Norma J. (DiGiorgio) Reza, 88, of East McKeesport, died Thursday, October 26, 2023. She was born February 19, 1935 in Elizabeth, a daughter of the late Joseph and Adeline (Cannelli) DiGiorgio and was also preceded in death by her husband Timothy Reza, her grandson Timothy Reza, and siblings Dora Jones, Carmella Ferraro, and Gennaro, Matthew, Joseph and Carl DiGiorgio. She retired at the age of 82 as the senior coordinator for Lifespan Steel Valley Senior Center. She is survived by her children Timothy Reza and Cindie Reza; her grandchildren Alexander and Nicholas Reza; also numerous nieces and nephews.

James P. Benson, 58, of North Versailles, passed away Thursday ,October 26, 2023. He was born December 29, 1964 in McKeesport, a son of Katherine (McClellan) Benson of North Versailles and the late John F. “Benny” Benson, and in addition to his father he was preceded in death by his grandparents Joe and Anna Lengyel and a cousin Jeff Benson. He was a member of Mary Mother of God Parish, formerly St. Robert Bellarmine Church, East McKeesport, and he worked as an installer for Franklin Interiors, Pittsburgh. He had a passion for motorcycle riding, was a NASCAR fan, and was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting.

She was born January 1, 1935 in Monte Sant’Angelo, Italy, a daughter of the late Nicola and Linda Di Lucente. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Anselmo “Ozzy” Contestabile, her brother Joseph (Carmella) Di Lucente and sister Maria (Gaetano) Melocchi. Nicoletta was a member of Mary Mother of God Parish formerly St. Robert Bellarmine Church, East McKeesport, and had a long career working as a seamstress. She enjoyed cooking for family, sewing, and gardening. Nicoletta was a loving grandmother who cherished her grandchildren.

Dolores Marie Uphouse Smith, 89, of Finleyville, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Jefferson Hospital. She was born in Somerset on April 11, 1934, as the only child to the late Hiron and Mae Sleasman Uphouse. She was married on March 19, 1954, to the love of her life, Paul Smith, who survives her. Dolores and Paul were baptized as one of the Jehovah’s Witnesses on August 9, 1959. They have both faithfully served their God for 64 years. Dolores was known for her amazing ability to cook and bake. She was generous to all that she knew, and she loyally supported her husband throughout their 69 years of marriage. Richard G. Proctor, 76, of Rillton died October 30, 2023 at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital. He was born April 19, 1947 in Pittsburgh, Pa., a son of the late Mason and Elsie Bowers Proctor. Prior to his retirement Rich was the bank manager for First National Bank of Herminie. He was a member of Circleville Methodist Church where he served as the treasurer. He was a graduate of Norwin High School and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Rich served in the United States Air Force. He is survived by his beloved wife Carol Weitzel Proctor; son, Jason and his wife, Julie; daughter, Kelli Maryanski; 5 grandchildren, Kiera, Kaetlyn, Austin, Tyler, Kathryn; nephews, Tim, Adam, Cole, Jake, Noah and Bryce; nieces, Kristin, Maureen, Christina, Abbey and  Anna. Friends will be received at the James W. Hugh B. “Huey” Scurfield, age 93 of Clairton, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023 in Grandview Estates, Elizabeth Twp..  Born October 31, 1929 in Clairton, he was a son of the late Elmer B. and Margaret (Donnelly) Scurfield.  Huey was the last of the Scurfield brothers, being also preceded in death by his brothers Elmer “Bus,” Thomas “Top,” James, and Joseph Scurfield.  Huey was a retired electrician for US Steel, Clairton Works and also worked at the former Cross Ford, Clairton.  He was a parishioner of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish – St. Clare of Assisi Church, Clairton.  Huey is survived by his wife of 73 years, Ruth Mae (Curry) Scurfield; his daughters Carol A. (the late Lemuel) Goodrum and Deborah L. (Jay) Jerome, both of Elizabeth; his four grandchildren: Tanya Mock, Kristie (Ryan) Goodrum-Powell, Jennifer (Adam) Cavalier, and Justin (Alexandra) Jerone; his eight great-grandchildren: Kaylee, Logan, Jaiden, Morgan, Domenic, Amelia, Jessie, and Josephina; and also nieces and nephews.

He is also preceded in death by his “favorite” mother-in-law (Marie L. Rosalie M. Oriss, 88 formerly of North Huntingdon, passed away peacefully on Saturday October 28, 2023 at the Rehabilitation and Nursing Center at Greater Pittsburgh, in Greensburg, PA. She was born on January 11, 1935 in Coopersburg, PA to John and Mary (Pechacek) Langer. Prior to retirement, Rosalie was an elementary school teacher in Allentown and North Braddock, PA and completed her teaching career at Queen of Angels School in the Norwin School District. She was an active member of St. Agnes Parish and enjoyed crafts, sewing and gardening. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Bernie in September 2023, her brother John Langer and her brother-in-law James Oriss. She is survived by her son Timothy B. Oriss and his wife Carol, daughter Karen Oravitz and her husband Ken, grandchildren Nicholas (Sabrina) and Andrew Oriss, Natalie and Bradley Oravitz, sister-in-laws Phyllis Langer and Lois Oriss, as well as several nieces and a nephew. Family and friends will be received from 2-4PM and 6-8 PM on Monday at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA 15642. Thomas Louis Russ, age 65, of Irwin, died on Friday October 27, 2023 after an almost 3 year battle with cancer. He was born in McKeesport on March 30, 1958 and is the son of the late Thomas Frank and Louise Mogus Russ. Thomas worked as a mill worker before retiring as a pipe fitter for People’s Gas in 2014. In his retirement, Thomas loved to spend time in his garage, where he could fix any lawnmower, and do all sorts of woodworking. He had a real creative eye for refurbishing and restoring furniture and building fixtures. Outside of his garage, Thomas loved to fish and boat, and especially to garden, growing cucumbers, peppers, eggplants, and most numerously tomatoes. Thomas was the gardener of the neighborhood and provided for all his neighbors. He was a former member of the General Smedley D. Butler Post 701 White Oak American Legion.

Gregory.  Marcella is survived by her children Candace (Nick) Tour, with whom she resided, and J. Robert (Christine) Trumpe of Lincoln Borough; her seven grandchildren: Nicholas, Jack, and Christopher (Ashley) Trumpe, Anthony (Shanon) Tour, Nicole (Dean) Maksin, and Jayson and Brandon Rollason; her seven great-grandchildren: Destenzo Trumpe, Abby and Sidney Tour, Dean and Blake Maksin, Nathan Lee, and Levi Rollason; sisters Sandra Long and Sharon Van Fosson also nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter Lisa Wilson and her sister Patricia (Robert) Neal.

Pastore, age 86 of Elizabeth Twp., passed away at home surrounded by his family on Wednesday, October 25, 2023.  Born February 14, 1937 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Daniel and Rose (Gentile) Pastore.  A graduate of the former California State Teachers college, Carl retired as a technician for the Clairton Municipal Authority.  He was a member of the Turkeyfoot Fish and Game Club in Confluence and was also an avid golfer, great jokester, and was known as The Family Groundskeeper.  Carl is survived by his wife Patty (Baker) Pastore; his children Kristy Pastore of Elizabeth Twp., Carl (Kathy) Pastore of San Carlos, CA, Mitchell Pastore of Raleigh, NC, and Derek (Penny) Pastore of Newport News, VA; his grandchildren Alyssa, Jennifer, Matthew, Nicholas, and his Special Light Emmett; his great-grandchildren Ava and Evan; his sister Madeline (Joe) Nestico of Clairton and Richard (the late Jackie) Pastore of South Park; and also many nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Gregory Pastore and his siblings: Anthony, Dominic, Daniel, and Ruth Pastore.

(Kopp) Turner who passed away February 24, 2015. He is survived by his daughter, Amy (Ron) Morosko of Elizabeth Twp; a son, Randy (Dana) Turner of West Mifflin; 7 grandchildren, Alex, Aden, and Ethan Morosko, and Jason, Ashley, Ryan, and Eva Turner; 4 great-grandchildren, Ellie, Bryce, Nolan, and Wyatt; two brothers, Edward A. (Melissa) Turner of Addison and Thomas (Darla) Turner of Elizabeth; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy L. Turner.
