Jean (Dabruzzo) Todaro age 87 of Glassport, died January 2,2020 at Presbyterian hospital. Born on October 24, 1932 in Glassport. She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Maria (DiPaolo) Dabruzzo; beloved wife of Frank (Rock) Todaro. Jean Is survived by sisters Josephine Metz; also step son Ralph Todaro, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Anthony, Quirino, James, Guido, Nicholas; sister, Ida Null and step daughter Barbara Fulton. Jean was retired from the GC Murphy Co. McKeesport and Jefferson Regional Medical Ctr in Homestead. She was a member of Queen of the Rosary. Friends received WOJCIECHOWSKI FUNERAL HOME, Glassport, Sunday 2-6 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday 10:00 a.m. at Queen of the Rosary Parish. Interment following St. Joseph Cemetery in North Versailles.

Eleanor Lynch Anater, 79, of White Oak, died on Wednesday January 1, 2020 at Jefferson Hospital after surgical complications. Ellie was born in Pittsburgh on September 11, 1940 to Ida (McGrady) and William J. Lynch. She grew up on Chislett Street in the Morningside neighborhood of Pittsburgh with her younger sisters, Bea and Marge, always by her side. She met her devoted husband, Tom, while they were both students at Duquesne University, where she earned her B.S. in Biology. They married at St. Raphael’s Church in Morningside in 1963. Together they had six children: Mark, Michael, Susan, Sharon, Patrick, and Tim. She was a devoted member of St. Angela Merici Parish for 47 years. She was selfless in serving her parish family and its school. She was their long-time Parish Secretary and Director of the Junior Ladies of Charity. She was in charge of flowers and church decorations for every important date on the liturgical calendar for as long as memory serves.

Kenneth Edward Kaczka, age 71 of Liberty Borough, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 in the VA Hospital Healthcare System - University Drive Campus, Pittsburgh. Born May 10, 1948 in Braddock, he was a son of the late Joseph E. and Irene A. (Kollar) Kaczka. A parishioner of St. Mark's Parish in Liberty Borough and a union member of the IBEW Local #1919, Kenneth was a decorated veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving with valor and distinction in combat in the Vietnam War and earning the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was also a member of the Liberty Veterans Association. Kenneth is survived by his siblings Joseph A. (Karen) Kaczka of Avon Lake, OH, Donald (Judy) Kaczka of Liberty Borough, Kathy Kaczka of Penn Hills, Larry (Linda) Kaczka of South Park, and Mary Ann Perkins of Hidden Valley; and his nieces and nephews: Michael, Jacob, Levi, Nicholas, and Patrick Kaczka, Hannah Camic, Marena Wood, and Chelsea Perkins.

Pastor August M. Thalman, Jr., 92, of Elizabeth, passed away Monday, December 30, 2019. He was born January 19, 1927 in Freeport and was the son of the late August M. and Daisy (Johns) Thalman, Sr. Pastor Thalman was a former Pastor of Bethesda Presbyterian Church in Elizabeth. He was a member of the Elizabeth Volunteer Fire Co., and was a former chaplain at the Veterans Administration Nursing Home in Butler. He was a Pastor in area churches for over 50 years and was also a WWII US Navy Veteran. For his service, he received the Pacific Theater Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon and the WWII Victory Medal.

Lloyd Paul Miller, 87, of Irwin, died Tuesday December 31, 2019, at Golden Heights, Irwin. He was born October 9, 1932 in East McKeesport, a son of the late Lloyd P. and Esther Johnson Miller.
He was a retired employee of Bell Telephone with 37 years’ service. He was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Irwin and a former active member of Lutheran Church of Our Savior, North Huntingdon. He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict and an avid woodworker and bowler and enjoyed photography. He built both homes his family was raised in.
Paul wintered in Florida for many years with his late wife Suzanna and was a loving father and grandfather.

Janet I. (Gundy) Schiavone, age 80, of Irwin, passed away Monday, December 30, 2019. She was born December 8, 1939 in Duquesne, a daughter of the late Albert and Elise Gundy.
She worked in the drive thru of Wendy’s Restaurant in Irwin for over 23 years before retiring. She loved to golf, bowl, and travel once a year to Las Vegas and enjoyed coffee with her close friend and neighbor Susan.
She is survived by her husband of over 63 years Joseph C. Schiavone; children Joseph (Marcy) Schiavone of Greensburg, Michael (Mary) Schiavone of Harrison City, Kenny Schiavone of Pittsburgh, and James Schiavone, Ralph (Roxane) Schiavone, and Robert (Denise) Schiavone all of Irwin; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and her sister Jonella.

Edward J. Balog, Sr., age 80 of McKeesport, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 in UPMC McKeesport. Born July 31, 1939 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late George and Anna (Sopp) Balog. A member of St. Patrick's R.C. Church in McKeesport, Edward received his Bachelors of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and worked as an industrial engineer with US Steel, Westinghouse, Modulus, and Teledyne. He finished his working career as a maintenance supervisor at Mayview Hospital and also taught plant layout and design at CCAC Boyce Campus in Monroeville. In his spare time, he was a car buff, a cat lover, and a talented handyman. Most importantly, Edward is now reunited with the love of his life, the late Pauline (Cherepko) Balog, who passed away August 26, 2011. He is now truly at peace. Edward is survived by his children Edward J. (Rhonda) Balog, Jr. of North Huntingdon, David G.
