Joyce Dorothy Malec, 73, of Elizabeth Township, died peacefully at home on Thursday March 8, 2018. She was born August 14, 1944 in Wilkinsburg and was the daughter of the late Harry and Dorothy (Dryer) Whitehead.  She was the wife of the late Ronald Thomas Malec, Sr, who died November 16, 2012. Joyce was a homemaker and also worked for Union Cleaners. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle L. Malec of Elizabeth Township, sons, Ronald Thomas Malec, Jr, of Elizabeth Township and Daniel J. Malec of Sutersville, brother, Harry (Patricia) Whitehead of Pleasant Hills, grandson, Isadore F. Malec of Sutersville, nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth "Betty" (Cartia) Vozar, 88, of North Versailles, passed away peacefully at home on March 5, 2018. She was born July 2, 1929 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Charles Carmela and Maria Rosa (Urblik) Cartia. She was the wife of the late John Vozar. Elizabeth was a member of Miller United Methodist Church in North Versailles. She had previously worked for Orlando's Fruit Market, Cox's Dept. Store and the Salvation Army, all in McKeesport. She enjoyed cooking and baking daily for her family and friends. She also liked Sudoku and variety puzzle books. She loved watching the Food Network, game shows and the news. She never thought of herself, instead, always put others first. She was constantly thinking of what else she can do to make people happy - especially her family. She attended McKeesport High School, but had to quit at 15 years old to take care of her mother. She is survived by her sons, John (Becca) Vozar of Liberty Borough, Kenneth (Kathy) Vozar of North Versailles, and Pastor Ron (JoAnn) Vozar of Fredericktown, Ohio, and her daughter, Liz Vozar of Lincoln Borough. She was the sister of Jim (Nancy) Cartia of Manteca, CA, grandmother of Breanne (Michael) Cleary, Chelsea Vozar, Shaun Vozar, Wayne (Kellie) Vozar, Kristy (Bryan) Conklin, and Kelly (Jay) Russell. She was the great-grandmother of Emmalyn, Taylor, Zach, Ethan, Blake, Annalise, Caleb, and Luke. Elizabeth was one of thirteen children.

Regis Alan Hinerman, Jr., 49, of Forward Township, died Friday, March 2, 2018 at home. He was born June 17, 1968 in McKeesport and was the son of Peggy J. Stiens Hinerman of Elizabeth Township and the late Regis Alan Hinerman, Sr. Regis was a 1986 graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School and had worked for Basic Carbide. He had a passion for cars and mechanics. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his twin children, Emily Elizabeth and Nicholas James Hinerman at home along with their mother, Lisa Danca and Toni Lynn, sister, Dana Hinerman-Augustine of Collinswood, NJ, brother, Brandon J. (Emily) Hinerman of Forward Township, aunt, Janet (John) Agnew of Eighty-Four, uncles, Jerry (Rosalie) Hinerman of McKeesport, David (Bella) Hinerman of White Oak, Michael (Dana) Younge of Elizabeth Township, Jim Younge of West Mifflin, and Richard Younge of Kissimmee, FL, nephews, Damien and Logan, and many cousins and friends.

Melanie Sue Moffat, 63, of Dravosburg,  passed away Saturday, March  3, 2018. She was born September 28, 1954 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Alma Mae Eisenhuth Moffat and Robert (Evelyn Farkas) Moffat of Boston. Melanie was a retired Administrative Assistant at Elizabeth Forward School District with 35 years of service. She was secretary to the High School Principal, Guidance Dept, Athletic Dept. and District Business Manager as well as the District Special Education Dept. Melanie was instrumental in organizing the Senior Citizen's Luncheon, Graduation Ceremonies and the Crisis Control Team. She was also the Assistant Drama Director at the high school and started the former Girls Club of Boston. Melanie was secretary to the Board of Directors of the Dravosburg Housing Authority and was also the Board Secretary of White Thorn Lodge Nudist Camp in Chippewa. She had also worked for Sears' Jewelry Dept. in Century III Mall. In addition to her father, she is survived by sisters, Belinda  (David)  Donahoe and Angel (Terry ) McCormley of Dravosburg and Janine (Daniel) McBride of White Oak,  brothers, Gordon (Joni) Moffat of Butler and Robert (Annette) Moffat of North Port, FL,  step-sisters, Renee (Steven) Spitzer of Somerset, KY, and Tabitha  (Charles) Geramita of Castle Shannon, aunts, uncles, cousins, 14 nieces and nephews, and 12 great-nieces and great-nephews.

Edward Greenewald, 89, of Elizabeth Township and Whitacre, VA , died Thursday, March  1, 2018. He was born May 16, 1928 in Christy Park and was the son of the late Herman and Marie Greenewald. He was the husband of the late Betty Lee Whitacre Greenewald who died February 21, 2014. Edward was a member of the Central Highlands Community United Methodist Church in Elizabeth Twp., and was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and the Elizabeth Pantry. He worked for US Steel Irvin Works Engineering Department and retired from the Accounting Department of US Steel Homestead Works. Edward was a Korean veteran and served in the Armored Division. He kept active playing golf and traveling. He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Lee (Dr. Kerry) Bertschinger and his son, Robert E.  Greenewald of Gore, VA, grandchildren, Brandy Lee, Bridget Lee and Brent Van Bertschinger, sister, Marie Plencik of North Versailles, great-grandchildren, Vannah, Aubrey, Zander and Keidan, nieces and nephews.

Nancy Lee (Petterson) Wallace, 64, of Elizabeth Township, passed away peacefully at home on February 27, 2018. She was born November 29, 1953 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Florence (Bishop) Petterson. She was a Medical Secretary for Gateway Foot and Ankle in West Mifflin and was a member of the White Oak American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Nancy’s personality was 24 Carat gold and her smile would light up an entire room. She was the best wife, mother, sister, daughter, and faithful friend to anyone lucky enough to know her. She will be missed by many. She is survived by her husband, Robert “Bob” C. Wallace, sons, Brian (Bernadette) Jordan of Greenock and Jeffrey (Johanna) Jordan of Bozeman, MT, step-children, Robert P. (fiancée, Trish) Wallace of Plum Borough, Amy L. She was the wife of the late Bernard Francis Philburn, Sr., who died April 18, 1994. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church of Boston and was also an Elder and Clerk of Session. She was she was a member of Pythian Sisters, Dames of Malta, McKeesport Salvation Army Ladies Auxiliary, and the Elizabeth Township Senior Citizens. She was a founding member of the Elizabeth Township Historical Society. She is survived by sons, Bernard Philburn, Jr., of Marian, IN., and Frank (Beth) Philburn of Finleyville, daughters, Linda Snedden of Hundred, WV., and Mary Jo (Shawn) Schultz of Elizabeth Township, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Walter W. "Wally" Gibbons, 79, of Elizabeth Township, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, February 11, 2018. He was born in McKeesport on May 31, 1938 and was the son of the late Walter and Helen (Winkler) Gibbons. He was a member of the Elizabeth Baptist Church where he served many positions. He was also a member of the Pennsylvania Athletic Directors Association, the Elizabeth Forward Alumni and Friends Association and the Elizabeth Township Seniors. Wally was a Teacher, Head Basketball Coach,  Head Track Coach and was also Athletic Director at Elizabeth Forward High School. He retired after 33 years of service. He taught World Cultures, History, English, Science and Math. He was a graduate of McKeesport High School and Clemson University where he attended on a Basketball Scholarship. He also served on the Elizabeth Forward School Board. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Darla Ruth Golz Gibbons, daughters, Debra Ruth Gibbons and her lifetime partner, Donald R. Short of Pleasant Hills and Lynn Renee' and her husband Frank Przywarty of New Castle, grandson, Nichalas Gibbons Przywarty,  sister-in-law, Bernice and her husband Bill Vaughn of McKeesport, a niece, Nancy and her husband Tom Andrejko, nephew, David and his wife, Marianne Vaughn, great-nieces and great-nephews and many special cousins and friends.

Alexander (Alex) J. Semchak, 96, of Greenock, Elizabeth Township, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2018 surrounded by his beloved son, daughter, and close family friends. He was born on June 5, 1921 in McKeesport, and was the son of the late Georgius and Maria (Cybak) Semchak. Alex, a WWII Veteran, proudly served his country as a Captain in the US Army Signal Corps. His distinguished military service was acknowledged by the many commendations he received including the following: American Campaign Medal-WWII, American Defense Medal with Bronze Star-WWII, Army Good Conduct Medal with Bronze Two Knot Device, European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with Bronze Star, WWII Victory Medal, and the Army Presidential Unit Citation. It was during his 4 year tour of duty in Europe that he met and married the love of his life, Valerie (Ludgate) Semchak. Alex was well known due to his membership in numerous social clubs including the following: White Oak American Legion Post 701, Elizabeth Township Ex-Serviceman's Association in Boston, Sutersville Moose Lodge 1358, Order of the Owls Nest 1649, Buena Vista Volunteer Fire Co, Croation Club and Croation Men's Club Lodge 146 in Versailles, 11th Ward Welfare Association in McKeesport and the WMBU in Blythedale.

Patricia A. "Patsy" Christeson, 79, of Elizabeth Township, died Sunday, February 4, 2018 at home with her children and her dog, Lucy by her side. She was born December 10, 1938 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine Skiffington Martin. She was the wife of the late Alfred E. "Chris" Christeson who died August 23, 2007. They were married for 46 years. She was a member of the former St. Pius V Catholic Church in McKeesport and the Kiwanis Club. She was an amazing seamstress that could design, sew, or make anything and everything. She began sewing when she was 5 years old and making alterations on people's clothes before she was 10. She always said that we could take away her car, but not her sewing machine. She handmade her grandchildren's Christening and Baptismal gowns which are even more cherished now. She was happiest at her family built cabin in Cameron County, with her late husband, children and grandchildren where she enjoyed hunting, fishing, sewing and making items with wood (furniture, cedar chests and chairs) with many going to family or friends. She is survived by children, Michael (Carol) Christeson of Washington, Daniel (Roberta Walk) Christeson,  Paul "Toby" (Jamie) Christeson and Kristine (Jack) Cant of Elizabeth Township. "G" spent a lot of time with her  grandchildren, Jess Cant, Kaitlyn, Pearl, Kaylee, and Alfred Christeson. She is also survived by her brother, James "Mickey" Martin of Winterhaven, Florida, sister-in-law, Dee Martin of North Huntingdon, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He and his late brother Albert owned and operated the former Cramer Brothers Marine in Elizabeth. Wayne and Albert loved Muskie Fishing in Canada. He is survived by his wife, Hazel J. Chaussinand Cramer, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Albert and his wife Veronica Cramer, Jr.
