Charles H. Dreer, 92, of North Huntingdon, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at UPMC East.  He was born, July 20, 1927 in McKeesport, a son of the late Webster and Pearl (Maurer) Dreer.  Prior to his retirement, Charles  was  employed by General Motors Fisher Body with over 30 years of dedicated service, and a veteran of the US Navy having served during WWII.  He was a member of Park Baptist Church, Versailles where he served on the Board of Deacons and Board of Trustees and volunteered for Meals on Wheels, McKeesport.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet  Clawson Dreer; son, Charles J. Dreer; daughters, Claudia O'Lear and Jodene Dreer; brothers, Ronald Dreer, Kenneth Summit and Bernard Summit.  He is survived by his son, William (Denise) Dreer; daughters, Beth (Carl) DeValkeneer, Brenda (Richard) Stinner; daughter-in-law, Joyce Dreer;  sister-in-law, Geraldine Dreer; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Friends will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the James W. Pauline Perhacs

Pauline Perhacs passed away peacefully on Monday, September 2, 2019 at the age of 99. She lived a long, full life. She was very social and loved to laugh. When Pauline laughed, it was contagious and caused all who were near her to laugh, too. Born August 7, 1920 in Duquesne, she was the daughter of the late Pauline (Kukechuk) and Theodore (Frank) Dyakon, and stepdaughter of the late Andrew Krotovich. Pauline met her husband, John Perhacs, at 15 and they were married when she was 17 years old. She is survived by her brother, Andrew (Duke) Dyakon and three children, Alvin Perhacs (Betty Ann), Robert Perhacs (Marianne) and Paula Baumgart (Karl), as well as nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Perhacs; brothers John, George and Michael Dyakon; and sisters Ann Krivacek, Mary Brush and Teresa Lubinski. 

Pauline was a highly successful saleswoman in the field of ladies' lingerie. She won trips as rewards and even devised her own thank you incentive gifts for her customers. One of the rewards she earned was a trip to Florida where she had lunch with the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus Performers. 

In her spare time, Pauline enjoyed gardening, walking in her neighborhood and cooking pork chops, lasagna, pierogies and much more. Her cookies and pies were favorites among friends and family. Some of the most popular included coconut cream, peach, pumpkin, apple, and more.

Possessing a strong love of singing and dancing, Pauline went dancing every Saturday night with her husband. Pauline enjoyed movies and at times watched more than one a day. She even devised her own rating system that she would carry around in her purse and pull out to give people her opinion on the latest box office hits. One of her favorites was physical comedy.

Nancy Jean "Jeannie" Basach, age 78 and formerly of Large, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2019 at HCR ManorCare Whitehall.  Born September 11, 1940 in Homestead, she was a daughter of the late Steven and Helen (Jerry) Fedor.  The former owner/operator of Nancy's Hair Fashions in Brentwood, Nancy was preceded in death by her husband John Basach, who passed away December 14, 1989, and her sisters Helen Hershberger and Barbara Stocker.  She is survived by her siblings Stephen (Kim) Fedor of West Mifflin, Betty Lou (Michael) Cloonan in West Mifflin, and Joseph "Bobby" (Annette) Fedor of Munhall; many nieces and nephews; and her dear friend Joan Foster.

Mary Ellen Welsh, 88, of North Huntingdon, peacefully passed away Saturday, August 31, 2019 at her home.  She was born December 10, 1930 in McKeesport, daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Fichera) Durante.  Mary Ellen enjoyed gardening, bowling and spending time with her grandchildren and other family members.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Welsh; and sister, Margaret Novak.  She is survived by her two sons, Joseph Welsh and his wife, Frederica and Robert Welsh; brother, Robert Durante; sister, Rose Chomanics; and four grandchildren, Ashley, Rob, Elizabeth and Nicholas.  Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday at the James W. Steven "Steve" J.  Brkovich, 71, of Conneaut Lake, passed away, Friday, August 30, 2019. He was born November 30, 1947 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Stephen "Peaches" and Helen (Lucza) Brkovich. He was a graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School where he played baseball and football and the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics in West Mifflin. Steve worked as a licensed mechanic and inspector for the former US Airways. He was a member of Our Lady, Queen of the Americas in Conneaut Lake  and was a former member of St. Margaret Mary Church in Moon Township. He was a 50 year member of the Croatian Fraternal Union of America and was a member of the International Association of Machinist Potomac Air Lodge # 1976.  He was also a member of the former Boston Volunteer Fire Co, in Elizabeth Township. Steve serves as Democratic Committeeman for Summit Township, Conneaut Lake.

He is survived by his children Carrie Nesbitt of Champion PA, and Kenneth Nesbitt of Plum Boro PA; sisters Mary Margaret Mellinger of Belle Vernon, Sue Ellen Fedorka of Glassport; 4 grandchildren. Walter Robert Frederick, Jr., age 65 of McKeesport, died Friday, August 30, 2019. He was born in McKeesport on September 28, 1953 and is the son of the late Walter Robert and Anna Mae Freund Frederick. Walter was a former member of the Eleventh Ward Club and a member of the McKeesport PNA Lodge #352. One of his favorite past times was watching all of the Pittsburgh sports teams.

He is survived by his brothers, William “Toots” (Lon Jean Krivda) Frederick of McKeesport and Charles Frederick of McKeesport. He is also survived by stepchildren, Lisa (Marty) Odenthal of McKeesport and Rick Dyga of West Mifflin, step great grandchildren, Zachery, Harley and Katie Odenthal and Jaiden and Wyatt Dyga, nephews, Chuckie and Billy Frederick, Zachary and Nathan Krivda, and niece, Natalie Gregg, also great nephew, Kameron and great niece, Kendahl. Gloria E. Murtha, age 93 of West Mifflin, died Thursday, August 29, 2019. She was born in Mount Clare, PA on November 4, 1925, the daughter of the late Norman G. and Leona B. Miller Schankel. Gloria enjoyed knitting, crocheting, word puzzles, bowling, and in her youth, she was an outstanding swimmer and diver. She loved to color so much that she started a coloring club at Locust Grove Personal Care. Gloria was a member of the USO and was also a World War II Coast Watcher. She was a Eucharistic Minister, taught CCD, and was a premarital counselor.

William (Bill) V. Angeloff, 87, of Elizabeth Township, died Tuesday, August 27, 2019 in Jefferson Hospital after a short illness.  He was born November 18, 1931 in Pittsburgh, and was the son of the late Velico and Rusa (Athanasova) Angeloff, who emmigrated from Bulgaria. Dad graduated from Carrick High School in 1949 and then attended the University of Pittsburgh, Class of 1958, and was a member of the Alpha Kappa Psi fraternity.  Bill served in the Army during the Korean War (1952-1954).  Prior to retirement, he was employed by the Internal Revenue Service; earlier employment was with Union National Bank, Three Rivers Bank and the Beaver Trust Company.  He was a long-time member of St. Denis and St. Patrick Catholic Churches, Elizabeth Township Ex Servicemen’s Association and Elizabeth Township Senior Citizens group.
