The beloved daughter of the late Ulysses and Jeanette (Parks) Oneil departed this life on  January 22, 2021, at AHN Jefferson Hospital. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James L. Lane, Sr., and grandson, Craig L Rhodes, Jr.

Barbara is survived by her son, Craig L. (Dianne Freeman) Rhodes, Sr. of West Mifflin, PA; grandson, Chaudre “Dre” Rhodes; great-grandson, Craig L. Rhodes; sister, Lenora Oneil of Pittsburgh; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Leonard “Curly” Spence, 79, of Homestead, Pennsylvania, departed this life peacefully on  Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at the VA Hospital in Aspinwall.

He was born October 11, 1941, in Clairton, Pennsylvania to the late John and Cora Strong Spence. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Janie, Petro, John, Roosevelt, Eddie, Harvey, Littleton, and  Oleter Spence-Jacobs, stepchildren, Dewayne, and Shawn.  

Curly spent most of his life working as a Machine Operator until he retired. He was a veteran, who served in the United States Army.

He leaves to mourn his loving memories, daughter, Mona (Spence) Sizemore of Penn Hills, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren, Lauren, Corey, Shawn & Robbie; two great-grandchildren, Zara  &  Zemora; sister, Reba King Booker of Queens, New York; son-in-law, Robert E. William John Henry

William John Henry, 76, was born April 18, 1944, in McKeesport, PA. The beloved son of the late John Hubert Bray, Richard J. Henry III (stepfather), and Dorothy Mae (Baker) Henry departed this life on January 17, 2021, at UPMC McKeesport. Johnny, as he was known as, retired from U.S. Steel, Irvin Works Plant where he held a variety of positions for almost 40 years.

When at all possible; you would see him pulling up to the coffee shop, with a ball cap on and driving a Cadillac. He loved his daughters, granddaughters and the Pittsburgh steelers.

He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union. Johnny is survived by his ex-wife, Dayle (Obradovich) Henry; two daughters, Michelle Elaine (Raheem) Muhammad and Denise Henry (Thomas) Barnes of McKeesport, PA; 3 grandchildren; Tommi Lynn Barnes, Mulana Anjail and Naylah Elaine Muhammad; brothers, Richard J. IV of Fort Wayne, IN, Michael (Darlene) of Elizabeth, Keith Henry of McKeesport, John and Marlowe Bray of McKeesport. Sisters, Audrey (Kenneth) Hamlin of Clairton, Sharryl (Richard) Kokoska of Port Vue, Carol Bennett, Danella, Phyllis, Loretta, Sherlyn (Lamont) Butler, Yvonne and Shelarise Bray of McKeesport. Petro Newby was born August 6, 1961, at McKeesport Hospital. He was the beloved son of the late Beatrice Boyle and Petro Spence. On January 10, 2021, Petro passed away at home. Janice obtained a Masters in Nursing, Ph.D. in Education, and Ph.D., ABD in Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh. Reverend Wilbert A Wilson, 68, was born October 23, 1952, in McKeesport, PA.  The beloved son of the late Wilbert and Ella Louise (Alred) Wilson, Sr., departed this life on  December 22, 2020, at UPMC Presbyterian, Pittsburgh, PA. He was preceded in death by his sisters Toni Opong, Rhonda Legget, and Kimberly Wilson.

Woody, as he was affectionately known, graduated from McKeesport High School and attended Chaney State University. He then enlisted into the United States Navy. Later, Woody graduated from Family Bible School, Harty Bible School, and attended The Bethlehem Baptist Church Bible Institute. He retired from the VA in Aspinwall (HJHines) where he served not only the men but was a member of the Honor Guard and a Union Steward as well.

Rev. Woody besides being the cook, gardener, and handyman that never said NO; was also an avid bowler with a high game of 279, one strike away from a perfect game. He was a devoted member of Bethlehem Baptist Church where he was ordained Reverend and became an Associate Minister. He served in the choir and loved being the Ministry Leader of the Men’s Group.

Cynthia Diane Bryant, 71, died Dec. 16, 2020. She was born to the late James & Mary E. Bryant on March 18, 1949 and was the beloved sister to William “Billy” Bryant (deceased).  She was raised and remained a much loved and adored resident of the West Mifflin (Riverview Homes Association) community. 

After graduating from West Mifflin North High School, Cynthia began her career at US Steel where she worked for a number of years.  After the closing of US Steel she devoted 30 years of service to the accounts payable department at PNC Bank, where she retired in 2015.  While maintaining her many roles, without complaint, Cynthia still found the time to double as the supervisor and seamstress for The Children of Praise Mime Ministry, a role which she immensely enjoyed.

A kind gentle soul, Devon, considered everyone a friend.  He was always willing to help someone with his physical strength.  He was an avid Steelers fan who loved sports in general.  A self-professed chef, Devon enjoyed cooking and experimenting with new recipes.  He also enjoyed life according to his own terms.  He was resourceful and reserved who loved to chuckle, even at the silliest of things.

Carnelia Garrett, 91, of Duquesne, PA departed life peacefully on Saturday December 12, 2020 at Canterbury Place, Lawrenceville, PA.

Carnelia was born August 30, 1929 in McKeesport, PA, daughter of the late Reuben, Sr and Wilmer Reid Lyerly.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Thomas Garrett, sons, Ernie Garrett (Angelic Garrett, Donna Clifford) and Rodney Garrett, brothers, Reuben Lyerly Jr., Eugene Lyerly and Manuel Lyerly.

Carnelia was raised in Clairton, PA, and attended school there.   At a young age, she was baptized at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was employed at one time for K-Mart in South Hills.

Carnelia loved doing hair and graduated from the Pittsburgh Beauty Academy and earned her Beautician License. She was very successful doing hair in her home salon.  She enjoyed spending time with family and socialized at Community Life making new friends, playing games, field trips, and the meals they prepared. Carnelia loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and on any given Sunday she was cheering for them or she would be watching CNN. She was one who never minced words, she would say exactly what was on her mind.

Edward Meador, 50, was born March 18, 1970, in McKeesport.  The beloved son of Robert (Hazel) L. Meador and Aileen (Holmes) Murray, departed this life on December 8, 2020, at UPMC McKeesport. He was preceded in death by his step-father, Stephen Murray.    

Edward Meador was a father of 4 and loved by his Fiancé, Naimah Williams. He enjoyed Friday night boat rides and whiskey bbq. He loved home-cooked meals, ribs, greens beans, and potatoes; so much so his nickname was Porkchop. He was loved by family and friends. He dedicated his Sundays to reading the bible with his fiancé and praising God.

Edward is survived by his parents, Robert (Hazel) L. Denise Hilliary, 62, died suddenly Dec. 4, 2020 at AHN Jefferson Hospital.

Denise was affectionally known as “Niecy” to her closest friends and family. She was born in McKeesport, Pa but was raised and continued to call Clairton, Pa home until she departed. Denise was educated in the Clairton education system, graduating from Clairton HS in 1975 and capped her education by graduating from the ICM School of business shortly after. Denise spent the past 43 years working for Bank of NY Mellon as an Infrastructure Operations Analyst where she was a linchpin for the team.

Denise was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She treasured her children and embraced them and everyone she held close with the love and affection that they required. She is survived by her two daughters, J’Nece (Grady) Nixon, Cierra Hilliary; Two sons, Larry (Crystina) Ferguson, Emmanuel Cottrell; 6 Grandchildren (Trentin, TaNyia, Taj, Tijair, Lexington & Lennox. Sister to Jannice, Jeffery and Jamie, as well as an Aunt to many nieces and nephews.
