Charles J. Nemes, Jr., age 53, of McKeesport, died October 9, 2020, at UPMC McKeesport. Born September 20, 1967, he was the son of the late Charles J. and Shirley (Dreer) Nemes, Sr.
Charles worked as an auto mechanic and loved working on cars.
Charles is survived by sister, Charlene Jefferson of McKeesport; brother, John Snyder of Altoona; many nieces and nephews.

Gladys Szymela, age 93, of McKeesport, died October 19, 2020, at Mount Vernon of Elizabeth.  She was born February 10, 1927 in Brdov, Poland to Piotra and Eleonor Czyzewska. Gladys worked at McKeesport Hospital in Housekeeping for 25 years.  She also loved to exercise and would go to the gym and walk for hours.  She is survived by children, Victor (Vickey) Szymela and Helen (the late Dr. Harry) Lanazue; grandchildren, Andrew, Lorie, Victoria, Angela, and Leslie and nine great-grandchildren.  Arrangements were entrusted to Willig Funeral Home & Crematory.  Condolences and memories may be shared at www.willigfuneralcremationservices.com.  Chris Odasso, Owner.

Bauman, age 36, of Port Vue, died at home on October 14, 2020.  Born August 16, 1984, in McKeesport, he was the son of Tom and Pam (Torbic) Bauman, and the loving husband of Samantha (Humanic) Bauman.  Matthew was a proud graduate of Penn State University, where he obtained his undergraduate degree in History Education.  After Penn State, he went on to Duquesne University, where he received his Master's Degree in Public History.

Gary W. Thir, age 68 of White Oak, died October 11, 2020, at UPMC McKeesport. Born December 10, 1951, in Wilkinsburg, he was the son of the late Walter and Marjorie (Glucs) Thir Robertson and the husband of Donna Thir.
Gary worked for UPMC Mercy in the Environmental Service Department. He enjoyed fishing in his free time.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Jaime (Matt) Horensky of Munhall and Erin Thir of White Oak; grandchildren, Tyler and Emily; siblings, Claudia (Rich) Beerbower of Export, Debby (George) Thir of New Alexandria and Danette Thir of Irwin; and step father, John Robertson.

Moonis, age 70, of White Oak, died at home on October 11, 2020.  Born October 19, 1949, in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Donald C. and Alice Mae (Polak) Burris and wife of the late Edward Moonis.  Alice worked at Baldock Health Care Center, now Transitions Health Care as a Nurse.  She loved to travel, especially on cruises.  A cruise was not complete unless it visited her favorite island in the Caribbean, Passion Island.  She loved to craft, and you could always find her creating something.

Mary Kritikos, age 96 of Versailles Boro died October 12, 2020 at Transitions Health Care. Born August 14, 1924 in Indiana Township, she was the daughter of the late Luigi and Carmella (DePaula) Santone and the wife of the late James Kritikos.

Mary worked for US Steel and Christy Park Works in her early years. She was a member of Mary Mother of God Parish. Mary was a former member of the Woman's Group Croatian Club #146 and the Friendship Club of McKeesport. She enjoyed chatting with her family and the residents in her apartment community and playing bingo. Her final wish was to tell her family how much she loved them.

Joan retired from Mt. Vernon of Elizabeth, where she was a nurse supervisor. She had a long career working into her late 70's. Joan was a graduate of the McKeesport Hospital Nursing School. She was a US Air Force veteran who served her country with pride. Joan was a member of the Port Vue United Methodist Church, FOD, and Church Woman's Club. She was an avid reader and a staunch movie buff.

John O. Collins, Jr. age 77, of West Mifflin, died September 23, 2020, at home.  Born March 28, 1943, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late John O. Collins, Sr. and Anna (Phlor) Collins and the husband of Barbara Collins.  John worked as a machinist starting out at Heppenstall  Steel and retiring from Jackson Gear Company in Etna.  He enjoyed yearly trips to Las Vegas with Barbara and watching and feeding the birds outside his home.  He was a life long Steeler fan who listened to Classic Rock and Classical music.  He leaves a legacy of taking pride in your work and always giving it your best effort.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, John and James Collins, and sister, Beverly Weimskirch.  Services will be private.  Arrangements were entrusted to Willig Funeral Home & Crematory.  Condolences and memories may be shared at www.willigfuneralcremationservices.com

Jeffrey Leon Cowoski, age 60, of Turtle Creek, died September 21, 2020, at home. Born November 11, 1959, in Greensburg, PA, he was the son of Betty (Holtzer) Powell.
Jeff (Murdock) worked at Goodwill of North Versailles in the maintenance department. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and socializing with friends.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his siblings, Patricia (Vince) Kadlubek, Thomas McNair, Vicki Schantz, Wendy Rees and Betty Jean Cooksey (Don); and many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his brother, James McNair.
