Shirley M. (Smith) Bour, age 86, of Forward Twp., passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at home. She enjoyed baking, cooking, reading, building puzzles, and entertaining friends and family in her home. She was a member of the Forward Twp. Senior Citizens. Born April 11, 1935 in Floreffe, she was a daughter of the late George and Elizabeth (Kennist) Smith and wife of the late Richard F. Bour. She is survived by daughters, Diane (Dean Sr.) Korber of West Newton, Robin (David) Wagner of Butler, Jacquline (Raymond) Sammartino of Erie and Linda (Patrick) Buono of Finleyville; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, David Smith of Penn Hills; sisters-in-law, Mildred Pearson of Florida and Dolores Betler of South Carolina; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by granddaughter, Samantha Rossiter. No visitation or services are planned. Vincent A. Maizer, Jr., age 77, of White Oak, formerly of McKeesport, died October 7. 2021, at UPMC McKeesport. Born October 28, 1943, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Vincent A. Sr. and Mary Louise (Miller) Mazier and the husband of Frances (Stibrik) Maizer.
Vince retired from US Steel, National Tube Works, where he was a pipe inspector. Afterward, he worked for J.C. Penney Co., in the maintenance department and, Giant Eagle, in the produce department. He was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish. Vince was also a member of the PNA #352 and 11th Ward Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the outdoors.

Poston, 87, of Glassport, died Oct. 6, 2021.  He is the son of the late Paul D. and Angela (Campbell) Poston and husband of the late MaryAnn (Dewar) Poston.  Lorie is surived by his sons Ed (Cathy) Poston, Tom (Vickie) Poston and Jim (Lisa) Poston; daughter Kathy (Danny) Montenary; sister Evelyn Coward; many grandchildren and great grandchildren and also nieces and nephews.  Lorie was retired from the Port Authority and was a member of the Glassport United Methodist Church and the Glassport Senior Citizens.  Friends will be received at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport on Mon. from 2 to 8.  A funeral service will be held Tues. 10:00 am at the funeral home.  Interment following Jefferson Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either Three Rivers Hospice; American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.

After a courageous battle with cancer, Joyce (Phillis) Gibson Link left this world to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, September 27, 2021 at Hope House Hospice in Cape Coral Florida. One doctor described her as a “Warrior”. Joyce was an active member of Cape Coral First United Methodist Church and prior to that she belonged to the First United Methodist Church in Clairton. She worked at Three Rivers Bank in Jefferson Hills for over 20 years and in 2001, retired to Florida. She was unable to sit idle, so she went to work in the Cape Coral Walmart for another 16 years. She was an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed cheering them on, so much so that on her final day on this earth she told her doctor that she might try out for the quarterback position. She was a kind, loving, caring, and giving Christian woman who left her mark on many. Born February 7, 1938 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late V. Blanche Phillis and Dene B. Phillis and wife of the late Jay F. Link. Left to cherish her memory are her son, Edward Dene Gibson and wife Debra of Jefferson Hills; three grandchildren, Justin Dene Gibson (Beth), Carly Lynne Coleman (Bobby) and Edward M. J. Gibson; eight great-grandchildren, Thomas “T.J.” Wintermyer, Dylan Gibson, Anthony Kobelak, Micayla Kobelak, Cameron Gibson, Jordan Gibson, Declan Hanratty and Harvey Gibson; sister, Jene Phillis Walker (Bobby) of Richmond VA; many cousins, nieces and nephews; her close friends in the Ladybugs bible study group; as well as Keefe and Mona Morabito and Cheryl Scott who were always there at her side in both good times and in her times of need. A memorial service will take place in Florida on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 10 AM in the Cape Coral First United Methodist Church, 4118 Coronado Pkwy, Cape Coral, FL. Kirkwood, 73, of Glassport died Oct. 6, 2021.  He is the son of the late Harrison and Dorothy (Kass) Kirkwood and husband of the late Florence (Michalosky) Kirkwood.  He is survived by his son Chad (Cathy) Kirkwood; grandchildren Morgan, Sydney, Madison, Ethan, and Elyssa; great grandson Waylon; sister Deidre (the late Terry) Cleary; nephews Keith (Amy) DiMarco and Mike (Bre) Cleary and niece Tanis (Shaun) DiMarco. Esther Whitehead, 91, of North Huntingdon, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Golden Heights Personal Care Home, Harrison City, PA. She was born March 11, 1930 in North Irwin, a daughter of the late Albert and Emma (Magnesson) Anderson. Prior to her retirement, Esther was an patient escort for Westmoreland Hospital and was a member of Norwin Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, crafting and loved celebrating holiday's. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin S. Whitehead; grandson, Matthew; and all of her siblings. She is survived by her son, Rodney Scott Whitehead and his wife, Toni; three daughters, Lynette Gulassa and her husband, William, Beverly Ference and her husband. Randal, and Shirlee Clair; grandchildren, Bryan (Amy), Michael (Whitney), Julie, Alyson, Billy (Roxanne), Kelly (Andrew), Jeffrey (Stephanie), Randy, Chad (Lauren) and Courtney (Zak); great-grandchildren, Kaleigh, Delanie, Lawson, Lincoln, Gavin, Sophie, Emma, Colton, Connor, and Wyatt, one great-great grand son, Theo. Bernice Pavlic, age 88 of Greensburg with previous residences in Jeannette and North Huntingdon peacefully passed away on Friday, October 1, 2021. She was born, December 23, 1932 in McKeesport, the youngest daughter of the late Henry and Nancy (Lynch) Wunderley. Prior to her retirement, Bernice was a bookkeeper for the Wendel Machine and Ringsdorf Corporation. She was a graduate of McKeesport High School Class of 1949 and a longtime member of the United Presbyterian Church, N. Huntingdon. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, playing bingo, gardening, baking, card games, animals, and was a great mother and companion to her daughter Barbara. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Pavlic; daughter, Linda Thomas; brothers, George and Robert Wunderley; sisters, LaVerne Bartulevicz, Laura Martin and Margaret Forsythe. She is survived by her three daughters, Barbara Pavlic of Greensburg, Marsha Deaktor and husband Scott of Shady Side , Carol Faloona and husband William of North Huntingdon; grandchildren, Emily, Anthony, Vincenza Faloona: North Huntingdon, Charles “Chase”, William "Wills" Deaktor: Pittsburgh. Delphine M. “Dell” Schaff, age 89, of West Mifflin, passed away on October 3, 2021 at Locust Grove Personal Care. Born in West Mifflin on June 8, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Philomena (Bost) Schaff. She was a retired accountant from McKamish, Inc. and a member of St. Agnes Church of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish. She is survived by her sisters, Dolores P. “Duz” Schaff of West Mifflin, with whom she resided, Donna (late Joseph) Milko of West Mifflin and Diane “Bunny” (Edward) Lanyi of Latrobe, and dear friend Fran Barron of West Mifflin. She is also survived by Nieces and Nephews and Great Nieces and Great Nephews. There will be no visitation. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Church, West Mifflin. Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery. Marcia Ann (South) Klein, 61 of Wausau, WI, passed away to be with the Lord on September 27, 2021 in Wausau, WI. Marcia was born in McKeesport, PA to W. James and Nancy South on November 22, 1959. She was a 1981 graduate from Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, PA with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics. She worked as a Bank Examiner for The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) for 15 years, and then worked in the family business, H. B. South Printing, for 5 years. For the remaining 20 years, she worked with her husband at Klein Scuba, managing all accounting, travel and trip planning, along with daily business operations. She was a member and a Deaconess of Park Baptist Church in McKeesport, PA. She was actively involved with the ministries at Bethany Baptist Church. She also enjoyed Bible Study and small group activities. Marcia loved to travel all over the world. Her adventures included para-gliding in the Alps and fly boarding in Mexico. Her interest in scuba-diving led to the meeting of her future husband, Phil. Before her involvement with Klein Scuba, she was a member of the Women’s Scuba Group. Marcia loved animals and had many dogs and one special cat throughout her life. Marcia is preceded in death by her father W. James South.

Raymond "Slats" E. Weigand, Jr

Raymond "Slats" E. Weigand, Jr., age 100, of Liberty Borough, died October 4, 2021, at UPMC McKeesport Hospital.  Born August 25, 1921, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Raymond E. Weigand, Sr. and Anne (Weller) Weigand and husband of the late Christine Weigand.

Raymond was a World War II Navy Veteran and served aboard the USS Alabama, working his way through the ranks to gunner's mate second class and always looked forward to reunions with Veterans from his ship.  He was awarded the Ushakov Medal from the Russian Government due to having served during Allied missions in the Arctic Circle in the early 1940s.  Raymond worked as a Dairyman with Menzie Dairy, then Turner Dairy Farm.  He was the Boy Scout Troop 53 leader for 35 years and enjoyed all scout activities and traveling with the Scouts to Europe.  Ray was a member of Teamsters Local 205.  He loved time spent with his grandchildren and smoking cigars.

Margaret "Peggy" E. Knieriem

Margaret “Peggy” Knieriem, 77, of North Huntingdon, passed away early Monday, October 4th at Independence Court of Monroeville.  She was born, March 20, 1944, the daughter of the late Thomas and Olive Myers.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia “Pat” and brother, Thomas.  Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Paul Dale Knieriem; two children, Wendy (William) Waugh of North Huntingdon and Paul (Meghan) Knieriem of Huntington, NY; and six grandchildren, Nicholas, Danielle, Jonathan, Zachary, Paul and Patrick.  Peggy graduated from McKeesport High School in 1961 then attended nursing school at Montefiore Hospital and became an RN.  She began her life’s work as an OR nurse in McKeesport Hospital then moved to private practice where she spent the majority of her career working for Dr. Spiegel and Dr. Fulciniti in White Oak.  Peggy then moved onto manage seven physician practices for AGH.  Before finishing her career at the Central Blood Bank and Bariatric Weight Loss Center.  After retiring, she enjoyed time with family and friends at their house at Deep Creek Lake in Maryland.  Peggy also enjoyed tole painting and shared her creations with many loved ones.  She was an active member of both Norwin Christian Church of North Huntingdon and St. John’s Lutheran Church of Swanton, MD, and former member of Christ United Methodist Church, N. Huntingdon.  She was also a member of the Eastern Star.  The family would like to thank the Hagedorn-Harrison family for their love and support.

Esther Blotzer, age 97, of Munhall, formerly of Duquesne, passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021.

In her younger years, Esther was an avid spectator at all of her grandchildren’s sporting events. At 97, she was still enjoying playing cards, especially Euchre, and the game of dominoes. She was a die-hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan and never missed an episode of Sean Hannity. Her favorite pastime was shopping and she also enjoyed cooking and baking. Her homemade bread was everyone’s favorite. She also did clerical work at the Duquesne Senior Citizens Center for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Herman Kress, her husband, James Blotzer, sisters, Pearl and Edith and a brother, Bill, her sons-in-law, Charles Teichart (who lovingly dubbed her Queen Mother) and James Steiner and her granddaughter Jillann Tockstein.

Esther leaves to cherish her memory her three daughters, Joanne Steiner of West Mifflin, Joyce Blotzer of West Mifflin, Esther Teichart of Trenton, MI and a son, James (Cheri) Blotzer of Sheffield Lake, OH; grandchildren, Joyann (Joe) Drumm, James (Holly) Steiner, Jan (Greg) McNamara, Richard (Jodi) Barker, Charles (Ashley) Teichart, Joanne (Jim) Kraeuter, James (Olivia), Ryan (Alissa) and Devin Blotzer; great grandchildren, Brittany, Tony, Joyann, Samara, Alyssa, Jimmy, Shelby, Kayla, Klay, Kody, Jonathon, Jameson, Justin, Jaclyn, Madison, Zach, Jordyn, Isabella and Bennett; and great-great grandchildren, Waylon, Braden, Lexi, Camron, Braxton, Frankie, Emilio, Jayden and Cadence.
