sister, Vera Wasacz of San Francisco, CA, 20 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A 1956 graduate of McKeesport High School, she most recently attended South Hills Bible Chapel. She was known to her family and friends for her wit, compassion, and her love of the Lord.

DONALD J. SLIVKA, 71, of Glassport died Oct. 14, 2017.

He is the son of the late Michael and Sally (Majzer) Slivka.  Don is survived by his girlfriend and companion, Gina Wawrzeniak; daughter Jennifer Slivka; son Mark D. Slivka; grandson Mark D. Slivka, Jr.; brother John (Linda) Slivka; nephews Jerry, John, Matthew and David and great nieces Zoe and Brooklyn. 

Don was a security guard for St. Moritz and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  Funeral arrangements are by Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport.

John served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, was an avid golfer and loved movies. He retired from the Pittsburgh Post office after 30 years of service. Huntingdon; grandchildren, Leonard White of Elizabeth, Aaron (Kristin Ruth) White of Carrick; brother, Judge (Jo) Rendulic of Henderson, Nevada; cousins, Carol Bernick of Forest Hills and her son Michael of N. Joan “Joanne” Steinkopf Sopko, 85, of Jefferson Hills passed away on Sunday October 15, 2017 at Baldwin Health Center.  She was born November 23, 1931 in McKeesport to the late Herman and Larue Nau Steinkopf. Joanne was the loving wife of the late Stephen M. Sopko who passed away in 2005. She is survived by sons, Stephen (Sandy) Sopko of Irwin, Michael (Laura) Sopko of Baldwin, Herman Sopko of Jefferson Hills; daughters, Bernice (Louis) Walsh of Clairton, Darlene Kelly of Speers, Suzie Krsul of Bethel Park, JoAnne (John) Makovich of Yukon, PA; grandchildren, Paulette, Joan, Tina, Corri, Bevelynn, Andrea, Mikey, Missy, Joey, Josh, Christina, Drew, Michael, Broc, Leita, Jesse, JD, Robbie, Scott; and 35 great-grandchildren.  Along with her parents and spouse, Joanne was preceded in death by son, John; brothers, William and Carl Steinkopf; and sisters, Jean Reigh and June Miller.  She was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Clairton, previously a member of Turner’s in McKeesport and VFW Auxiliary in Bethel Park.  Joanne enjoyed camping, fishing, and gardening.  Family and friends will be received on Sunday, October 22, 2017 from 11 am – 1 pm at S. M. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 432 N. 6th Street, Clairton, PA   15025. A Marine veteran serving during the Vietnam War, he was a former member of St. Michael Parish in Elizabeth Twp. and a lifetime member of West Newton Sportsman's Club. He enjoyed spending the summer at his camp in Potter County and sitting under the pavilion by the fire with an ice cold Coors Light. He loved his dog Max and hunting.
