Christopher Lee Whittington, age 29, of Clairton, formerly of Elizabeth, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022. He was a truck driver for Shred-It in North Versailles and has worked at GetGo for 10 years. A 2011 graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School, he was a member of many bowling leagues at AMF in Rostraver Twp. and a diehard Pirates and Steelers fan. Born September 23, 1992 in McKeesport, he was a son of Roger F. Whittington of Front Royal, VA and the late Kathryn “Kitty” (Jewell) Whittington. He is survived by his brothers, Tim (Lindsey) Whittington of Forward Twp. and Matt (Maranda) Whittington of Belle Vernon; his better half, Keirria Rose; nieces and nephews, Austin, Abby, Raelynn, Hallie and Hadley; dogs, Zaria and JuJu; also survived and loved by aunts, uncles and cousins. Patyn Monroe Wilson

Patyn Monroe Wilson, age 5, of McKeesport, went to be with the Lord on May 12, 2022.  Born December 18, 2016, in Pittsburgh, she was the loving daughter of James Wilson and Misty Brown.  Patyn loved to sing and dance, especially to SpongeBob SquarePants.  Her favorite color was purple, and she had a vast collection of unicorns and rainbows.  Paytn aspired to be a Superhero when she grew up and affectionately referred to her mom and dad as "Super Mommy and Super Daddy" because they were her heros'.  In addition to her parents, Patyn is survived by grandparents, Felicia Wilson, Bobbie Jo Lamark, and Vincent Brown, Sr.; siblings, Dailan Smith, Jr., Zy'Onnah Smith, and Aria Wilson; uncles, Vance Brown, Robert Demery, Jesse Thorton, and Vincent Brown, Jr.; aunts, Shayla Brown, Miracle Brown, and Teonna Demery.  She is also survived by many great-uncles, great-aunts, and cousins.  Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday from noon until the time of the funeral service at 2 p.m.  Condolences and memories may be shared at www.willigfuneralcremationservices.com.  Charles Danforth, Supervisor.

 


James A. Duncan Jr

James A. Duncan Jr., 79, of North Huntingdon, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital.  He was born June 7, 1942 in Mckeesport,  a son of the late James A. and Eleanor F. (Steele) Duncan. Jim was a member of The Church in Sutersville. He was a strong man of faith and had a deep passion for playing his guitar in the church choir. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed both hunting and fishing.  Jim was a self employed plasterer for Duncan Brothers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James, his brother Robert Duncan, his sister, Donna Hoder .He is survived by his wife, Gerry Noah Duncan, three daughters, Patty Barrett (Harold), Sharon Diable (David),  and Bonnie Bartos, one brother, Conrad Duncan (Lisa) , three grandchildren, Rebecca Schapira, Rachelle Barrett, Bryan Bartos, two great grandchildren, Hailey and Emily. A memorial service will be held Sunday at 1:00 P.M. at The Church in Sutersville with Pastor Frank Rocco officiating. Harold O. West, 92, of Duquesne, died May 10, 2022.  He is the son of the late Oscar and Hilda (Winkler) West and beloved husband of Rhoda (Gavlik) West.  He is survived by his daughter Joy (the late David) Chickering son Harold (Anne) West, and daughter Jill (Edward) Rust; grandchildren Deborah (Ray) Townsend, David (Anila) Chickering, Danielle (Adam) Fornek, Jeremy Rust, Mandy (Eddy) Smith, and Michael West; great grandchildren Cole, Jayden, Quinn, Caylah, and Ezra; brothers Richard (the late Anna Mae) West and Kenneth (the late Beverly) West, and sister Nancy (Joe) Wilson.  Harold was a retired Pharmacist and after his pharmacy career worked as an insurance agent for Primerica.  He is a member of the First Evangelical Free Church in McKeesport; graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy and served in the US Air Force.  Funeral arrangements by Teichart-Gracan Funeral Home, Duquesne.  A private interment will take place at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies in Bridgeville, PA.

 


Donald Jay "Donnie" Krimm

Donald Jay "Donnie" Krimm, 68, of "Level Green" passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. He was born September 4, 1953 in McKeesport and was the son of the late George Edward Krimm Sr., and the late Barbara L. (Miller) Krimm. Donnie graduated from McKeesport Vocational School in 1971. He worked for Port Authority starting out as a mechanic, leading into a supervisor role and eventually becoming the Fleet Manager. After retirement, Donnie was a Proprietor of Tube City Restorations where he was licensed to do state inspections and emissions. He was an ASE Certified Mechanic and just enjoyed spending all of his free time in the garage. He was a long time member of Faith Lutheran Church, a member of the Antique Automobiles of America, and was also a member of the Masonic Polaris Lodge. He took pride in volunteering for PITT in the Orthopedic Program, working with students for physical therapy, creating and fitting their orthotics.

his is Barbara Anne Taylor Dale Jenkins speaking, age 78, of Lincoln, formerly of Elizabeth. I went to be with my mom and grandma on Tuesday, May 17, 2022. I so enjoyed talking to my high school classmates on good old Facebook. Thank heavens for that. Kept me sane (debatable) these last years. Charles Kenneth Dale and Catherine Renee Jenkins Mayernik are my finest achievements. I love my kids to the moon and stars and back. I enjoyed being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. I was born July 23, 1943 in McKeesport to the late Charles F. and Ailleen S. (Simpson) Taylor. I am survived by my daughter, Cathi (Marty) Mayernik of Lincoln Borough; grandchildren, Jonathan Mayernik, Carissa Mayernik, Casey Jo Dale and Matt Medved; great-grandchildren, Nathan Dale, and Mady and Landen Medved; special friends; also, nieces and nephews. My son, Charlie K. Dale, died October 31, 2019. I have no desire to have a viewing or to put my children through any more misery. Remember laughing together and better times. If I haven’t seen you in the last six months, then you’re not missing anything nor was I missing you. You can make memorial contributions to a charity of your choice. Edward J. Lucot, age 87 of Glassport and formerly of Clairton, passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.  Born March 19, 1935 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Edwin Lucot and Mary (Martino) Trich.  A US Navy Veteran of the Korean War and retired crane operator for US Steel - National Tube Works in McKeesport, Edward was a member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Clare of Assisi Church (the former St. Joseph's Parish) in Clairton, the WAC Club and Club 22, both of Wilson, the White Oak American Legion, the Elrama Fire Hall, and the Sons of Columbus Santa Maria Council #3 of Clairton.  Besides his parents, Edward was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Maryann M. (Mackulin) Lucot, who passed away January 10, 2015 and his siblings: Eugene, James, and Sandra Lucot.  He is survived by his children Vincent (Bobbi) Lucot of Glassport and Danielle Gogoel of Elizabeth; his grandchildren: Dominique Walker, Courtney Lucot, Eric and Samantha Gogoel, Susan Dunnett, Michael Lucas, and Amy Bodzer; several great-grandchildren; and also nieces and nephews.

 Florence D. Szpanka, 97, of Glassport formerly of West Mifflin passed peacefully to eternal life May 17, 2022 with her daughter by her side.   She was a graduate of Duquesne High School and was a full-time homemaker. She was the daughter of the late August and Mary (Kawulok) Czudek and beloved wife for 46 years of the late Stanley S. Szpanka.  Flo is survived by her daughter Geraldine (the late George) Chambers; grandsons Jeffrey S. Chambers and Mark B.Chambers; great grandchildren Natalie, Kaitlyn, Ashley, Jessica and Brian; great great grandchildren Myles and Barron; sister Dorothy Czudek; also nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by sisters Claire McCune, Emily Pry, Eloise Belback, Frances Holton, Mary Andres, Julie Young, Theresa Czudek and Helen Czudek and brothers August, Carl, Elmer and Frank Czudek.  She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish and delivered Meals on Wheels for many years.  Flo loved playing bingo and gambling at the casino and aerobic dancing.  She was known as the "tour director" on her many bus casino trips.   She was an avid gardener and her family loved her stuffed cabbage and potato salad.  Friends will be received at Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport Friday May 20 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at  8:30 am to 9:30 am and then a  funeral mass will follow at 10:00 am at Holy Name Church in Duquesne with Father Tom Lewandowski.  Interment following St. Hedwig Cemetery, West Mifflin. Sheriff, age 76 of Jefferson Hills, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 in his home surrounded by his family.  Born October 10, 1945 in West Mifflin, he was a son of the late Husain and Anna (Roscinko) Sheriff.  A US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam Era and a retired electrician for US Steel, Clairton Works, Ronald was a social member of the VFW Post # 803 and a former member of Pine Run United Methodist Church, both in Wilson.  In his spare time, he enjoyed duck pin bowling at Glassport Lanes, pitching horseshoes, and listening and dancing to doo-wop and oldies.  He will be remembered as a very handy "jack-of-all-trades" who was always willing to lend a hand; as an adventurous spirit who was always up for anything; and, most importantly, as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  Ronald is survived by his wife of 56 years Gale (Mort) Sheriff; his daughters Dawn (Darryl) Asbury of Smyrna, DE, Vanessa (Todd) Cooper of Lewes, DE, and Ronna (James) Patton of Jefferson Hills; his grandchildren Kailyn, Sarah, and Lindsey Asbury, Rebekka (Dustin) Pittman, and Taylor (Spencer) Patton; his great-grandchildren Colton, Carmen, Ava, and Charlea; his brother William Sheriff of West Mifflin; and also nieces and nephews.  Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters: Marie Magdic, Dorothy Smith, Genevieve Long, and Alice Stevenson.

Matilda A. "Tillie" Gricar age 90, of Versailles, died May 13, 2022, at home. Born May 1, 1932, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Philomena (Chiaverini) Como and the wife of the late Frank A. Gricar.
Tillie was the former co-owner of the Farmer's Fresh in McKeesport. She also worked for Bell Atlantic and was a manager at the Chestnut Inn in her earlier years. Tillie served as a Democratic Committee woman and had a love for politics. She also enjoyed cooking and baking.
Tillie is survived by her grandchildren, Charisse (Matthew) Richards and Perry Gricar; great-grandchildren, Xandria, Tabitha, Aryanna, Rilya, Matthew, and Victoria; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

James William Gray, age 74 of West Mifflin, passed away at home on Sunday, May 15, 2022 surrounded by his beloved wife and pets.  Born October 1, 1947 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Clifford and Beatrice (Faullert) Gray.  James served in the Coast Guard during the Vietnam War, where he worked in search and rescue out of Erie.  He retired as a Stationary Engineer for Point Park University and was a member of the Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish (Holy Spirit) in West Mifflin.   James is survived by his wife of 34 years Patricia A. "Honey Bunny" Lujetic; sons Jeffrey Gray of Erie, Brian (Lynn) Gray of Erie, and Kevin (Joanna) Gray of Pearland, TX; grandchildren Declan, Matthew, Michael (Janeth), and Megan Gray; first wife Marlene Gray of Erie; sister Joyce Frauens of Pittsburgh; sister-in-law Rayma Gray of Baldwin; brother-in-law David M. Lujetic of Clairton; and niece and nephew Linda and Gary Gray.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Gordon Gray.  His wife, Patricia will remember her darling husband as the sweetest, kindest, and gentlest man she had ever met. It was her honor and pleasure to be married and care for her “Beloved Stargazer” as long as she did.
