Charlie K. Dale, age 59, of Elizabeth, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at home. He was a U.S. Army veteran and loved music, fishing and building cast metal cars. Born February 10, 1960 in McKeesport, he was a son of Barbara (Taylor) Dale Jenkins and the late Kenneth James Dale. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Diana A. (Boyd) Dale; daughter, Casey (Rick) Snyder of Duquesne; son, Matthew (Courtney) Medved of Port Vue; seven grandchildren, Nathan, Madi, Landen, Delaney, Alexa, Elijah and Terry; sister, Cathi (Marty) Mayernik of Lincoln Borough; step-daughter, Carlene Kellar-Hospodar of Port Vue; step-sons, Terry Allen Kellar, II of San Diego, CA and Philip (Kim) Kellar of Elizabeth; also nieces and nephews. Sandra L. "Patty" (Crum) Daerr, age 73, of Finleyville, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at home. She was a member of St. Isaac Jogues Church in Elrama and a former cafeteria worker at Thomas Jefferson High School. Born August 15, 1946 in West Elizabeth, she was a daughter of the late Bert and Olive Crum. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Raymond E. Daerr; daughters, Cindy (David) Smith of Arlington, TX and Malinda (Chris) Werner of West Elizabeth; son, Eric (Tina) Daerr of Russell; also, seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, Elizabeth on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Charles A. Flowers, age 79, of Elizabeth, passed away on Friday, November 1, 2019 at home. He was a retired steelworker at U.S. Steel Clairton Works. Born January 24, 1940 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Andrew and Helen (Lang) Flowers. He is survived by his daughters, Joyce (Mike) Pilyih of Pittsburgh and Ginger (Bob) Burgess of Fremont OH; step-daughters, Charmaine (Leroy) Davis, Cheryl Huschak and Patricia Howard; step-sons, Richard, James and Dennis Cupp; also, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Joseph F. Nesteruk, age 94, of Liberty Borough, died October 31, 2019, at UPMC Mercy. Born November 24, 1924, in Library, PA, he was the son of the late Mark and Mary (Urbanski) Nesteruk and the husband of the late Helen L. Nesteruk for over 61 years.
Joseph retired from Luti Sign Co., where he was a painter and commercial artist. He was a US Navy veteran, serving during WWII. Joseph was a member of St. Mark Parish of Liberty Borough.
He enjoyed old movies, Pittsburgh Steelers, and he always had a sweet tooth. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Audley and Ellabell (Buzzard) Miller.  Sally was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Jeannette, and enjoyed crafting, baking and gardening.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Burk and daughter, Nancy Burk.  She is survived by her son, Robert Burk and his wife, Laura; daughter, Janet Norton and her husband, David; three grandchildren, Megan (JW) Lattimer, Katie (Cody) Frick; Jennifer Norton; and one great-granddaughter, Abigail Lattimer.  Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the James W. Luke worked as a millwright for Edgar Thomson Works in Braddock where he was a member of the steel workers union, and also more recently as a drywall finisher. He was an avid hunter and loved hunting with his sons and was also involved with Charleroi Midget Football League with his son, Ethan.

Dr. Robert E. Beranek

Dr. Robert E. Beranek, 88, of North Huntingdon Township, died on October 31, 2019.  He was born June 3, 1931 in the village of Central, East Huntingdon Township, a son of the late Charles and Anna Beranek.  Dr. Beranek obtained a Bachelor's Degree with high honors from St. Vincent College in 1953.  He was a veteran, having served twenty seven months in the US Army between 1953 and 1955.  Following military service, he earned a Master's Degree in Political Science from Fordham University and a Ph.D in Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh.  Dr. Beranek taught in the Department of Political Science at Duquesne University for 35 years.  While teaching a wide array of courses, his primary interests lie with the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe.  When teaching Eastern Europe, Dr. Beranek placed special emphasis on the two countries from where his grandparents had originated, namely the Czech Republic and Slovakia.  Widely acclaimed as an excellent lecturer, he received a Student Government Award for Distinguished Teaching and the Presidential Award for Excellence in Teaching.  He retired as a Professor Emeritus of Political Science.  Dr. Beranek was a member of the American Political Science Association and the Pennsylvania Political Science Association.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Beranek, and a sister, Elsie Hapchuk.  He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty (Miller) Beranek of North Huntingdon; two sons, Robert A. Beranek and his wife, Pamela, of North Huntingdon; David E. Beranek and his wife, Tina, of Virginia; and a daughter, Lynn T. Vita and her husband, Charles, of North Huntingdon; six grandchildren, Leanndra, Lindsay, Matthew, Michael, Mikayla, Jonathon; two great-grandchildren, Cayden and Layla; sister, Marian Kitta, of Mount Pleasant; and numerous nephews and nieces.  Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the James W. Elizabeth "Betty" (Vitelli) Rothbauer, age 94 of Jefferson Hills, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at Arden Courts.  Born March 26, 1925 in Blythedale, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Zelinda (Martinelli) Vitelli.  She worked as an accountant for US Steel, Clairton Works for 67 years, and was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish and its choir, a former member of Wilson Italian Club, and a member of the American Legion Daniel Keffer Post #75 Ladies Auxiliary, all of Clairton.  Betty joins her husband, the late Anthony J. Rothbauer, Sr., who passed away November 7, 2010; her son Anthony J. Rothbauer, Jr., who passed away June 4, 2014; siblings Clyde, John, and Joseph Vitelli, Rose Morock, Ida and Mary Meredith, Violet Salesi, Zelinda "Lena" Arilotta, and Florence, Frank, and Anthony Vitelli.   She survived by her nieces and nephews.

John was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and prior to his retirement, was a systems administrator for Rexam, Inc. John enjoyed going to the Steeler games for many years, bowling with the American Legion League, golfing, fishing and especially attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. Milan Samudosky, 87, of West Mifflin, fell asleep in the Lord on Tuesday, October 29, 2019, in Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Born in Czechoslovakia, March 16, 1932, he was the son of the late Michael and Anna (Vasko) Samudovsky. Mr. Samudosky was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Duquesne; a retired equipment operator of the former Continental Can Corporation, West Mifflin; and a proud U. S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. An Avid fisherman, Mr. Samudosky also ran a Fishing Charter on Lake Erie. He is survived by three sons, Gary Samudosky, John (Pamela) Samudosky, and Vincent Samudosky; three grandchildren, Brittany ad Corey Samudosky and Julianne Moore; three great grandchildren, Archer, Theodore and Ruby. Mr Samudosky was also preceded in death by a brother Michael Samudosky.

Ruth Ann Holmes

Ruth Ann Holmes, 79, of Lambertville, NJ, formerly of Elizabeth, passed away in her sleep on October 17, 2019. She earned a master’s degree focused on communication handicaps from the University of Pittsburgh. An avid skier, she spent a few years skiing with friends in Vail, CO after graduating.  She returned to Pennsylvania to be near her family and taught Special Education in the Amish and Mennonite communities in Lancaster County. She later moved to Princeton, NJ where she met Don Griffin, her husband of 29 years. Together they organized a food co-op in their home and managed the recycling program in Lambertville, NJ, her home for 44 years. Ruth Ann taught Special Education in the Trenton school system and traveled extensively in the summers. She was a talented gardener, an avid reader and loved a succession of dogs and cats.

Fera, age 91 of Clairton, passed away on Tuesday, October 29, 2019 in Lawson's Nursing Home in Jefferson Hills.  Born January 12, 1928 in Clairton, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Elizabeth (Knapp) Toth.  A member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Clairton and retired waitress at Mowry's Restaurant in Pleasant Hills, Irene was preceded in death by her husbands Harry Minjock, Jr. (who died November 14, 1964) and Nicholas Fera (who died June 21, 1983;) her daughter Barbara Ann Minjock (who died December 17, 1964;) and her brothers John, Bernard, and Thomas Toth.  She is survived by her brother Raymond (Patty) Toth of Martinsburg, WV; her nieces and nephews; and her dear friend and caregiver Paul S. Julian of Clairton.

Kathleen Nurse Bauer , 101 passed away Friday, October 25. 2019 at Transitions Health Care Center.  She was born January 7, 1918 in Cornwall, England and was a longtime resident of McKeesport.  Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents William and Lilian Nurse, husband, Louis, sons Louis Jr, James, Robert and Jeffrey, grandson Eric, daughter-in-law, Jane, sister Lillian and brother James.  She is survived by daughter in laws, Charlotte and Marjorie,  numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.  Kathleen will be remembered for her kindness and generosity by all the hearts she touched.  A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Genevieve H. Marsh, 94, of Mars, formerly of North Huntingdon, died October 29, 2019 at RoseCrest Assisted Living, Mars, Pa. She was born June 25, 1925 in Helvetia, Pa., a daughter of the late Edward and Helen (Burkowski) Malewicz. Genevieve was a florist for the former Irwin Floral. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, a longtime member of Greenridge Garden Club, Jacktown Ride & Hunt Club, and volunteered at the Greensburg Garden Center. She was an excellent seamstress and also enjoyed making crafts especially Christmas ornaments and beautiful Christmas stockings for each of her grandchildren. She was infamous for her meatloaf, potato salad, blonde brownies and red velvet cake. She loved polka music and spending time at the family camp in Chautauqua County, N.Y. sitting outside on the porch watching the birds, swatting flies and playing skat with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Merle Marsh; brothers, Stanley and Chester Malewicz; and sisters, Leona Bigney and Josephine Barr. She is survived by her son, Chet Marsh and his wife, Sheryl; daughters, Constance Allwine and her husband, Ken, Lee Burkhart and her husband, Ron "Zippy"; grandchildren, Kathy Dowdy, Ken (Eilleen) Allwine, Brett Allwine, Gary (Cayce) Hoenshel, Ashlee (James) Landreth, Jacquelyn (John) Lojek, Nichole Marsh; 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, 4 nieces dear to her heart, Darlene, Genevieve, Linda and Cheryl.
