Marcia Mae Fransko, age 83 of Butler, formerly of White Oak, died March 17, 2017, at Butler Memorial Hospital.  Born May 27, 1933, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Michael G. and Anna (Bronowski) Matwick and the wife of the late Robert J. Fransko for 62 years. Marcia Mae dedicated her life to caring for her family. She is survived by sons, Scott Gregory of White Oak and Douglas Stephan Fransko of Gilbert, AZ; daughter, Melissa Ann Corbelli of Gibsonia; sister, Darlene O'Toole of Castle Shannon; sisters-in-law, Patricia Babyak of South Park and Mim Matwick of Tempe, AZ; also survived by many nieces and nephews.  Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory from 11a.m. until the time of service at noon, on Tuesday, March 21, 2017.  Entombment will follow in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park Mausoleum. Joseph J. “Jay” Kovacs, age 63 of McKeesport, passed away at home on March 14, 2017 surrounded by his family after a hard fought 12 year battle.  Born February 16, 1954 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Joseph and Alberta (Spiegel) Kovacs and he was the loving husband of Patty (Mull) Kovacs for 43 years.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, Amy (Mark) Myers and Joseph Kovacs; grandchildren, Jocelyn Kovacs, Olivia, Emily, and Brock Myers; sister, Kathy (Tom) Filotei; brother, John (Kim) Kovacs; aunt, Clara Mae Salem; sister-in-law, Ginna (John) Sowa and many nieces, nephews, and friends.  Jay loved his Harley Davidson, fishing with family and friends, and was a jack of all trades who was always there to help someone in need.  He worked for Volkswagen in the Quality Control Department and later as a Lab Technician at Cronimet Specialty Metals in Rochester.  Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 6-9 p.m. and on Sunday, March 19, 2017 from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m.  A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 20, 2017 at NOON in the funeral home chapel.  Burial will follow at McKeesport & Versailles Cemetery.  Condolences may be shared at www.jaycox-jaworskifh.com

Lois J. Jackson, age 76 of McKeesport, died on March 12, 2017 at home. Born on December 13, 1940 in Bentleyville, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Louise (Cweirz) Sabo and the wife of the late William D. Jackson, Sr. Lois was a member of the Renzie Seniors, an avid reader and an animal lover who especially loved her cats, Paddington and Smitty. Lois is survived by her children, Cathy J. Jackson of West Homestead, William D. (Mary) Jackson, Jr. of North Attleboro, MA, Todd A. (Beth) Jackson of York, SC, and Kerri A. (Brian Byrd) Jackson of Pittsburgh; grandchildren, Brandi, Nikki (Danny), Alexandra, David, Jessica, Sarah (Wes), Danny (McKenzie), Olivia, Charlie and Ethan; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Brandon, Taylor, and Ally; siblings, Betty Miller of Downey, CA, Carl Sabo of Chillicothe, OH and John Sabo of Irwin; brother-in-law Carl Aston of Wilmerding; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Helen Marie Voss, age 93, of Titusville, FL, formerly of Elizabeth Twp., died March 10, 2017, at the Hospice of St. Francis, in Titusville, FL. Born January 6, 1924, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Nellie (Miesic) Mikrut and the wife of Albert L. Voss, Sr., for 70 loving years. Helen dedicated her life to caring for her family. She was a volunteer at McKeesport Hospital for over 25 years. Helen was a member of the Corpus Christi Church and a Christian Mother. She enjoyed bowling and golfing, especially at the Youghiogheny Country Club, where she was also a former member. Helen is survived by children, Albert L. (Charlene) Voss, Jr. of Mims, FL and Donna (Steven) Phillips-Hurd of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren, Corey (Janelle) Voss, Kevin (Samantha) Voss, Teresa Edmiston, Joshua Phillips, Stephanie Phillips and Brittany Phillips; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Audrina and Brynn Voss, and Luke, Caleb and Ashley Edmiston; also many nieces and nephews. Veronica “Vern” Frederick, age 88 of McKeesport, passed away at home on February 24, 2017.  Born September 4, 1928 in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Anna (Wise) Fiugalski and wife of the late John “Jack” Frederick.  Vern was dedicated to the St. Mary Czestochowa Church, now Corpus Christi Parish and was a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers and Ladies Guild.  She loved to cook for her family and care for her children and grandchildren.  She is survived by her sons David and Daniel Frederick; 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and sister, Audrey Decorte; also many nieces and nephews and her care giver, Jessica Gosnell. In addition to her parents and husband, Veronica was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Miller; son, Dennis Frederick; brother, Louis Wise and nephew, Robert Wise.  Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday February 27, 2017 from 2-8 p.m.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday February 28, 2017, 10 a.m., at Corpus Christi Church.  Fr. Ralph A. Criscito, age 68 of Irwin, passed away on February 17, 2017 at his home. Born December 20, 1948 in McKeesport, he was the son of Olga Janiel Criscito and the late Anthony R. Criscito. Ralph honorably served in the US Army during the Vietnam War with the 173rd Airborne. Following his military service, he began working as a draftsman for Westinghouse Transportation Division and later for AEG Transportation. He most recently worked as a shipping clerk for Bombardier, having retired after many years of service. He was a member of the Irwin VFW where he enjoyed spending time with his fellow veterans, however his greatest joy was the time shared with his family. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his son, Jeffrey Criscito of Irwin; granddaughter, Mia Rosa Criscito; sisters, Kathy Reichardt of Marietta, OH, Cindy Mosqueda of Confluence and Sandy Matthews of North Huntingdon; and many nieces and nephews. Mabel J. Lippert, age 96 of North Huntingdon, formerly of White Oak, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2017 at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital. Born April 9, 1920 in Glassport, she was the daughter of the late William and Edith Mae (Houston) Simpson, and loving wife of the late Leonard G. Lippert. Mabel was a member of the Sampson's Mills Presbyterian Church along with the White Oak Women's Club, the White Oak AARP #2294, and former member of the McKeesport Women's Club. In her free time, she enjoyed traveling the world with her husband, especially trips to St. Petersburg and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Rich) Collier of North Huntingdon and Carol (the late Arthur, Jr.) Andrews of South Carolina; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, William and Clyde Simpson; and sister, Edith Rosback. Margaret L. Babyak, age 91, of White Oak died on February 20, 2017 at John J. Kane Regional Center. Born August 14, 1925 in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late John and Ann (Junecko) Haynick and the wife of the late Michael Babyak. Margaret was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. She was also a member of AARP 2911. She loved trips to the mountains, long drives and traveling. Her greatest passion was sharing recipes from one of her many cooking books. Margaret is survived by her children, Michael A. (Jenny) Babyak of Somerset and Joyce A. (Alan) Goebel of McKeesport; grandchildren, Michele Babyak and Lynette (John) Schuetz of White Oak; great grandchildren Tyler and Brandon Schuetz; brothers, Ernest (Rose) Haynick of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl and Thomas (Helen Mundy) Haynick of Lewistown, PA; her loyal grand dogs, Shelby and Cooper; many nieces and  nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret is preceded in death by her brother Robert Haynick. June D. Kastronis, 70, of McKeesport, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017, at UPMC Shadyside. Born July 28, 1946, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Walter and June (Ravenscroft) Forsythe, and the wife of Christopher T. Kastronis, of McKeesport. June worked as a hair dresser in the West Mifflin area until retirement. She was a member of the White Oak American Legion Post 701, Punxsutawney Eagles, Moose Lodge 954 and the Wallston Club in Punxsutawney. She had a passion for going fishing and will always be remembered by her family as the best cook ever. June especially loved her grandchildren and will always be watching over their activities and events. In addition to her husband, June is survived by children, Christopher T. (Amy) Kastronis Jr., of North Huntingdon, Daniel (Melissa) Kastronis, of Elizabeth, and Jarett Kastronis, of McKeesport; grandchildren, Genna, Conan and Chloe; sister, Marjorie (Tex) McIntyre, of Carnegie; brother, Richard Forsythe, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by siblings, Walter, Mabel and her twin, James Forsythe. Frank was a retired self-employed excavator and in his early years he was owner operator of Mon-Yough Paving Co. He was a member of Corpus Christi Church. Frank enjoyed hunting and Pittsburgh Steelers football. Frank’s true passion was working the fields of his family farm and he loved spending time with his family. He is survived by children, Frank L. (Thoris) Szczerba, Jr. of Belle Vernon, George C. (Barbara) Szczerba of Belle Vernon, Lory (James) Worthington of Belle Vernon, Gary J. (Lisa) Szczerba of Sutersville and Karen (Raymond) Ott of Belle Vernon; step-children, Jake (Deborah) Warren of Mt. Lebanon and Judy Mann of Dublin, VA; 11 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Patricia M. "Patty" Moss, age 63 of Elizabeth Twp., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, February 15, 2017. Born December 19, 1953 in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Chester and Sylvia (Cegelski) Skibinski, and loving wife of the late John S. Moss. Patty was the Vice President and Manager for PNC Bank in McKeesport for 33 years, where she was a friendly and familiar face to all of those in the community. In her free time, she enjoyed taking trips to the casino, going to craft shows, playing bingo and visiting Deep Creek Lake. Most importantly, she loved the time that was spent with her children and grandchildren. She had a special way of making memories with her family that will always be cherished. She is survived by her daughters, Beverly "Bev" (Shawn) Patterson of Bethel Park and Melissa "Missy" (Ryan) Pokorny of Jefferson Hills; grandchildren, Ryan Rae, Jacob John, Logan Alexander, Olivia "Livi" Paige and Alexis "Lexi" Noelle; siblings, Carol (Robert) Lovas, Donna (Charles) Elyes and Michael Skibinski; mother-in-law, Helen (the late Samuel) Moss; her beloved fur-grandbaby, Nittany; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and extended family.
