Marlene Mary Boyd, 85, of North Huntingdon, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2023 at home. She was born February 28, 1938 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late John and Pauline (Rack) Koval. She was the wife of the late Edgar Clare Boyd who passed away January 6, 2016. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Chuck) Campbell of West Newton and Rebecca "Becky" (Matt Kramer) Cook of Mendon, NY, grandchildren, Christopher Cook, Michael Boyd, Jr., Bart Hambright, Dylan Boyd-Dower, and Joshua Cook, great-grandchildren, Evan Cook, Jasalyn Hambright, Ava Cook, Charlie Hambright and Jason D. Hambright, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Boyd, grandsons, Jason Hambright and Edgar Hambright, brother, Carl Koval and a sister, Audrey Metzler. Diana Louise Rager, 74, of Turtle Creek, passed away Thursday August 31, 2023 at home.  She was born November 4, 1948 in Pittsburgh and was the daughter of the late Robert Chester and Vesta Ann (Maxwell) Ashcroft. She was wife of the late Kenneth Raymond Rager, Sr., who passed away in 1995.  Diana obtained her Associates Degree to become a Pharmacy Technician from CCAC and went on to work as a Pharmacy Technician for the former Medicine Shoppe in McKeesport for over 20 years and then went on to work for 17 years as a Pharmacy Technician Supervisor for United Healthcare until her retirement in 2019.  She was also a member of the former Kephart Church in McKeesport.  She had previously trained and was a Boy Scout leader and ran the junior bowling program at the former White Oak Bowling Alley.  She was a devoted grandmother and will be greatly missed.

Terrance “Terry” M. Johnson, age 59, of McKeesport, PA, departed life as we know it unexpectedly on Saturday, August 26, 2023.  Born May 31, 1964, in Braddock, he was the son of the late Elizabeth “Liz” Johnson and Fred Smith and brother of the late Tiffany Johnson.  Terry was a 1982 graduate of McKeesport High School and served in the US Army from 1984 to 1988.  He was an avid fan of all sports.  However, basketball was his favorite.  More than anything, Terry enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends.

John "Jack" F. Thieme, 61, of North Huntingdon died Thursday, August 31, 2023 at UPMC East. He was born September 24, 1961 in McKeesport, a son of the late Ferdinand F. and Ida (Sailor) Thieme. Jack was the owner of Thieme Heating and Air Conditioning. He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church and a graduate of Norwin High School Class of 1979. He loved his Alaskan Malamutes. He is survived by his sister, Deborah L. Thieme and numerous cousins. Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at James W. Kenneth Leon Woods, Sr., age 73, of Pittsburgh, died at home on August 26, 2023.  Born October 9, 1949, in East Chicago, IN, he was the son of the late Charlie Sr. and Eugene (Cole) Woods.  Growing up in East Chicago, Kenneth was a track and football star in high school.  He was the halfback on the football team and a record holder for many years in the 100-meter dash.  He enjoyed watching football and was a die-hard Steelers fan.  Kenneth was an avid fisherman and passionate about making his lures and trying them out on the shores of Lake Erie.  He was a self-taught photographer and especially loved taking photos of his family.  Kenneth cherished many trips to the casinos of Atlantic City and locally with his brother Robert.

He was a retired electrical technician and consultant for Lectromelt in Pittsburgh. An Air Force veteran having served in the Korean War, he was a member of Central Highlands Community United Methodist Church in Elizabeth Twp., the Kastan-Uveges VFW Post 7632 in Elizabeth, and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and all things outdoors. Born October 10, 1936 in Elizabeth, he was a son of the late John and Catherine Firczak. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Donna J. (Joll) Firczak; sons, Dr. Scott (Susan) Firczak of Mt. Ulla, NC and Rick (Vickie) Firczak of Mooresville, NC; sister, Wilma Fedorka of Elizabeth; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Randy A. Ronald Lee Cisler, age 74, of West Mifflin, died at his home on August 29, 2023, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in McKeesport on December 10, 1948, he was the son of the late Roy Cisler and the late Mary Ann (Palatas) Cisler Clayton. He worked at U.S. Steel-Duquesne Works as an instrument repairman and at the VA Medical Center as a stationary engineer at the boiler plant. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, the Teutonia Mannerchor Club-Duquesne, and the Duquesne-West Mifflin Knights of Columbus Council #4210. He enjoyed camping at Rose Point Park for over 25 years. Ron is survived by his wife of 54 years, Aggie (Boytos) Cisler. He is the father of Ronald II and his wife Tiffany Cisler and Suzie (Jason Peterson); pap of Codey Hamilton (Alexa Kent); and brother of Clarence Clayton. He is also survived by his grand dog, Harley. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Robert Clayton, brother Robert Cisler, sister Mary Ellen Wilson and his beloved dog, Uppie. Mari “Mar” Rae Check, 47, of McKeesport, formerly of Liberty Boro and Elizabeth, passed away at home on Friday, August 25, 2023. She was born in McKeesport on July 17, 1976, to Joseph A. Check and Rhonda Maust Armstrong. Mari was the loving partner of 17 years to Stephen Burey. She is survived by her father Joseph A. Check, of Charleroi, mother Rhonda Armstrong, of McKeesport, partner Stephen Burey, daughters Paige Wasko, of McKeesport, Emmy Lou Burey, of McKeesport, sister Tamie (Mark) Panza, of Charleroi, many nieces and nephews, many dear friends and loyal dog Dixie. Mari was preceded in death by sisters Tracy Check, Autumn Marie Bentley, and brother Todd Bentley. She was a member of the Judah Ministries in McKeesport, and the Teamsters #205 of White Oak. She enjoyed spending time with her children, and family. She also loved the outdoors and the many activities that came with it like hiking, camping, visiting different waterfalls and simply just enjoying nature. Mari worked at McKeesport Hospital as a dietician and previously worked as a cook for 8 years at Jo-Lynn's Pizza in Port Vue.
