Kenneth I. Pitchford, age 89, of White Oak, died on Tuesday, May 3, 2022. He was born in McKeesport on July 26, 1932 and is the son of the late William C. and Gladys I. Monk Pitchford. He worked at USX National Tube for many years. He was a firefighter and chief for the former Mon-Yough Fire Department as well as a former chief for the White Oak Volunteer Fire Company #1. He was the last surviving Charter Member of Post 701 - White Oak American Legion and was the Mon-Yough Fire Defense Council Coordinator during the Famous Department Store fire in downtown McKeesport in 1976. He was a life member of the White Oak American Legion, General Smedley D. Butler, Post 701 and a life member of the Rainbow Volunteer Fire Company. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, where he was a certified firefighter.

Mary J. Sarti, age 86, of Liberty Borough, died May 3, 2022, at UPMC Forbes Hospital. Born January 25, 1936, in Uniontown, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Bryner) Baytos and the wife of the late Armand V. "Herman" Sarti.
Mary dedicated her life to taking care of her family. She was a member of Liberty Presbyterian Church. Mary was an avid music lover.
Mary is survived by her son, Joseph (Marilyn) Sarti of Liberty Borough; step-children, Jo Louise (Ken) Sealy of Monessen, Dino (Jane) Sarti of Markelysburg, Kim Sarti of Kennedy Township, Armand (Jackie) Sarti of North Huntingdon, Toni Sarti of Monessen; grandchildren, Anthony (Paige Davis) Sarti and Angelyn (Ronald) Richardson; step-grandchildren, Michael, Dominic and Kristi Sarti; great-grandchildren, Raelyn, Riley, and Ronald Richardson; siblings, Martin (Mary Jane) Baytos of Brunswick, OH and Elizabeth Rose of OH; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was also preceded in death by a son, John Baytos and brother, DeWayne Bryner.
Family and friends will be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. The funeral service will be on Monday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Entombment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Park.

William S. "Bill" Butler, 91, of Greensburg passed away Monday, May 2, 2022. He was born October 5, 1930 in McKeesport and was the son to the late William Thomas and Margaret (McCulley) Butler. A 1951 graduate of McKeesport Vocational School, he became a certified machinist by trade and worked at Teledyne for 30 years before transferring to Kennametal in Latrobe for 10 years. Bill served in the Army during the Korean War and was Honorably Discharged. He was a long time member of the Holy Trinity Church and after closing, he became a member at St. Patrick's Church. On July 22, 1953 Bill married the love of his life, Marlene T. (Buzek) Butler, and passed away just two months shy of their 69th wedding anniversary. Bill was an avid golfer, and bowler and was a part of many leagues through the years. He was also a member of the Croatian Fraternal Lodge #146 and of the 11th Ward Social Club. He was a handyman, always building and "I can fix it" was his answer to anything that needed done.

Jeffrey J. Hoagland, 67, of McKeesport, passed away Monday, May 2, 2022. He was born May 28, 1954 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Glenn and Mary Louise (Lundie) Hoagland. He was a US Navy veteran and a proud 1972 graduate of McKeesport High School. Jeffrey graduated from CCAC South in West Mifflin and went on to work in The Coronary Care Unit and later as a Health Care Expeditor for UPMC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Debra A. (Gobel) Hoagland, sons, Christopher (Stephanie) Hoagland of Export, Jeremy Hoagland, and Joseph Hoagland both of McKeesport, a granddaughter, sisters, Marcia (Joe) Lust and Joy (Shawn) Bilak, as well as aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Mark Hoagland and sister, Barbara King. Nancy Dworek, beloved child of our heavenly father, has gone home to be with the Lord. She passed to her eternal life peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. Her greatest accomplishment was the legacy of love she leaves behind. She was a kind and compassionate individual who showed her family what strength and perseverance looked like. She was a giving and generous person who always helped others in need. Nancy had a gift of making everyone around her feel welcomed, appreciated and loved. She had a sense of humor and a smile that would light up the room. Being around her was like being in the presence of sunshine. Nancy was an incredible woman who touched the lives of so many people around her. She will be deeply missed and will be remembered today and every day. Mary G. Szabo, 102, of West Mifflin, died May 3, 2022. She is the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary (Lorincz) Rinkacs and wife of the late Elmer Szabo. Kenneth Raymond Youngerman, 50, of N. Huntingdon, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2022 at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital. He was born June 5, 1971 in McKeesport, a son of Hilda (Brown) Youngerman and the late Kenneth Youngerman. Kenneth worked as a plumber and was a graduate of Norwin Sr. High School and a member of St. Agnes. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Lisa Ann. Pastor Walter E. Patton, Jr., age 97, of Glassport, died April 27, 2022, at the Southwestern Veterans Center. Born September 19, 1924, in Versailles Twp., he was the son of the late Walter E. and Johanna (Hamilton) Patton and husband of the late Margaret (McRae) Patton for 74 years. Walter was a retired United Methodist minister. Over the years, he served the Lord and his people in many communities, including Verona, Coalport, Irvona, Glen Hope, Homestead, Highland Grove, Whitaker, and Glassport. Walter was a certified P.I.A.A. baseball umpire and football official and officiated many games throughout western Pennsylvania. He umpired Little League, Prep League, American Legion, and Daily News games, as well as fast and slow-pitch softball games. Volunteering and giving back to others was a fundamental mission for Walter. He was a docent at the Heinz History Center, an usher at the Benedum, and delivered Meals on Wheels up until he was 90 years old. He raised money and supported causes very important to him in Uganda. Walter retired as a rigger after 36 years of employment with US Steel National Works. A U.S. Army Corps Veteran, he served on the Island of Trinidad, England, and France. Walter was a proud 1942 graduate of McKeesport High School.

George Michael Perkosky, age 79, of Hampton, passed away on April 27, 2022. Son of George and Veronica (Stitt) Perkosky. Survived by his wife, Mary Ann (Gregory), sons, John (Laura) and Jeff, and grandchildren, Lexy and Owen. Also survived by his sisters, Frances and Mary Lynn and numerous nieces and nephews. Georgie to his sisters and wife, he grew up an East McKeesport kid that provided him with many lifelong friendships. George served in the Army, used the GI bill to help get his degrees from Pitt and spent his career as a counselor for the VA. He was a staunch Democrat, a voracious reader and a wordsmith extraordinaire. He was a long-time coach of his sons’ baseball, wrestling and football teams. George’s family was his world, and we could not have asked for a better husband, father and grandfather. He is missed.

Dorothy E. (Stone) Burnside, age 89, of Irwin, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2022. She was born June 5, 1932 in Duquesne, a daughter of the late Chester & Harriet Stone.
She was married to Albert L. Burnside, Jr for over 61 years before his passing. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by sister Harriet Larson, and brothers Frederick Stone and George Stone. She is survived by her siblings, Adele Mary Stone of Arroyo Grande, CA and Theodore Stone of Belle Vernon, PA and her children Terry Burnside of Lexington Park, MD, Richard (Debi, at rest) Burnside of Santa Maria, CA, and Ruth Ghrist of Lexington Park, MD; grandchildren Christopher Ghrist of Newville, PA , Tara (Stephen) Facini of Hollywood, MD and Heather (Kevin) Thompson of Henderson, NV; along with 4 great grandchildren Jacob Ghrist, and Juliana, Ilena, and Leland Thompson. She was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and her closest cousin, Becky (Rich) Zahren, who visited regularly and helped with her care over the last years. The family is eternally grateful for their love and support.
Dorothy was a long-time teacher’s assistant with the Westmoreland Intermediate Unit #7 before retiring, but before that, she met her beloved husband, Albert “Bud” working at Sears. She was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church in Irwin where she participated in the choir and church activities and was also active with the Girl Scouts, Eastern Star and White Shrine. She also volunteered at many local events and as the WIU #7 union president for support personnel for several years.
