Esther (Skillsky) Steimer age 98, of Houston, TX formerly of Duquesne, on October 22, 2019. She was born June 11, 1921 in Duquesne. A daughter of the late William and Nell Skillsky. Esther was much more than a homemaker, earlier in life she was the bookkeeper of her fathers coal mining business. She attended Business School and obtained a pilot license. She became the wife of Joseph Steimer; and raised nine children. A talented seamstress, she created beautifully tailored clothing for all of her girls and decorative treatments for her home. They may have complained about not having off the rack clothing, but now we know how special that was. Among other things, she taught her boys how to dance (with limited success). She was the wife of the late Joseph W. Steimer; mother of Mary Rinaldi (William Gipson) of Montgomery, TX, Linda Curcio (Dr. Lawrence Curcio) of Chapel Hill, NC, Joseph W. Steimer, Jr. (Jean Steimer) of Bellevue, NE, Kathleen Steimer of Selinsgrove, PA, Christopher P. Steimer (Kathleen Steimer) of Elizabeth Twp., PA, Paula Santoski (Jack Doane) of River Oaks, TX, Patrice Sharp (Michael Sharp) of Friendswood, TX, Eileen Rensel (Robert Rensel) of Bakersfield, CA and Martin Steimer (Eleanor Steimer) of Elizabeth Twp., PA; also survived by 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and caregivers, Dulce and Zennia. Timothy A. Sable of Erie, PA on October 18, 2019.  Born in McKeesport on March 30, 1955, he was the son of the late Orrin “Bucky” & Mary Sable. Timothy was a retired school Guidance Administrator in Rochester, NY.  He is survived by his brother Patrick (Mary Catherine) Sable of South Park; nephews Nicholas Hvasta and Michael (Amanda) Sable, niece Kelly (John) Tusai and cousin Sandra (Derek) Saldanha.  Timothy was predeceased by his sister, June Hvasta.  There is no visitation.  Burial will be private in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Mifflin, PA.

Arlene was retired from Bettis Atomic Plant where she was an administrative assistant. Barbara was retired from Western Penitentiary in the Accounts Payable Department and was a school bus driver and bus monitor. She also volunteered for the Peace Corps and spent two years in Samoa. She also enjoyed shopping and going to dinner. Wife of the late Michael Mannella; mother of Michael (Debbie) Mannella of Conway, SC, Sandra Mannella of Munhall, and the late Gary Mannella and the late James J. Mannella; also seven grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; sister of the late George Bird and the late Albert Bird; sister-in-law of Mary Mannella.

Carol W. Ginardi, 82, of North Huntingdon, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2019. She was born Feb. 17, 1937, in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late John and Clara (Hitchens) Wabrick. Carol was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Irwin. She worked for Ginardi Catering and was a homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her loving family. She was the beloved wife of 63 years to Charles A. Ginardi Sr.; mother of Joni Lee, of South Carolina, Charles A. Ginardi Jr., of Irwin, Gina L. Ginardi, of Irwin, and Anita Wallace, of South Carolina; grandmother of  Jen, Charla, Ashley, Chelsea, Ryan, Hayley and Leah; and great-grandmother of nine. She was predeceased by her brothers, John Wabrick, Kenneth Wabrick and Dewayne Wabrick. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME INC., 915 Kennedy Ave., Duquesne, 412-466-3300, William B. Elizabeth M. Betty (Ellis) Bogacik age 93 of Sharpsburg, GA., Formerly Of Duquesne, on September 27, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Elizabeth (Kaplar) Elles.

Betty was a member of Christ the Light of the World Parish in Duquesne. She played the bass Fiddle in a musical group, and wrote a song about Christ the Light of World and presented it to the parish. Betty created her own crossword puzzles and dedicated her life to God and was very generous and gave glory to God.

Her former husband, Paul J. Bogacik, preceded her in death.

She is the mother of BettyAnn Harvey of Cumberland, Md., Bonnie (David) Calhoun of Hanover, PA., JoAnn (late John III) Hailstones of Liberty Boro, Theresa “Terri” (Mark) Dull of Sharpsburgh, GA., Paul (Jodie) Bogacik of Orlando FL.

Sister of George (late Irene) Elles of Erie, PA., also 4 grandchildren and 1 late granddaughter and 3 great grandchildren.

Visitation Thursday October 10, 2019 from 9-10:30 am. Followed by a blessing service at the funeral home at 10:30 am. Followed by mass of Christian burial at St. Hedwig Church of Christ the Light of the World Parish at 11 am. Rev Terza officiating, entombment Calvary garden mausoleum.

Of Duquesne, the most loving, caring, unselfish, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, on September 18, 2019, at home, during her illness she was loved and cared for by her children and grandchildren.

She was a member of the Resurrection Church, West Mifflin.

Beloved wife of 60 years to the late Joseph J. Ondechek Sr., who died July 3, 2013.

Cherished mother of Jay (Monica) Ondechek – Blandon, PA., Lynn (Eddie Eicheldinger) Popovich, Terry (James) Marraway – Pittsburgh, Joey Ondechek Jr. – Duquesne, and Colleen Ondechek – West Mifflin.

Grandmother of – Ronald (Kristen) Faulds, Sharon (Matt) Mols, Cathlene (Bryan) Durkos, Cierra and Chassidy (Nile).

Great Grandmother of – Devan, Brielle and Brynlee.

Predeceased by brothers and sisters – George Dobransky, Edward Dobransky, Robert Dobransky, Eleanor, Maria, and Jackie Dobransky.

Also survived by nieces and nephews.

A private family mass of Christian burial will be held at Resurrection Church, West Mifflin, Rev. Nick Mastrangelo, Officiating.

Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, West Mifflin.

JOSEPH M. "MARTY" FLAHERTY of Duquesne, PA on September 16, 2019. Marty studied at St. Pius and St. Vincent seminaries and Duquesne University concentrating on Theology, Philosophy and Education. He was the son of the late John F. and Ruth (Griffin) Flaherty and was predeceased by his brothers, Rev. Thomas J. Flaherty and John T. "Jackie" Flaherty. Marty is survived by his sisters and brother, Mary Frances Flaherty of Duquesne, Anne Marie Flaherty-Brooks of Richmond, VA and Duquesne, Ruth A. Flaherty of New York, NY and Patrick J. Flaherty (Barbara) of Ligioner, PA. Marty was a kind and generous person, especially to those less fortunate. He will be missed by family and friends for his wit and sense of mischief.

Thomas S. Manns age 86, of West Mifflin, passed away on August 28, 2019 at home.  Son of the late Joseph H. & Veronica (Denne) Manns, he was the last owner of Manns Bros. Grocery in Duquesne from 1978-1995.  He was a member of Holy Angels Church in Hays and their  Social Committee.  He proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War.  He was the beloved husband of 56 years to Esther B. (Kozar) Manns; father of Thomas G. (Jennifer) Manns of West Mifflin and Matthew S. Manns of West Mifflin; Grandfather of Rebecca, Bethany & Stella Manns.  He was predeceased by brothers & sisters Lawrence (late Ann) Manns, Norbert (late Martha) Manns, Regis (late Ann) Manns, Joseph (late Emma) Manns, Howard (Late Mary Ann) Manns, Mildred Manns, Gertrude (Late Bert) Kovalsky, Susan (Late Charles “Jake”) Barnes.  Visitation will be held on Friday, August 30, 2019 from 2-4 & 6-8 at the Maloy-Schleifer Funeral Home, Inc., 915 Kennedy Ave., Duquesne, 412-466-3300.  Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon at Holy Angels Church on Saturday, August 31, 2019 followed by the presentation of Military Honors.  Burial will be held at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.

A member of St. Joseph's Church, Duquense. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, writing to people and traveling. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Nellie (Opilowski) Pobojeski, and 13 brothers and sisters.  She was retired from Equitable Gas Company after 34 years in billing.  She is survived by her loving daughter, Tracy King of Denver, CO, her grand dog Lola, and nieces and nephews. Irene M. Polakovic age 91, of West Mifflin on August 10, 2019. She was a daughter of the late Theodore “Frank” and Veronica (Lokay) Matola. Irene was a clerk typist for the government in WWII. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church, West Mifflin and Ascension of Our Lord Church in Clairton. She was a member of the former Holy Trinity Christian Mothers where she was the vice president and program chair lady. A lector for 26 years, and a girl and boy scout leader. She was a member of Chee Chee Colo Club since its inception. One of the first two women to be on the Holy Trinity School Board and a graduate of Clairton HS class of 1946. Beloved wife of the late Stephen Francis “Pucki” Polakovic; mother of Stephanie (Edward) Glazar of N. Huntingdon, Karen Polakovic of West Mifflin, Mark (Beth) Polakovic of Franklin Park, Dr. Laura (Derek) McNeill of Fombell and Melissa (Domenic) D'Andrea of Pleasant Hills; grandmother of Allison Glazar, Sarah (Dan) Klicker, Renee Polakovic, Celeste (Troy) Schaltenbrand, Mallory Polakovic, Spencer McNeill, Trevor McNeill and Lilianna D'Andrea; great-grandmother of Zack Glazar, Elijah and Audrey Klicker; predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Fairchild, Susan Knieling, Mary Fincik, John Matola, Andrew Matola, Ann Jassem, George Matola and Verne Ondick; also survived by nieces and nephews.
