Patricia Ann (Schneider) Else, 86, of Pleasant Hills, died January 1, 2020. She was the loving wife of the Rev. J. David Else; cherished mother of Cathy Irene LaFluer, Jeffrey David Else and the late Sandra Marie Rexa; loving grandmother to Michael, Andrew and Danny LaFluer, Julie Rexa, Joshua and Jacob Else; adoring G.G. to Riley; and treasured sister, aunt, cousin and friend of many.

Friends were received at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 4048 Brownsville Road, Brentwood, where a Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated at 12 noon Jan. 4.

 Kendra R. Brown, 41 of Sutersville, died Dec. 29, 2019.  She is the daughter of Gloria (Coddington) Brown and the late Kenneth Brown, Sr.  Kendra is survived by her fiance Ronald Beck of McKeesport; children Thomas (Danielle Dziaminski) Gindlesperger, Jr. of Clairton, Mikayla Gindlesperger of FL, Ethan Gindlesperger and Isaiah Gindlesperger of Clairton; sister Tina (Robert) Flohr of Port Vue; brother Kenneth Brown, Jr. of Elizabeth; grandsons Thomas Gindlesperger, III and Eric Johnston; nieces Ashley Raymond, Destiny Flohr, Emma Flohr and Lilly Siemon; nephews Shayne Flohr and Caleb Flohr and great niece Kaci Pitterich. Friends received Wojciechowski  Funeral Home, Glassport Wed. from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 and Thurs. from 9:30 to 10:30.  Interment following Round Hill Cemetery.

 


Bernard "Bernie" Edward Arndt

Bernard "Bernie" Edward Arndt, 77 years old, died of natural causes in his North Huntingdon home on January 5, 2020.  He was born on February 16, 1942, to Albert Leo Arndt and Bertha Ann Bachus Arndt.  Bernie proudly served in the Marine Corps for 4 years, stationed in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina and in Cuba where he received several medals and accommodations for good conduct, national defense service metal, rifle expert badge and pistol expert badge.  September 1968, Bernie married, the love of his life, Luanne "Lu" Nicole.  Bernie and Lu were the proud parents of one son, Richard "Richie" Arndt.  Bernie's work career included a long-term employment with Beckwith Machinery and Cleveland Brothers at their Murrysville site where he worked in computer programming and software troubleshooting.  Bernie loved to travel both nationally and internationally with his wife, as well as taking Lu antique shopping and to craft shows.  He also enjoyed taking his sister, Bridget, gambling.  He was a long-term resident of the Penns Woods community in North Huntingdon where he enjoyed sitting on his porch people watching and talking to the neighbors.  He also enjoyed supporting the many events sponsored by the Penns Woods Civic Association.  Bernie loved his family and his country.  He was known for his sarcastic sense of humor.  He is predeceased by his wife, Luanne; and his son Richie, as well as his siblings, Anna Mary Schwan, Joseph Arndt, Paul Arndt, Delores "Dee" Ley, and Walburga “Bridget” Arndt.  He is survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.  Friends will be received from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon.  A blessing service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday in the funeral home chapel.  Interment to follow in Brush Creek Cemetery, Irwin.  Those who wish to remember Bernie in a special way are asked to make a donation in his name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Marine Corps Veterans Association.  www.shirleyfuneralhome.com

 


Jean Britha Goodrum Hudson

Jean Britha Goodrum Hudson, 86 died peacefully surrounded by family members on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 in Cumming, GA, where she had resided at the Oaks at Hampton Assisted Living Center since moving from Shalimar, FL, in 2016.  She had been a long-time resident of Florida, living in Homestead and Shalimar.  Jean was born in West Mifflin, PA on April 28, 1933 to the late James and Britha Andrews Goodrum, the last of six children.  Jean was married for 24 years to the late Thomas A. Hudson, Jr. (Air Force Retired), until his death in 1977. Jean worked as a civil servant beginning her career with the Department of Defense and retiring from the Department of the Interior.  After retirement, she enjoyed her grandchildren and fellowship with the First Baptist Church of Niceville, Florida, where she was a long standing member.  She is survived by her daughter; Linda Jean Hudson (David) DeLarios, of Cumming, GA, and son; Thomas James (Kimberly) Hudson, of Spring Hill, FL, grandchildren;  Rebecca R. Hudson,  Thomas C. Hudson, Erika H. Phipps,  Emily  J. Hudson ,  and Hudson A. DeLarios. In addition, Jean was blessed with fifteen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas A. Hudson, Jr., sisters; Hannah McDevitt, Mary DaBaldo and Viola Edwards, and brothers; James and Arnold Goodrum.  Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, January 7th from 2-4 and 6-8 at S.M. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 432 N. 6th St, Clairton, PA 15025. A service will take place on Wednesday, January 8th at 11:00 am at the funeral home to be followed by interment at Lebanon Presbyterian Church Cemetery, West Mifflin, PA.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America at 322 Eighth Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10001.  Online condolences may be offered at www.finneyfuneralhome.com.

Brkovich, age 82 of North Huntingdon, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2020 in The Grove at Irwin.  Born May 5, 1937 in Versailles, he was a son of the late Matthew and Mildred (Brketic) Brkovich.  A member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in North Huntingdon and a US Army Veteran of the Korean War, William was the former Chief of Police of both Versailles Borough and North Huntingdon Township, a flight instructor at both Rostraver and Allegheny County Airports, and a member of the Operating Engineers Local #66.  He was a member of the Allegheny and Western PA Chiefs Association, the FOP #91, the White Oak American Legion, CFU Versailles Lodge #146, the Civil Air Patrol at the Allegheny County Airport, and a graduate of FBI Training School.  Besides his parents, William was preceded in death by his children James and Roxanne Brkovich and his siblings Ann Tucker and George, "Peaches," Frank, and John Brkovich.  He is survived by his wife Loretta (Goreski) Brkovich; his son Lester "Boo" (Jamie) Brkovich of McKeesport; his stepchildren Marlene (Jeff Brohman) Antonelli of Lakeworth, FL, Michelle Antonelli of North Huntingdon, and Martin (Risa) Antonelli, Jr. of North Huntingdon; his grandchildren C.J., Sarah, and Brian; his sister Katherine Carr of Versailles; and also nieces and nephews.
