Carol (Jancef) Rice, 71, of North Huntingdon, passed away peacefully in the loving care of her family on Thursday, November 16, 2023. Carol spent the majority of her nursing career in long-term care, loved her dogs and took great pride in her family. She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Rice; her parents, Otto and Dorothy (Schmidt) Jancef; sister Linda Horne; and step-daughter, Terri Shawn Rice. Carol will be sadly missed by her daughters, Tara Hall (Christopher) of North Huntingdon, and Amber Zahorchak (Rafael Perez Diez) of San Juan, Puerto Rico; and her step-son, Dustin Rice; cherished grandchildren, Ethan Hall and Rafael, Cecilia and Gonzalo Perez; sister, Doris Phillips; and niece Tracy Seman (Richard). Wilma R. Primorich

Wilma R. Primorich, age 87 of Jefferson Hills and formerly of South Lyon, MI, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023 in Celebration Villas of South Hills.  Born September 3, 1936 in Clairton, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Lucy (Runatz) Primorich.  Wilma retired as a job parts specialist for the Ford Motor Company after 40 years in 1999.  In her spare time, she loved to go to auctions and flea markets, listed to her Croatian radio, and go out and treat for dinner with family and friends.  She also loved her four siamese cats and will be remembered by her family as warm hearted, conversational, and always easy to make friends.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Iko, Ante, Mirko, Eneric and Emil Planich, Milan Primorac, and Albert and Nick Primorich.  Wilma is survived by her sister-in-law June Primorich of Finleyville and nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth "Betty Ann" A. Petrozza, 67, of Cranberry Township, died Nov. 15, 2023.  She is the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Muranyi) Yuhasz and beloved wife of the late Neal T. Petrozza.  She is survived by her daughter Allison L. Petrozza; son Christopher N. Albert P. Ranalli, Jr.

Albert P. Ranalli, Jr., age 96 of Clairton, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 in Jefferson Hospital.  Born December 19, 1926, he was a son of the late Albert Ranalli, Sr. and Catherine (Macioce) Ranalli.  A member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish - St. Clare of Assisi Church in Clairton and a US Army Veteran of the Korean War Era, Albert worked for over 50 years in the meatcutting department at Marraccini's Supermarket in Clairton.  He also worked at H&R Block as a tax preparer and at Carmike Theaters as a ticket agent.  In his spare time, Albert was an avid tennis player and gardner and a great believer in "common sense."  He is survived by his wife Lenore (Nesti) Ranalli; his three sons Larry (Helen) Ranalli, Donald (Christine) Ranalli, and Kenneth Ranalli; his granddaughter Nicole (Matthew) Dalton; his three great-grandchildren Logan, Lucas, and Nadia; his brothers Charles (Sue) Ranalli and Joseph Ranalli; and also nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, Albert was preceded in death by his brother Daniel Ranalli.

Paul V. Ballas

Paul V. Ballas, 76, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2023. Paul was the youngest of five children, born in his childhood home in McKeesport, PA to Michael J. and Mary M. Ballas. In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his brother Daniel M. Ballas and wife Henrietta, his brother Michael P. Ballas, and brother-in–law Charles C. McCutcheon.

He is survived by his wife Jean Nealen Ballas, brother John (Jack) V. Ballas and wife Rita, sister Mary E. McCutcheon, and sister-in-law Norma L. Ballas. Paul will be deeply missed by his nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as the Nealen family.

Paul retired from Purchase Line HS after 35 years of teaching English. Paul was known to many as a friend due to his humorous nature and prolific storytelling, punctuated by his lighthearted demeanor. Ever the cook, Paul was known for his love of grilling and entertaining his family & friends.

He enjoyed all sports, particularly baseball, in which he participated enthusiastically as a player, coach, and fan. He will be remembered as a lover of traveling, beaches, desserts, wine, and the craft beer bottles he collected.  NA ZDRAVIE!

Joanne (Petrulli) Petriske

Joanne (Petrulli) Petriske, 87, of McKeesport, PA passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at UPMC East Hospital.

Born April 5, 1936 in McKeesport, PA the daughter of late Michael and Angie (Gladowski) Petrulli. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by her brothers, Kenneth (surviving Jayne) and Anthony Petrulli.

Joanne, the most loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and aunt of son Anthony (Renee) Rosner of North Huntington PA and the adoring grandmother of Alissity, Adelynn, and Anthony. She is survived by her niece, Devonna Petrulli of McKeesport, PA; nephew, Michael Petrulli of Jacksonville, FL, numerous friends, fur grand children (Shakespeare, Scarlett, Teak, Romeo, and Juliette), and great fur niece Versace (Veve).

Upon graduation from Mckeesport High School, Joanne spent her many years in the business industry. She was the owner of Joanne's Provincial Parlor in Rainbow Shopping Center, Panini Italian Grocery Store, Cupid Vending Machines, and Kenny P's where she was the house chef. Joanne, also spent many years employed at Palmer's Pontiac Dealer in McKeesport. Alongside of these professions, she was McKeesport's infamous "Bookkeeper".

In Joanne's spare time she enjoyed cooking for others, doing crossword puzzles, reading romance paperback novels, and sitting on the front porch with her great fur niece Versace (Veve).

John E. "Spanny" Pekich

John E. “Spanny” Pekich, formerly of Wall, passed away on November 14, 2023, at the age of 87. Spanny was the beloved husband of Patricia “Isha” (Bonnar) Pekich for 53 wonderful years. He was the loving father of Christina (James) Perry and Jennifer (Brian) Urso. He is also survived by his brother, Bob (Donna) Pekich, sister-in-law, Dorothy (Bob) Romano, brother-in-law, Tom (Marybeth) Bonnar, special granddog, Emma, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and all who loved him. Spanny was preceded in passing by his parents, John and Elizabeth (Milivovich) Pekich, and infant sister, Mildred Pekich.

Spanny was a proud U.S. Army Veteran. He enjoyed golfing and playing poker. He was a hard worker who worked as a carpet installer and with Service Master until he was 80. Most of all, he was a dedicated husband and father who adored his family, especially his daughters.

Gregory Tyrone Grant

Gregory Tyrone Grant, 68, of McKeesport, was born September 2, 1955, in Hannastown, Pennsylvania of Westmoreland County. He was one of eight children to the late Harvey L. and Betty L. Adams Grant Sr.

Gregory attended school at McKeesport High School and graduated in 1973. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and received an honorable discharge in 1978. He furthered his education at Gateway Technical Institute where he received his certification as an Electrician. Gregory was a McKeesport Fire Fighter and retired in 2018.

In addition to working as a firefighter, Gregory helped a multitude of people with electrical and plumbing work. He was known in the community for being everyone's handyman. Gregory was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church in McKeesport, PA., and a member of the McKeesport Elks Club.

Sara Lee Lane, 82, of White Oak, was born November 7, 1940, in Charleston, SC. She was the beloved daughter of the late Oliver and Queen Rivers Francis.

Sara attended McKeesport High School and graduated June of 1960.  She was employed with Equibank for 37 years and spent her last season of employment as an Administrator for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Public Schools.

A member of Saint Paul A.M.E. Church Stewardess Board, Missionary Society, served as a Church Clerk, Secretary, on the Finance Committee and sang with the Ben Harris Singers.

Katherine Louise Christian-Adams, 83, affectionately known as Sissy, of McKeesport, was born October 16, 1940, in McKeesport, PA. She was the beloved daughter of the late James and Gladys (Shern) Christian.

Katherine graduated in 1959 from McKeesport Senior High School. She attended Community College of Allegheny County and received her associate degree in nursing. She retired after 25 plus from John Kane Regional Center in McKeesport.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of McKeesport for 55 years where she served on several boards and committees.

John H. “Jack” Wolf

ohn H. “Jack” Wolf, 86, of Monroeville, formerly of Wilkinsburg and Penn Hills, passed away on Saturday October 28, 2023. He was born December 2, 1936 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late John H. Wolf Sr. and Dorothy Mae (Ogg) Wolf. Jack was a graduate of Penn Hills High School, where he was the marching band drum major.

After high school he attended Brown University, on scholarship, to study Aeronautical Engineering. He Then finished his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Institute of Technology (now CMU), where he continued support of his Alma Mater, CMU, through lifelong giving as a Member of the Order of May.

Jack both began and retired from his career as a mechanical engineer at Bacharach Instrument Co. (recently acquired by MSA) where he designed combustible gas detection and monitoring devices that were used worldwide. His faith was very important to him. He was a member of the Wilkinsburg Baptist Church and later, with his wife Carol, joined Linway United Presbyterian Church, North Versailles, where he sang in the choir and served as a member of the church’s Session.

Jack was an avid bowler in his younger years and was a life-long music-lover. He appreciated several music genres including jazz, big band/swing, classic country, hymns, and musicals. Jack always kept up with current events, finance and politics by reading the Wall Street Journal daily. He was a passionate investor and passed that enthusiasm along to his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, providing them books and articles, along with sharing his insights on investing. Jack spent hours creating plans and researching topics on his computer. He also enjoyed good food, watching the Steelers, spending time with family, and taking trips with his wife, Carol.

Ruth Carol Wolf

Ruth Carol Wolf, 86, of Monroeville, formerly of North Versailles, passed away peacefully at home on Friday October 27, 2023, surrounded by family. She was born June 1, 1937 in Johnstown, a daughter of the late Frank P. Schomaker and Ruth S. (Stanley) Schomaker, and was preceded in death by her sister Martha “Mardi” Hoofnagle.

Carol was a graduate of East McKeesport High School and attended Slippery Rock State College (now SRU). She worked briefly at Bell Telephone in the early 1960’s and spent several years volunteering with the Girl Scouts of SWPA. Carol was a registered Girl Scout for 35 years. She began as a Troop Leader and ascended through the ranks to serve two terms as First Vice President of the Girl Scouts of SWPA Council.

Carol’s faith was very important to her. She grew up in, and later rejoined Linway United Presbyterian Church, North Versailles, after Wilkinsburg Baptist Church – the church she joined upon marrying her beloved husband, John H. Wolf, closed in the early 2000s. Carol’s most cherished moments were spent with her family. She really enjoyed good cappuccino, shopping with her daughters, dining out with and attending events with her friends. Her most cherished times were spent vacationing with her husband on Martha’s Vineyard, Nags Head, and Amelia Island.

June Guckert, 95, of North Huntingdon, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at her home.  She was born June 9, 1928 in Wilmerding, to the late Fred G. and Mildred Thompson.  June had a sweet soul and always had a smile on her face and deeply loved her family.  She was a member of the First Methodist Church and she enjoyed singing, playing cards, reading, and watching her favorite television shows Rifleman and Andy Griffith.  June also enjoyed listening to Elvis songs and even attended one of his concerts.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mae Myers; and brothers, Fred G., Robert J. James D. and Eugene Thompson.  She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Nauman; granddaughter, Melissa; son, Jack (Anita); grandson, Josh; sister, Mildred Koester; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday at the James W. Jeremy M. Little, age 45, of Elizabeth, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at West Penn Hospital. He was a parts manager for more than 10 years at the former Angel’s Cycles in Rostraver Twp. He loved riding dirt bikes and quads in his earlier years, and enjoyed working on motorcycles. Born September 27, 1978 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Reginald Little Jr. and the late Valerie (Urban) Little. He is survived by his maternal grandmother, Twilia Urban of Elizabeth; brother, Eric J. (Kim) Little of Forward Twp.; nephews, Kameron and Laine Little; aunt, Cheryl (Dave) Thomas of Apollo; uncle, Sean Urban of Michigan; also, cousins. No visitation or services are planned.
