Helen Cielieska, age 97, of Dravosburg, died February 19, 2025, at The Haven Convalescent Home. Born August 13, 1927, in Clairton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Palsa) Rukavina and wife of the late John Cielieska.  Helen worked as a telephone operator at Westinghouse and Bell Telephone, where her kindness and laughter brightened the lives of her colleagues. As a member of St. Agnes Church in West Mifflin and an active participant in Riverview Community Life, she embodied the spirit of community, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a warm smile.  In her leisure time, Helen found joy in baking delicious treats, immersing herself in captivating novels, and preparing meals for her loved ones. Her home was a haven filled with love, laughter, and the sweet aroma of her culinary creations. She also enjoyed trips with family to their camp in Big Bear Lake West Virginia.

Roger A. Blake, age 81, of McKeesport, died February 18, 2025, at UPMC McKeesport Hospital.  Born December 4, 1943, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Vincent and Ruth (Mellinger) Blake.
He had an appreciation for art, with a particular fondness for museums; the Andy Warhol Museum held a special place in his heart.  His keen eye for detail also led him to explore photography and film development, activities that brought him joy and allowed him to express his creativity.

George T. Stevens, Sr., age 76, of McKeesport, died at home on February 19, 2025.  Born April 2, 1948, in Ruffs Dale, he was the son of the late Donald and Alberta (Adams) Stevens and husband of Lavinia (Ludwick) Stevens for 54 years.  
Born into a loving family, George met the love of his life, Lavinia, at the tender age of 15 at the Buena Vista skating rink, beginning a lifelong journey that showcased their unwavering bond. George's passion for music blossomed in his youth when he played in a band with his brothers, known fondly as The Stevens Brothers and The Notations.  Those early days of harmony and laughter set the stage for a life filled with rhythm.
For 32 devoted years, George served as a delivery driver for Nutrition Inc., a role that brought him joy in connecting with the community.  Outside of work, he found solace in his garden, nurturing flowers and creating a sanctuary that reflected his warmth and nurturing spirit.

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Aryana Beth Walton, a bright and beautiful soul who graced this world on November 18, 2006, at Cherry Point Marine Corps Base in Havelock, North Carolina. Aryana left us too soon on February 8, 2025, in White Oak, PA, at the tender age of 18.  Aryana was a cherished daughter, sister, cousin, niece, granddaughter, and friend whose warmth and kindness touched everyone she met. She is survived by her loving father, JJ Walton, her devoted sister, Angelina Walton, and her caring brother, Frank Johnson. She is also survived by grandparents, many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family, and friends. Her family and friends will forever hold her in their hearts, remembering her infectious laughter and generous spirit.

Joann L. Phillips, age 66, of Port Vue, passed away on February 6, 2025, at AHN Jefferson Hospital.  Born February 24, 1958, in Versailles, she was the daughter of the late Reginald and Mary (Savage) Tamblyn, and wife of James Phillips for 44 years.

Joann attended South Allegheny High School and later pursued her education further, earning her Associate's Degree from the Community College of Allegheny County.  She had a varied career, working with warmth and dedication at Integra Bank, Super Duper, and Uni-Mart in Port Vue.  Eventually, she retired from a career with the United States Postal Service, where she served the West Mifflin and Hazelwood communities with pride.

Louis John Floris, Jr., age 56, of McKeesport, died January 15, 2025, at home. Born June 20, 1968, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Louis John Floris and Louise Catherine (Conners) Floris Atkins.
Louis was a retired auto-body technician. He was a member of the Italian Brotherhood of Guffey of Irwin, Owls Club of Buena Vista, Hartford Heights VFD, and the White Oak American Legion. Louis had a passion for riding motorcycles and working on them. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, and loved animals.
Louis is survived by his son, Brandon Suncine, Sr. of Jeannette; grandchildren, Brandon, Jr. and McKenzie; brother, Michael (Sandy Martin) Floris of West Mifflin; niece, Taylor; nephew, Michael; many cousins; special friend, Ducky Wiggins; extended family and friends.

Irene C. Alvarez, age 66, of North Versailles, died on January 18, 2025. Born June 23, 1958, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Jean (Magee) Ackerman and wife of the late Domingo Alvarez.  Irene dedicated a significant part of her career to healthcare, beginning her journey as a housekeeping supervisor at Baldock Health and then at UPMC McKeesport. She later took on the role of, where her commitment and dedication shone brightly. Her work was not merely a job; it was a profound expression of her caring nature, and it troubled her deeply when illness kept her from doing what she loved.  Irene was a vibrant community member and was actively involved with the Moose Lodge in East McKeesport. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life: playing bingo, scratching off lottery tickets, and thrill-seeking trips to the casino. Her laughter echoed in the hearts of those who knew her, often accompanied by the sweet sounds of Donny Osmond's music, which she adored. Shopping for deals brought her excitement, exemplifying her spirited personality and love for life.  Irene's greatest pride and joy were her family, particularly her beloved daughter, Jodi Anderson, and her devoted mother, Jean Ackerman. She nurtured them with unconditional love and raised them with boundless affection, creating cherished memories that will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.

Mary Elizabeth Fazek, fondly called Maboo by her friends and family, age 69, of McKeesport, went to be with our Lord and Savior on January 16, 2025.  Born July 25, 1955, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Albert A. and Ruth (Bates) Fazek, and adoring wife of Matthew Shaffer.
Mary worked for U.S. Steel National Tube Works and then at Sam's Classic Grille in McKeesport.  In addition to her husband, she is survived by a loving son, Joshua Shaffer; precious granddaughter, Leilynn Shaffer; brother, Neil Fazek.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Mark Fazek.  Mary will always be remembered for the joy that she brought to our lives.

Amelia was a graduate of Strong Vincent High School in Erie, PA. She was employed for 17 years as parish secretary for St. Perpetua Church in McKeesport.
