Nita (D'Amico) Cheripka, 75, of Wilmerding died peacefully on October 8, 2022. Nita was the devoted wife of Thomas Cheripka. Loving mother of Monica (Robert) Murphy, Thomas Cheripka Jr., and Brad (Julie) Cheripka; adoring grandmother of Jeremy, John “Jake”, Delaney, Collin, Zachary and Reagan. Nita is also survived by her siblings, Donald D’Amico, Patricia Cheripka and Pamela Matviya, step siblings, Mary Ann Medvis, Rose “Tiny” Monk, James “Bull” Cheripka, Robert “Bucky” Cheripka, Edward Cheripka, Ronald Cheripka, and Mark Cheripka, numerous nieces and nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, David and Blanche Virginia (Shaffer) D’Amico, step mother, Helen (Cheripka) D’Amico, and her brother, Michael D’Amico.

She loved deeply, lived fully, and served others well. May we all strive to carry on her legacy.

Anthony M. DiVittorio, 89, of North Versailles Twp. died Wednesday October 5, 2022. Beloved son of the late Anthony and Angela DiVittorio. Loving brother of Marie (Ben) Cifone and the late Sam DiVittorio. Brother-in-law of Maggie DiVittorio. Dear uncle of Renee (Mike) Ansell, Leslie (Rick) Ethridge, Laurie (Barry) Wyckoff, Sam (Kathy) DiVittorio, and the late Mary Jo (the late Blake) Hadley. Anthony was a Professor of Music at Duquesne University for 42 years. For 18 months he was a Cryptologist in the Army stationed in Japan. Anthony traveled to New York City every August and then to Taiwan with a friend who was an opera singer for her upcoming concert series. Also survived by numerous great nieces, nephews and many loved cousins.

Friends were received at James F. Kutch Funeral Home. Interment followed with military honors at All Saints Braddock Catholic Cemetery.

Patrick S. Massung, 86, of White Oak, PA. was born March 17, 1936, in McKeesport, PA.  He was the beloved son of the late Lawrence and Sarah (Neel) Massung. Patrick departed this life on October 10, 2022, in White Oak, PA. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Ruth (Haberland) Massung and son, Edward Massung.

He was self-employed with his own Construction Company, Four Tire businesses also worked at the Copperweld in Glassport, PA, and had many other working skills. He would be known as a “Jack of all trades.”

He loved gardening, hunting, canning, his lift chair, and reading the bible, the most.

Gerard C. Driscoll, age 96, of Forward Twp., passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Excela Health Frick Hospital. A veteran of the Army and Merchant Marines having served during World War II, he retired as a millwright team leader at U.S. Steel Irvin Works in West Mifflin. He was a president of the Three Rivers Chapter American Merchant Marine Veterans (AMMV), former president of the Mon Valley Chapter of Merchant Marines and White Oak American Legion. He was the owner of a hunting camp and was an avid deer hunter. He loved family events and spending time with family. Born August 7, 1926 in White Oak, he was a son of the late Charles and Ellen (Wilson) Driscoll and husband of the late Mary Rita (Gallagher) Driscoll. He is survived by daughter, Cynthia (Russell) Komlos of Elizabeth; granddaughters, Shannon (David) Fitzgibbons of West Mifflin and Ashlyn (Kyle Hunt) Preaux of Myrtle Beach, SC; great-grandchildren, Eleanor and Kyle Joseph Hunt, Lucille Caroline Hunt and Galen Fitzgibbons; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by many brothers and sisters. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue, Elizabeth on Sunday, October 16, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Constance (Connie) Sabol, 78, of North Huntingdon, PA, passed away peacefully with loving family surrounding her at Forbes Regional Hospital on October 11, 2022. Born on September 17, 1944 in McKeesport, PA, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Mary Margaret (Bower) Nuss of West Mifflin, PA. Connie is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Richard Sabol. A proud and loving mother and grandmother, she is also survived by daughter Renee (Ken) Nist; 6 grandchildren Brandon (Jessi) Nist, Tyler (Morgan) Nist, Justin (Erika) Nist, Laurel Sabol, Molly Sabol, and George G. Sabol; 2 great grandchildren Kinsley Nist and Arthur Nist; daughter-in-law Aileen Sabol; sisters Carolyn Ribarchak and Merilee Bornyas; nieces and nephews. Connie was preceded in death, only a year prior, by her beloved son, Richard Sabol Jr. who, no doubt, anxiously greeted her at the gates of heaven. Connie was also preceded in death by a brother, Gary Nuss and a sister, Christine Giggliotti. Connie had a very kind and generous spirit. She adored children and cherished her family. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her. Connie was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Duquesne.
 
Family and friends will be received from 2-8PM on Monday, October 17, 2022 in the William S. Skovranko Memorial Home, Inc., 828 Richford Street, Duquesne. James "Jim" Stephen Lukacena, 71, of Boston, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022. He was born March 26, 1951 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Michael and Margaret (Kapinus) Lukacena. Jim was a 1969 graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School and had worked for the former Merritt Construction Co., and the former US Steel National Tube works. Jim collected watches and knives and loved to watch basketball. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed working in his garden and growing pumpkins, some of which were over 100 lbs. Twice, the former McKeesport Daily News wrote articles about him and his pumpkins and referred to him as “Farmer Jim”.

She was a baker at Pleasant Village Restaurant, a cafeteria worker at Westinghouse in Large, and the main dietician at St. Clare School in Clairton. She enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners and on holidays, gardening, and canning. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Forward Twp. Volunteer Fire Co. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and retired to take Billy to speech therapy. Born April 26, 1936 in Forward Twp., she was a daughter of the late Orion and Charlotta (Goettel) Cain and wife of the late William W. Weeks. She is survived by daughters, Kristine L. Weeks of Forward Twp. and Elva W. (Bernard) Metro of Monroeville; son, David W. (Jeanette) Weeks of West Elizabeth; grandchildren, Jayson, Ian, Nicole, Bernie, Beth, Brenda, Michael, Jordan and Billy; great-granddaughter, Allison; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, John Cain, Robert Cain, Barbara Pacak and Alyce Wasserman. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Harrison, age 78, of Port Vue, formerly of McKeesport, died October 9, 2022, at UPMC McKeesport Hospital.  Born May 31, 1944, in Coulter, he was the son of the late Jim and Emmaline Harrison and husband of the late Donna (Zimmerman) Harrison.  Wilbert was a die-hard Steelers fan, and everyone knew there would be no interruptions during the game.  He loved being outdoors with family, fishing and hunting, and cherished his time with the grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Mary Catherine Bradley, 86, of North Huntingdon, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Allegheny General Hospital.  She was born August 15, 1936 in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late George E. "Casey"  and Sara (Donahue) Bradley.  Prior to her retirement, Mary Catherine was an elementary school teacher and librarian.  She was a graduate of California State University and the University of Duquesne.  She was a member of St. Agnes Parish, Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters of America and National AARP.  Mary Catherine was pursuing a hobby in acting and was a volunteer radio reader with the Radio Information Service of Pittsburgh.  She is survived by several cousins.  Friends will be received from 9 -10:30 a.m. on Friday  at the James W. David E. "Skip" Williams, Sr.

David “Skip” Eric Williams, 72, peacefully departed this life to be with Jesus at home, surrounded by his family, on October 9, 2022.  He was born in McKeesport on December 23, 1949, and grew up in Clairton, PA.  He is the son of Bertha D. Simmons Williams (Homestead, PA) and the beloved late David L. Williams.  Skip enjoyed life by spending time with his family and friends, attending the Gospel of Jesus Church which he was a member of with his wife, Diane, cheering on the Steelers, gardening, watching movies, working in his home, and engaging in lively discussions about politics with his mom.  He was a devoted husband, a committed father, a wonderful son, an incredible grandfather, a loyal friend, and a great provider for his family.
Skip graduated in 1967 from Clairton High School, where he played football and met lifelong friends.  He had an unmatched work ethic reflected in the 48 years he worked at US Steel Clairton works.  He later joined the U.S. Marine Corps., where he was an Investigator, received the National Defense Service Medal and Rifle Marksman Badge.  He took great pride in his service, and that training was seen in his determination, strength, grit, and never give up attitude.  Skip was a fighter with faith who endured the race.

Joseph M. Lugares

Joseph M. Lugares, age 89 of Versailles Boro, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at UPMC McKeesport.  Born March 8, 1933 in McKeesport, he was the son of Joseph and Mary (Brtovic) Lugares.  Joseph was a Korean War Veteran in the US Army.  He managed the employment office for U. S. Steel National and Duquesne Works, as well as a multitude of other assignments within the operation of both plants.  For over 25 years, Joe was employed with the famous Duquesne University Tamburitzans, where he acted as both tour and company manager in addition to overseeing daily business and stage operations.  He was a member and past president of the Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge #146 in Versailles Borough.  In addition to this duty, he also served as club steward during the 70's and 80's, and past president and member of the Men's Club.  In the 1970's and early 80's, Joe was a member of Versailles Borough Council, serving his community in various capacities.
