Fiorina Tabacco, 92, of White Oak, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at Transitions Healthcare in North Huntingdon. Born April 2, 1929 in the village of Rocca Pia, Abruzzo region, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Angela Ciotti DiSanto and Pietro DiSanto. For 60 years until his death in 2007, she was the loving wife of the late Vittorio Tabacco. She was also preceded in death by her sister Giuseppina DiSanto and brother Silvio DiSanto. She is survived by her daughter Adeline (Jeffrey) Weissert, grandson Michael Macedonia, great-granddaughter Daphne Macedonia, sister Lucia Berarducci, and several nieces and nephews.

Eugene J. “Pookey” Hall, Sr., 86, peacefully passed away Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Mon Valley Care Center, Monongahela.  He was born on June 1, 1935 in Monessen and was the son of the late Oliver and Concepta Maria “Lena” (Fiorill) Hall.  He was preceded in death by his wife: Marlene Denise Hall; 3 children: Eugene Hall, Jr., Cindy Hall, and Jeffrey Hall; as well as 2 grandchildren: Elizabeth and Mary Koontz.

Eugene grew up in Monessen, where he regularly attended St. Leonard’s Catholic Church and served as an altar boy. Eugene was a standout basketball player at Monessen High School, where he scored the first basket in the new gym at the time.  He was a US Army Veteran (1954-1956), worked at the Page Division of American Chain and Cable, retired from Corning Glass Works, was a foreman for DomenAlex Inc. and later drove a taxi for Tri-County Access.  Eugene also had a great mind for numbers.

Betty Jayne (Gillingham) Thompson, age 97, of Mt. Lebanon and formerly of Elizabeth, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022 at Asbury Heights. She was a retired registered nurse at McKeesport Hospital, a graduate of McKeesport Hospital nursing class of 1945 and a member of the McKeesport Hospital Nurses Alumni. Born February 16, 1925 in Clairton, she was a daughter of the late Finley and Thelma (McIntosh) Gillingham and wife of the late James Thompson.

She is survived by her son, Dr. Jeffrey R. (Brenda) Thompson of Kemah, TX; four grandchildren, Jil (Michael) Tauch of Upper St. Clair, Nathan (Angela) Thompson of Peters Twp., Lauren and Connor Thompson, both of Kemah, TX; six great-grandchildren, Gavin, Grahm, Bennett and Eve Tauch, Jacob and Cooper Thompson; daughter-in-law, Marion Thompson of Peters Twp.; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James B. Thompson; sister, Colleen Ruffing; and brother, George Gillingham.

He was a retired carpenter, a former member of the National Guard, and enjoyed fishing, especially at Canonsburg Lake, hunting, and going to flea markets. Virgona, age 88 of Clairton, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2022 in Jefferson Hospital.  Born December 24, 1933 in Clairton, he was a son of Domenic and Rose (Fazio) Virgona.  A member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish - St. Clare of Assisi Church in Clairton and a retired electrician for Picco/Hercules/Eastman in West Elizabeth, Domenic was the former Democratic Mayor of Clairton.  He also served as a councilman prior to that and as a board member and officer for the Clairton Recreation Authority.  He was also a member of both the Sons of Columbus - Santa Maria Council #3 and the American Legion Daniel Keffer Post #75, both of Clairton.  In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and gardening.  In addition to his parents, Domenic was preceded in death by his wife Joan A. (Phillips) Virgona, who passed away May 15, 2019, his sister Carmella Bartolomeo Pholar, and his brothers Anthony Virgona and Angelo Vergona.  He is survived by his children Kim (William) Nickolich, Debra (David P.) Maksin, Beverly Virgona, and Domenic J. (Vanessa) Virgona, all of Clairton; his grandchildren Laura (fiance' Brandon Pavlik) Nickolich, Domenic J. Virgona, David S. (Allison) Maksin, and Heath Maksin; his great-grandchildren Liam Mizak and Layla Pavlik; his adopted great-grandchildren Antwynette Virgona and Andrew and Anthony T. Satterfield; his sister Angela (the late Richard) DeNardo of Forest Hills; and also nieces and nephews.

Michael P. Lyons, 42, of New Stanton, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2022 at his home. He was born June 22, 1979 in Greensburg, a son of Martin and Susan (Morrison) Lyons. Michael graduated from Norwin Sr. High School in 1998 and was manager of BFS Convenience Store in New Stanton. He adored his nieces and nephews and was known for his sense of humor and infectious laughter. Mike enjoyed spending time with friends and family and had a great love for animals. He is survived by his siblings, Beth (Brett) Lyons-Sternburger, Marty (Stephanie) Lyons and Trisha (Logan) Caswell; fiancee, Claudia Bickerton; nephews and nieces, Zack, Shannon, Paige, Molly, Logan, Delaney and Jillian. Diana da Silva Kacso, age 68, of Brooklyn, New York, died peacefully in her sleep on
March 1, 2022, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with her husband and sons at her bedside,
after undergoing treatment for advanced cancer over the previous 18 months with her
usual indomitable courage, optimism, and irrepressible spirit.
Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1953, Diana began studying piano at age seven in her
hometown. At the age of 15, she made her orchestral debut with the Brazilian
Symphony. In 1971, she graduated from the Brazilian Conservatory of Music in C. P. de
Mello’s and Elzira Amabile’s piano classes. Between 1972 and 1975, she studied at the
Juilliard School of Music in New York City as a scholarship student of Sascha
Gorodnitzki.
Diana performed in concerts across South America, Europe, Israel, and the United
States, including Carnegie Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Royal Festival Hall, and
Concertgebouw, and recorded for radio and television, including appearances on WNET
and WQXR. Deutsche Grammophon recorded her live concert in Munich in 1980. She
performed duos, trios, and chamber music with many beloved colleagues, including
Nancy Green and Jennifer Devore, cellists, and the late Rosemary Glyde, violist.
She won top awards at several international competitions, including 3rd Prize at the
International Piano Competition in Rio de Janeiro (1973), 6th Prize at the 9th
International Frederic Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw (1975), 1st Prize at the
Teresa Carreño International Latin American Piano Competition, Caracas (1976), 2nd
Prize at the Artur Rubinstein Competition in Tel Aviv (1977), 2nd Prize at the
International Piano Competition in Leeds (1978), 1st prize at the International Piano
Competition in Viña del Mar (1978), and 2nd Prize at the Gina Bachauer International
Piano Competition, Salt Lake City, Utah (1982).
Diana moved to Brooklyn, New York, in 1985 with her husband, Christopher Panny, an
attorney whom she originally met at Juilliard when he was a music student there. In the
early 1990s, Diana curtailed her professional activities after her beloved sons, Gabriel
and Benjamin, were born, to devote her time and energy to them.
She returned to her native Brazil several times between 2006 and 2008 to give recitals
and masterclasses, which were enthusiastically received, and to reconnect with friends
and colleagues.

Naomi D. (King) Rosche, 86 of Elizabeth, passed away on Thursday, March 3rd, 2022, at her home. She was born in Lincoln Borough on April 27, 1935, to the late Francis and Helen (Gumbert) King. Naomi was the loving wife of 67 years to Ronald A. Rosche. She is survived by her husband Ronald as well as her daughter Mary Elizabeth (Ray) Hoffman and son Christopher M. Rosche. Further survivors include grandsons Mathew and David Hoffman. Naomi was preceded in death by her parents as well as brothers Thomas and Robert King. She was a member of the International Association of Rebekah Assemblies as well as the Elizabeth United Methodist Church.  She also spent 10 years on the South Allegheny school board, spending 8 of those years as president of the board. She loved animals, especially horses and schnauzers. Arrangements have been entrusted to S.M. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 432 N. 6th St, Clairton, PA 15025. Inurnment will occur privately at a later date. Householder, 83, of Apollo, formerly of Irwin, passed away Thursday, March 3, 2022 at West Haven Nursing Home, Apollo, PA.  He was born February 7, 1939 in Greensburg, son of the late Samuel and Jessie (Keeling) Householder.  Prior to his retirement, George was a truck driver for ATL Truck Lines and retired from BOC Gas.  He was a former member of Teamsters Local 30.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Davey Jones, and grandson, Billy Teck.  He is survived by his son, George (Kelly) Householder Jr.; daughters, Brenda Nemec and Dianna Householder; brother, Samuel G. Householder; grandchildren, Justin, Kyle and Kevin.  Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Monday at the James W. Dorothy Ruth (White) Cartwright, 92 years old, passed away on Ash Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Redstone Highlands, Greensburg, PA. She was born June 25, 1929 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Dr. Howard E. White and Ruth (Gloss) White. She was a 1947 graduate of McKeesport High School. She graduated from Robert Morris Business College in 1948 before graduating from McKeesport Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. She moved to White Oak in 1992 and retired from McKeesport Hospital as an RN in 1994. In 2015 she moved to Redstone Highlands North Huntingdon. She was a lifelong member of Beulah Park Methodist Church and also attended First Evangelical Free Church. Dorothy never retired from taking care of people. Even after her retirement from the hospital, she continued to care for those around her - neighbors, family and friends. In earlier years after retiring, she enjoyed taking short bus trips with friends.

Bilan, age 97 of Summerville and formerly of Jefferson Hills, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2022 in Jefferson Manor Health Center, Brookville.  Born November 6, 1924 in Large, she was a daughter of the late Jovo and Anna (Pekella) Raduykovich.  A retired Unit Secretary for the South Hills Health System and a custodian for the West Jefferson Hills School District, Dorothy was a member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish - St. Clare of Assisi Church, the CFU Lodge #248 of Clairton, and the AARP Wilson Chapter #1612.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Sylvester Bilan, who passed away in 1979, and her son Richard Bilan, who passed away in 1976.  Dorothy is survived by her son David (Robin) Bilan of Summerville, grandsons Victor (Jennifer) and Anthony (Rachael) Bilan, her two great grandchildren Lydia and David, and her niece Caren  (John) Pacerucha.
