Mary (Pastor) Vereb, 102, of Duquesne, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 3, 2021, in Eldercrest Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Munhall. Born on March 26, 1919, in Ironwood, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Barbara (Adorjayn) Pastor. Beloved wife of the late John P. Vereb, she is survived a daughter, Barbara Vereb, three grandchildren, Jamie Bottesch (Charles Stemler), Robyn (Pamela) DeGuffroy, and James (Leslie) Bottesch, and five great grandchildren, Kasi (Stefan) Bleakney, Ethan Bottesch, Morgan Bottesch, Riley Bottesch, and Naia Bottesch, and nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Arlene Bottesch and two brothers, Frank and Michael Pastor.
Family and friends will be received from 3-8 P.M. on Friday November 12, 2021, in the William S. Skovranko Memorial Home, Inc., 828 Richford Street, Duquesne. A Blessing in the Memorial Home on Saturday, November 14, 2021 at 9:30 A.M. will be followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in Holy Name Church of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish with Rev. Daniel Sweeney as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Elias Cemetery, West Mifflin.

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Lillian Marie Irha, 90, announces her passing on October 16, 2021 in Glen Allen, Virginia. Lillian, née Yanchik, died peacefully at home, surrounded by love.
Lillian was born in Homestead, Pennsylvania on June 30, 1931. A 1949 graduate of Munhall High School, Lillian married John J. Irha of Homestead, Pennsylvania in September 1952. They had three children together: Sandra, Nancy, and Daniel.
Described by friends and family as “feisty, unfiltered, and absolutely fabulous,” Lillian was known for her hearty, bubbly giggle and her fun-loving, social personality. She always made it a point to keep in touch with family and friends, whether near or far. Lillian enjoyed dancing, bowling and cards, as well as entertaining at her lovely home. She especially loved bingo and delighted in sharing her quite-frequent winnings with her grandchildren. Lillian, a faithful Catholic, was a lifelong parishioner of Saint John the Baptist Byzantine Catholic Cathedral of Munhall, Pennsylvania.

Mary A. (Ragan) Adams, 90, a former resident of Duquesne, PA and a resident of Bethel Park, PA, led a spiritually filled and family-centered life and met the Lord on Saturday, October 16, 2021 surrounded by her children, Mary Ann (Tom) Gray, Bethel Park, PA; Bill (Nancy) Adams, Wadsworth, OH; Rev. John Adams, Pastor, Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels and St. John the Evangelist Church, Olean, NY; Mark (Linda) Adams, Louisville, OH.
Wife of the late William “Bill” Adams of Duquesne, PA. Mary and Bill were joined on earth for 65 beautiful years, now, together forever in heaven. Mary, daughter of the late John and Teresa Ragan of Duquesne was the first child American born from Slovakia. She is survived by her brothers, Dr. James (Debora) Ragan of Los Angeles, CA and Thomas (Lynne) Ragan of Duquesne and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her sisters, Theresa Chizmar and Ann Matthias and baby Helen and brothers, John, Andrew, Paul, Albert, George and infant twins Michael and Joseph.

James E. "Jim" McDermitt, 74, of Duquesne, died peacefully on Monday, October 4, 2021, in UPMC McKeesport. Born in Duquesne, January 21, 1947, he was the son of the late William Earl and Agnes (Kamacher) McDermitt. Mr. McDermitt was a self employed handi-man. Beloved husband of the late Mary Elizabeth (Yarnall) McDermitt, he is survived by a son, Stephen McDermitt, two daughters, Dana (Bill) Ferrier and Erin Jenkins, three grandchildren, Scott Jenkins Jr., Hannah Jenkins and A.J. Ferrier, and a sister, Nancy Kuchma. In addition to his parents and beloved wife, he was also preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce Bedzik and Diane Yurchinson and a grandson, Luke Jenkins.

Robert James Angel, 83, of Duquesne, entered into eternal life peacefully on Saturday, August 14, 2021, in Baldwin Health Center. Born in Pittsburgh on November 3, 1937, he was one of twelve children born to the late Nicholas John and Theresa M. (Koehler) Angel. Mr. Angel is survived by a brother and sister-in-law Regis Michael and Maureen Angel and two sisters, Catherine "Dolly" (Late John) O'Keefe and Martha "Martie" Angel, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles Francis Angel, Richard John Angel, George Angel, Thomas Angel, and William Angel, and three sisters, Rose White, Theresa "Tessy" Angel, and Margaret Menary.

Patricia A. (Rohaly) Ivan, 83, of West Mifflin, Fell Asleep in the Lord peacefully at home on Saturday, July 31, 2021. Born in Duquesne, March 27, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Michael John Rohaly and Anna (Kirshnir) Rohaly. A graduate of Duquesne High School, she was a curious lifelong learner. Mrs. Ivan was a faithful member of St. John Byzantine Catholic Cathedral, Munhall and a retired Tax Clerk for West Mifflin Boro where she worked for many years. Beloved wife of the late Michael E. Ivan, Pat enjoyed big band music, taking a turn on the dance floor, and traveling with Mike, her spouse of 51 years. She is survived by: four loving children Mary Ann Ivan, Michelle Ivan, Melissa (Richard Bowden) Ivan, and Michael Jon Ivan; three grandchildren Ahnwyn Bowden, and Ella and Cohen Ivan; three sisters Regina (Robert) Reitmyer, Margaret (late Jay) Walsh, Bernadine (Michael) Gonos; and her sister-in-law, Olga Hanko. Jane A. (Johnson) Miller, 70, of West Mifflin, died peacefully at home on Monday, July 12, 2021. Born on February 16, 1951, in Denver, Colorado, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Helen (Butler) Johnson. Mrs. Miller was a retired medical assistant and enjoyed crafting, ceramics, and painting. Beloved wife of the late Frank J. Miller, she is survived by a son, Reuben Joseph (Colleen) Miller II, a daughter, Melanie Kovalsky, a brother, James (Cynthia) Johnson, seven grand children, Vanessa, Bert IV, and Samantha Kovalsky, and Lance, Lexus, Reuben III, and Magnus Miller, and two great grandchildren, Skye and Raine Jordan. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Faith Miller.

Raymond T. Sovak, 72, of Jefferson Hills, formerly of Duquesne, fell asleep in the Lord on Sunday, July 4, 2021. Born in Pittsburgh, September 10, 1948, he was the son of the Late John N. and Bertha V. (Hudak) Sovak. Mr. Sovak was a member of SS Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Duquesne. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He is survived by a brother Eugene (Late Marsha) Sovak; two nieces, Dr. Lisa Ann Sovak, and Christine Marie Sovak; and five cousins, James R. Hudak, Francis R. Hudak, Georgeann Clymer, George E. Sovak, and Joanne (Fred) Conner. In addition to his parents he also was preceded in death by a brother John F. Sovak, and two cousins Rev. Robert A. Kohuch and Joseph M. Ruszkoski.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 in the William S. Skovranko Memorial Home, Inc., Duquesne, from 9am until a Panachida service at 11am. Mary R. (Spirnak) Sabol, 94, of West Mifflin, died peacefully on Tuesday June 22, 2021, in Dumfries, VA., at the home of her daughter, Marian. Born August 30, 1926, in Duquesne, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Balogac) Spirnak. Mary was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, Holy Trinity Church, West Mifflin. For many years Mary was involved in Parish activities working in the kitchen with everything from fish fries, and funeral repast to baking ceregi. She was the beloved wife of the late John J. Sabol, and is survived by two daughters, Marian (Michael) Gross of Virginia and Audrey (Frank) Steiner of West Mifflin, a brother, Raymond (Marie) Spirnak of Munhall and a sister, Eleanor (Late Thomas "Tim") Marcinko of Whitaker, four grandchildren, Eugene Sabol, Rachael (Bill) Fike, Caitlin Steiner (Matthew Kanczes), Bethany Steiner, and four great grandchildren, Aiden and Ashton Fike, and Laura and Caroline Kanczes; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a son, Eugene Sabol and a grandson, Jonathan Steiner.

Mrs. Otlano was a member of St. Thomas The Apostle Parish, Resurrection Church, West Mifflin. Beloved Wife of the Late John Otlano. She is survived by two sons, John Jr. and Mark , a daughter, Linda , sixteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by two daughters, Martha and Antionette , three brothers, Joseph, Michael and Raymond Boruch, and two sisters, Florence A. Boruch and Agnes Guzewicz .

Veronica Kinch, of Montgomery, Texas, formerly of West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, passed peacefully from this life to eternal rest, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, May 1. Born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Nicholas and Mary Opatick. Frank, her husband of 56 years, preceded her in death, along with four siblings: Bernard (Natalie), Eugene ‘Skip’ (Elaine), Lawrence ‘Tubby’ (Norma, surviving), Marianne (Ronald).
Veronica is survived by her children Jonathan ‘Jay’ (Becki), Timothy (Kim), and Laura Jean (Sean); seven grandchildren, Stephanie (Frank), Brittanie, Jacqueline, Jennifer (Greg), Troy (Linzie), Ryan and Darren; three great-grandchildren Blaine, Priscilla Grace, and Paizley; her helpful nephew, Wayne; many nieces and nephews, cousins, and her cat Maggie.
During her life, she built a successful career as a Sales Representative for Bell Telephone, later Verizon, and was an excellent homemaker, wife, mother, Gramsey, Great Gram, and Aunt. She attended Holy Trinity Catholic School, graduated from Duquesne High School, and was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, in Duquesne, PA., for more than 60 years. She loved animals, was passionate about her garden and yard, was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, and the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association. She was proud of her entire family and always showed an interest by keeping in touch with everyone.
