Virginia L. “Ginny” Ives, 95, of Irwin, passed away peacefully at home, Saturday, November 15, 2025.

She was born June 21, 1930 in East McKeesport, a daughter of the late Oliver and Florence (Utt) McLaughlin and was also preceded in death by her husband Nathan A. Ives and sisters Shirley Cooper and Margaret June Smouse.

She is survived by her daughters Nancy (Joe) Fletcher and Cathy (Mike) Ziros; her granddaughters Kelli (Jason) Floder and Kayla Fletcher; her great grandchildren Ava and Bryce Floder and Bentley Callen who brought her endless joy; along with many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.

She worked 23 years as the devoted school secretary at West Hempfield Elementary School where she was known to many for her kindness, reliability and warm presence. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church, Irwin where she served as an usher and greeter for many years.

A true lover of simple joys, Ginny found peace in cutting her own grass on her John Deere tractor and cheering passionately for her Pittsburgh Steelers. She was also known for baking the most delicious pies that will forever be remembered and missed by her family. Above all, Ginny’s life was defined by her faith in God, love, loyalty, and the deep care she showed to everyone around her which her family will carry in their memory forever.

Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 18, at the William Snyder Funeral Home, 521 Main St., Irwin, where a funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.
