Son of the late John & Cora (Cashman) Lentz Sr., he was born on January 11, 1954, in Pittsburgh. He was employed in the Maintenance Department of West Mifflin School District as a computer technician and was an avid fisherman. He was the husband of Maria “Tonie” (Simon) Lentz; father of Jason (Jennifer) Lentz of West Mifflin, Justin Lentz of West Mifflin, and Jessica Lentz of North Versailles; grandfather of Darian Carneal, Jada Lentz, Jaelyn Lentz and Jacey Lentz, Jemma Ireland; brother of Robert (Mary) Lentz, Mary Elizabeth Lentz, Donald Lentz, and Nancy (Mark) Worthy.

Stephanida E. (Spiroff) Saunders, 85, died on January 24, 2021.  She was a resident of the Palms at O’Neil in McKeesport. Born on November 1, 1935, in Duquesne, she is the daughter of the late Cristo and Marie Spiroff. She was the beloved wife for 52 years of James M. Saunders, deceased, and devoted mother of Kurt M. Saunders of Los Angeles and Craig J. Saunders of North Versailles, both of whom survive her. In addition, she is survived by sisters, Dorothy Tiffany, Pandora Churilla, Anastasia Pierce, Elvatoria Higgis, and Mildred Bacco. Her sisters Pauline Zeleznik and Gloria Fuhrer predeceased her. She was formerly employed by the William Kohut Insurance Agency in Homestead. As a longtime member of the Homeville Christian Church in West Mifflin, Stephanida served as a Bible School teacher and youth group leader for many years.

Deborah A. “Debbie” Ackerman, age 56, former resident of the Allegheny Valley School, Coraopolis, passed away on January 25, 2021, at Manor Care, Monroeville. She was born on September 12, 1964 in McKeesport, PA. Debbie participated in the Special Olympics every summer. She is survived by her mother, Joanne (Spornak) (Ackerman) Yarnall and Jay Yarnall of White Oak and her father, Dale Ackerman of North Huntingdon; sisters, Michelle (Robert, “R.C”) Painter of Manor, PA and Kimberly Chuberko of Irwin; and nephews, Christopher Fry, Michael Fry, Alex Fry and Peter Chuberko. Dennis P. “Denny” Malloy, age 68, of Gibsonia, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2021. Born in Carlisle, PA on August 22, 1952, he was the son of Norma J. (Ganczak) Malloy of Duquesne and the late Francis M. “Sonny” Malloy. He was retired from Port Authority where he was head of subway maintenance and was a member of St. Richard Church in Gibsonia. He enjoyed going to his cottage in Pymatuning, enjoyed fishing, hunting, cooking, talk radio & spending time with the people he loved especially his grandchildren Dawson C. and Brody P. Boyer. He proudly served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War. Besides his mother, he is survived by his former wife, Carmen Malloy and was happily together with Meghan Palmer. He was the father of Melanie Marie (Malloy) Boyer of Wexford, Hannah P. Malloy of Wexford and Sean M. Malloy of Lawrenceville; grandfather of Dawson C. and Brody P. Boyer; brother of Paul (Janice K.) Malloy of Munhall, Sharon McCracken of West Mifflin and Patrick A. Malloy of Duquesne. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Andres, Diana, Brittany, Mariajose, Juan Felipe, Jose Miguel, Anna Victoria and Isabella.

Gertrude A. Bytzura, age 96, of West Mifflin, formerly of Duquesne, passed away on January 5, 2021 at Manor Care-Whitehall.  Born in Duquesne on March 15, 1924, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Kosko) Harchar. She retired after 34 years for the Railroad Retirement Board. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish-Holy Name and St. Hedwig Churches, where she served as one of the first Eucharistic Ministers and Lectors and was a 37-year member of the former Altar and Rosary society. She had a passion for going to the Casinos, getting her hair done, going to Church and most of all, her grandchildren and great children were the love of her life. She was the wife of the late Michael Bytzura (Bytz); mother of Michael S. (Jo Ann) Bytzura of West Mifflin; Grandmother of Michele (Brandon) Kameg of Jefferson Hills, Leslie (John) Montesano of Peters Twp., Joseph (Tara) Bytzura of Jefferson Hills; Nana of Kamryn & Bryce Kameg, Mackenzie, Madisyn, Lincoln & Milena Montesano, and Kaiden & Kenley Bytzura.

Dolores M. Moran, age 89, died Saturday morning, January 2, 2021, at Morrison Woods Health Center in Muncie, Indiana. She was born January 13, 1931 in North Braddock, the daughter of Thomas and Mary (Vjlacky) Duray, attended St. Michael Catholic School and graduated from Scott High School. She moved to Muncie in 1961 with her husband, Edward J. Moran, to whom she had been married 64 years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the Women’s Association of the church. Surviving, besides her husband, are two sons, Thomas Moran (wife, Tracie) of Scranton, PA and Ronald Moran (wife, Diane) of Wyomissing, PA; three grandchildren, Kathryn, Claire and Audrey Moran. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Mary Lou Cherry. Jean Dolores (Buck) Fecho, of Duquesne, age 81, died peacefully at home on the first day of the New Year 2021. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Mary (Holko) Bak; her husband, John Fecho Jr.; and her sister, Dolores. She is survived by her son, John and Jeanmarie (Chervenak) Fecho; granddaughter, Aleda; son Joseph Fecho; sister, Marlene (Ted) Celedonia; numerous nieces and nephews; and furry friends, Daisy and Sabrina. In her younger years, she was employed by the Duquesne Plaza Theatre and Kennywood Park. After her graduation from Duquesne High School (‘57), she was employed by The Donnelley Directory in downtown Pittsburgh prior to becoming a full-time home-maker. “Nana” had a special talent and joy for cooking and baking. Her nut rolls and pumpkin pies were amazing!  She was adept at stock market trading, an avid follower of Democratic Party politics, and a person who taught us how to be better. Jean was a devoted member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish-Holy Name and St. Hedwig Churches. Joseph A. Radovic Jr., 84, of Duquesne, passed away on January 1, 2021, at Southwest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Rankin on September 29, 1936, he was the son of the late Joseph and Dorothy (Zegar) Radovic Sr. He was a retired crane operator for U.S. Steel-Homestead Works, a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish-Holy Trinity Church, a member of the Duquesne and Rankin Croatian Clubs, lead singer and musician for Bijela Ruza and an avid Pittsburgh Penguins Fan. He proudly served his country in the Army. He was the beloved husband of the late Dolores “Dolly” (Galata) Radovic; father of Joseph (Regina) Radovic of White Oak, Christopher (Sheila) Radovic of West Mifflin, Mary Beth (Dan) Denne of Elizabeth Twp., and Thomas (Rose) Radovic of Jefferson Hills; grandfather of Rachel, Matthew and Bethany Radovic, Christopher and Ryan (Emily) Radovic, Daniel, Seth, and Zachary (Alyssa) Denne, Jakob, Shawn, and Benjamin Radovic; great grandfather of Addilyn Radovic.

Age 103, of Lincoln Place, passed away on December 28, 2020 at UPMC Mercy. Born in McKees Rocks on October 28, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Adalbert and Leopoldina (Vavrick) Jozefczyk. She was a retired clerk at Kaufmann’s-Downtown, was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish-St. Hedwig Church, and was an avid bowler and enjoyed gardening. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Sigmund Kruszka and her second husband, Casmer Janus. She was the step mom of Alan (Linda) Janus of Bethel Park and the late Robert Kruse; grandmother of Jessica Janus; and sister of Eleanor Sweterlitsch of Moon Twp. Theodore J. “Ted” Schleifer III

On December 22, 2020, Theodore J. “Ted” Schleifer III, age 75, of North Braddock, received eternal life and was reunited with his late parents, Theodore J. and Evelyn F. (McClelland) Schleifer Jr. 

Theodore was the owner of the Schleifer Funeral Chapel and Professional Funeral & Cremation Services of North Braddock.  He was a graduate of St. Thomas District High School, Class of 1963, Duquesne University, Carlow College and the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and did graduate work as a Reading Specialist at the University of Pittsburgh.

He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, where he served as a lector and extraordinary minister of the Eucharist, past president of the Braddock Rotary Club, member of the Enterprise Zone, member of the Knights of Columbus and the Braddock Elks. He was the organist at Kerr Presbyterian Church in Penn Hills and a member of the Allegheny County, Steel Valley, and Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association.

Paul A. Wargo, age 72, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Duquesne, passed away on December 11, 2020 at UPMC Shadyside. Born in Pittsburgh on January 13, 1948, he was the son of the late Paul A. and Ethel (Koncz) Wargo Sr. A 1965 graduate of Duquesne High School, he was a retired boilermaker from Union #154 and a member of the Hungarian Reformed Church of Pittsburgh where he served on church council. He enjoyed motorcycles, was a music aficionado, was a competitive boxer, an artist, raised dogs and was dedicated to his family. He is survived by his sister, Nancy Wargo of Pittsburgh; nephew John Paul Wargo; niece Ava Wargo; friend Ray Gunn of Ft. Meyers, FL; cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his brother John (Amy Smith) Wargo of Ross Twp. Barbara Opat, age 67, of the Rosedale section of Verona, formerly of Duquesne, passed away on December 10, 2020, at home.  Born in Vinski Vrh, Croatia on October 21, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Dragutin & Marica T. (Tomas) Spudic. Barbara was a retired clerical worker for the Croatian Fraternal Union for 40 years, a member of St. Joseph Church, Verona, longtime member of the former Sacred Heart Parish, McKeesport and a 1973 graduate of Serra High School. She loved the outdoors, walking, yoga & the Tamburitzans. She was the beloved wife of Michael Opat for 46 years; mother of Susan (Jeff) Ezykowsky Sr. of West Mifflin and Nicole (Michael) Zalac of Harrison City; “Mimi” to her two grandchildren Jeffrey Ezykowsky Jr. and Brooks Zalac; sister of John Spudic of North Huntingdon and Walter (Valerie) Spudic of Pine Richland; and aunt of Charley & Eddy Spudic. There will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph Church, Duquesne, on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. Michael Conway officiating. Karen Lee Polakovic, 63, formerly of West Mifflin, passed peacefully on December 9, 2020, in her sleep, from this world to the next. She was the daughter of the late Irene (Matola) and Stephen Francis Polakovic, both of whom she lovingly cared for in their home at the end of their lives. She was a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, with a degree in Special Education. She made a positive impact on the many children with special needs that she taught throughout her long teaching career.  She also was a massage therapist and instructor. She loved to play the french horn and to sing alto. She was a terrific dancer. She enjoyed reading Nancy Drew books, playing scrabble and taking long walks. She adored her family, especially the children. She is survived by her sisters, Stephanie (Edward) Glazar, Laura (Derek) McNeill, Melissa (Domenic) D’Andrea, brother Mark (Bethanne) Polakovic; many nieces, Sarah, Renee, Allison, Celeste, Mallory and Liliana D’Andrea; nephews, Spencer and Trevor; great nephews, Zach Glazar and Elijah; one great niece, Audrey and many, many, many cousins.
