Elizabeth A. Evans, 73, of ElizabethTwp., passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017. Born September 29, 1944 in McKeesport Hospital. She was the daughter of the late James and Esther Allen. Liz is survived by her husband of 55 years Larry Evans Sr.; children Lora Walz of McKeesport, Larry (Deborah) Evans Jr. of Elizabeth Twp., Timothy Evans of Elizabeth, and Christopher (Dana) Evans of Elizabeth Twp; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters Esther Deisroth of Clairton and Cathy Evans of West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her daughter Tracey Evans; brothers Fred Allen and Eugene Allen; sisters Marion Mitchell, Nancy Kypreos, and Dolores Satterfield; step-mother Ruth Allen. Liz was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Clairton. Friends will be received Friday at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport from 2-4 and 6-8 at which time a service will be held with Rev. Harold Dangel. Liz lived for her family, she opened her heart and her home to everyone she met and always made them feel welcomed. She will be greatly missed by all.

 


Stephen Baran

Stephen Baran, 96 of Glassport died Dec. 19, 2017.  He is the husband of the late Genevieve Baran.  He is survived by his daughter Eleanor (Pat) O'Hara of West Mifflin; son Stephen Baran of Bear Rocks; grandsons Stevie Baran, Sean O'Hara, Adam O'Hara and Aaron O'Hara and granddaughter Lindsay Zeiler; great grandsons Stephen and Andrew and brother Paul Baran.  Stephen was retired from US Steel Irvin Works, a member of Queen of the Rosary Parish, American Legion in Clairton and served in the US Navy.  Friends received Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport Thurs. 3-7.  A funeral blessing will be held Fri. 1:00 pm in the funeral home with Father Miroslaus Wojcicki.  Interment following New St. Joseph Cemetery.

 


Helen (Nolfi) Sovich

Helen (Nolfi) Sovich, 80, of Glassport passed away at Southwestern Nursing facility.  She was a faithful and devoted wife of 63 years to her surviving husband Richard Sovich; most loving mother to her son Richard (Becky) Sovich, Jr. and daughter Shelly (Steve) Gilligan and most loving grandmother to Erick Sovich.  She is also survived by her sister Mary(Arthur) Cipriani, sister-in-law Patricia Nolfi and other extended family, nieces and nephews.  She was the proud daughter of  Italian immigrants Eligio and Adele Nolfi.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her twin brother Dr. E. James Nolfi, brother Del Nolfi and sister Lena Dacquisto.  Friends received Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport Thurs. 2-4 and 6-8.  A funeral mass will be held Fri. 10:00 am at Ascension of Our Lord Byzantine Catholic Church in Clairton.  Interment following Ascension Cemetery.

Bernard “Duddy” Tison of McKeesport, PA passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2017.  He was born in Glassport, PA on July 23, 1927 the son of the late Anthony and Susan Ferjanc Tison.  He was predeceased in death by wife Patricia Norberg Tison and sisters—Sister Elvira (Clara), Irene Gaydos, Mary Koltisa and Agnes Moranelli; brothers—Frank, Dominic, Joseph, Aloysius and Vincent and granddaughter Carrie Ann Gross.  He is survived by daughters Pattie (Charles) Gross and Sandra Tison, grandsons Charles (Denise) Gross, Michael (Kara) Gross and Scott Gross and 3 great grandchildren, stepchildren Keith (Anita) Daugherty, Debra Oskin (deceased), Kenneth Daugherty, stepgrandchildren Joshua (Alyssa) Oskin, Jonathan (Christa) Oskin), Shawn (Jessica) Daugherty, Kurt Daugherty and Brad Daugherty, Kristopher (Shannon) Daugherty and Kevin Daugherty along with 8 step great grandchildren and also numerous nieces and nephews.  He was retired from the Copperweld Corp. with 35 years of service and Gateway & Hydro Flush Exterminating Co.  He was a naval veteran and a member of the Dravosburg American Legion Post 380 and the Happy Go Lucky Square Dance Club.  Family and Friends will be received at Wojciechowski Funeral Home in Glassport on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8.  Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Queen of the Angels Church in Glassport.  Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery in Port Vue.

Herrmann, Sr., 72, of Adamsburg, formerly of White Oak, died Oct. 27,2017.  He is the son of the late Eugene and Mary Mae Herrmann.  He is survived by his wife Linda Diann (Wolfe) Herrmann; daughter Linda (Sean) Antonella of Greensburg; son David A. Herrmann, Jr. of Irwin; brothers Eugene (Janet) Herrmann of Glassport and Paul (Mary Alice) Herrmann of Largo, FL; sisters Kathy (Harry) Chesney of Braddyville, Iowa and Lori Mendiola of Junction City, Kansas; also 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his brother Rodger Herrmann.  David was a retired motor inspector for US Steel; a member of the White Oak American Legion; Junior Order of Mechanics Coal Valley Council #98 and served in the US Army.  Friends received Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport, Wed. 2-8.  A funeral service will be held Thurs. 11:00 am in the funeral home.  Interment following Penn Lincoln Memorial Park.

DONALD J. SLIVKA, 71, of Glassport died Oct. 14, 2017.

He is the son of the late Michael and Sally (Majzer) Slivka.  Don is survived by his girlfriend and companion, Gina Wawrzeniak; daughter Jennifer Slivka; son Mark D. Slivka; grandson Mark D. Slivka, Jr.; brother John (Linda) Slivka; nephews Jerry, John, Matthew and David and great nieces Zoe and Brooklyn. 

Don was a security guard for St. Moritz and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  Funeral arrangements are by Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport.

SHELLY L. KIRALY, 75 of Glassport, died Oct. 9, 2017.  She is the daughter of the late William and Anna (Andrews) Kiraly.  She is survived by her brother Bill Kiraly of White Oak; niece Alexandra Kiraly and her beloved dog, Bandit.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her aunt Helen Batt.  Shelly was a legal secretary for Scoratow and Dudik Law Firm; she did free lance typing for Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital as well as volunteer work.  She was an executive secretary for Westinghouse Electric Corp., Bettis Atomic Plant and also worked for Attorney Richard Zeleznik in the late 50's and early 60's.  Shelly was a member of the Senior Citizens Center in Glassport and was an avid golfer, accomplishing 8 hole-in-ones and was a 4-time woman's champ at Bel Meadow Country Club in West Virginia.  Shelly graduated from Glassport High School, where she was a majorette and went on to Grace Martin Business College, graduating with honors.  Friends received Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport, Fri. 2-4 and 6-8.  A funeral blessing will be held Sat. 10:00 am at the funeral home with Rev. Miroslaus Wojcicki.  Interment following McKeesport-Versailles Cemetery.
