Sara J. (Miller) Haney Zezza, age 87, of Westmoreland City, formerly of Monroeville, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2023. She was born August 8, 1935 in McKeesport, a daughter of the late John and Bertha Miller. Sara was a member of the Ardara Evangelical Presbyterian Church and loved crocheting, cross stitching, reading and playing the piano and organ. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 26 years at Forbes Hospital.

She is survived by her children Denise (Edward) Wasielczyk, Frank(Christy) Haney, Charles (Elaine) Haney, Don (Barb) Haney, Bonnie Conway, Becky (Fred) Bright, Heather (Pastor Glenn) Meyers and Lynn (Jeff) Himes; daughter-in-law Susanne Haney; 32 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and sister Lillian (Edward) Seelhorst.

Louis J. Knapp, 93, of North Versailles, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023. He was born March 10, 1929 in North Braddock a son of the late Louis W. and Mary (Vercelli) Knapp. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife of 67 years Dolores J. Knapp, and brother William Knapp. Louis was a Navy veteran and a member of Plum Creek Masonic Lodge #799. He was an outdoorsman that enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at his camp. He loved his family and spending time with them was important to him. Louis is survived by his children Linda L. (Domenico) DeMarco and Dean A. Knapp; grandchildren Dina (Luigi) Tommasino, Jamie (Michael) Chiappetta, and Loren (Nick) Buchheit; great grandchildren Marco, Serena, Luca, and Lainy; his brother Donald Knapp; also nieces and nephews. He was a retired dispatcher for CSX Corporation and a member of First United Methodist Church, Irwin. He enjoyed his grandchildren and attended many of their baseball and softball games. He loved to garden and liked to fish.

Throughout her career Betsy worked in costume design at Pocono Playhouse, was a manager at JoAnn Fabric and Crafts for many years, worked as an interior design consultant for Lowes, and currently worked as a job developer for Educational Data Systems Inc., Pittsburgh.

He was a proud Navy Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict serving 6 years of active duty and 2 years reserve duty. He was a member of Praise Assembly of God Church, North Versailles, where he was an active prayer warrior. He was also a very active support person and mentor. He was a loving father, husband and grandfather and was so proud of and adored his family. He loved to read and study history and enjoyed the History and Smithsonian Channels. Joe retired from Three Rivers Pharmaceuticals, Cranberry Township and then worked for Avenna Healthcare.

John A. Farrell, 80, of Pittsburgh, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022. He was born July 30, 1942 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late John B. Jr. and Freida E. (Wilson) Farrell.

John also known as “Tony” and “Bear” was a member of Mary Mother of God Parish, and attended St. Robert Bellarmine Church. He was a proud Army veteran that served in the Vietnam Conflict. Tony taught at W.B. Ray High School, Corpus Christi, Texas, and greatly enjoyed his time there instructing the students in both Math and Science. Tony also served as president of the Corpus Christi Native American Association. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus serving as Grand Knight, was a member of the State Board of Education serving for five years. He was a life member of VFW Hilltopper Post 8430, East McKeesport, Amvets Post 60, North Braddock, American Legion Post #997, Clarion, the NRA, volunteered for the Wounded Warrior Project and was a member of Southern Poverty Law Center.

Tony was a martial artist reaching 10th degree grandmaster in Kyokkushin-Kai Karate. He was a sportsman and instructor with National Bow Hunters Education, a member of Trout Unlimited, and taught veterans fly tying at the VA Medical Center, Aspinwall, through Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing. He was an artist and especially enjoyed oil painting.

She was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Irwin where she served as a deacon, sang in the choir and participated in the Stephen Ministry to help people that experienced a loss. She worked for a number of companies during her career including G.C. Murphy Company, A&M Foodland, Truxal Trucking and RCS Laundromat. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers Robert, John “Jack”, Bernard, William and Thomas Leonard. Dolores M. Brown

Dolores M. Brown, known as Dolly by those closest to her, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 24, 2022 at the age of 89. She was a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to so many. Dolly was born in Braddock on September 22, 1932 to parents Tekla and John Kogut. She graduated from St. Thomas High School in Braddock at the impressive age of 16. To say that Dolly was a busy person is putting it mildly. She volunteered her time organizing fund raising events for schools, as well as helping out with church fairs and Christian Mothers. Dolly also was a committee person for her district, campaigning for local and state representatives. She was one person not to let the grass grow under her feet. Dolly’s biggest and proudest accomplishment was serving on the school board for East Allegheny School District from December 1995 through December 2015. She enjoyed serving her community and always acted in the best interest of the students. Dolly leaves behind many people who loved her dearly.

Patricia G. Heer, 90, of North Huntingdon, died Thursday, July 14, 2022. She was born November 2, 1931 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Mildred (Weber) Siskos and step-daughter of John Siskos. She was a former manager for Suffolk Cable, North Braddock, and the first female manager of a cable company in Pennsylvania. She was formerly active with and a lifetime member of the Swiss American Society of Pittsburgh and enjoyed travelling with her husband to Switzerland to visit family several times and traveling on the Orient Express. Many years ago she taught PAL cheerleading. She enjoyed polka dancing, was an excellent cook and baker, and was a former democratic committee woman. She left high school as a teen to support her family and later completed her high school education at Norwin High School along with her son Henry Jr., graduating in 1969. The family would like to thank the Excela Health Hospice team for their loving care of Patricia.
