David N. Byers, 67, of Larimer, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2020 in UPMC Passavant Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born March 23, 1953 in McKeesport, son of Mary Jane (Thomas) Byers and the late Earl Byers. David was a graduate of Norwin Senior High School and prior to his retirement was a truck driver. He enjoyed woodworking and loved riding his motorcycle. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Donna Baker. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Lenore Taylor Byers; sons, Adam (Michele) Byers and Raymond Byers; daughter, Manda Kluegel; brother, Kevin (Mary Ruth) Byers; sister, Lori (Bill) Higginbotham; grandchildren, Brittany, Callie, Connor, Luke, Nevaeh and Jaxson. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA. Rylan Joseph Gallagher, 8 months old, passed away on August 15, 2020 at 10:17 p.m. in Children's Hospital, Pittsburgh. Rylan was a very loving happy child and brought joy to many who loved him and he will be immensely missed. Rylan was preceded in death by his sister, Amyrah Gallagher; and aunt, Pamela Sue White. He is survived by his mother, Nicole White; father, Joseph Estrada Gallagher; maternal grandparents, Paul D. Kenneth A. Shipes, 71, of Claridge, passed away Monday, August 17, 2020 in Family
Hospice at Canterbury Place, Pittsburgh. He was born December 26, 1948 in Jamestown,
New York, son of the late Pauline Dietrick Shipes. Prior to his retirement, Kenneth
worked as a subcontractor for Westinghouse Nuclear but was better known as a
proprietor of restaurants and lounges including the SenSim in Norwin Towne Square.
Ken was a classic car enthusiast, Harley Davidson rider and an avid Pittsburgh sports fan.
He is survived by his wife, Laurel Humbert; daughters, Paula (Scott) Ohler, Karen
(Adam) Dimeo; brother, Joseph (Gloria) Smith; grandchildren, C.J. (Leighanne)

June Johnston Hinkle, 89, of North Huntingdon, passed away Friday, August 14, 2020 at Kelly's Personal Care Home, Greensburg. She was born in Harrisonburg, VA, a daughter of the late Robert Boyd and Kate (Arborgast) Johnston. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harman "Clyde" Hinkle. June is survived by her children, Richard Hinkle and Wylene Hinkle, three grandchildren and one great grandchild. June was a full-time Mom, an accomplished braille transcriber, a talented quilter, and an avid baker. Many will miss her ginger cookies. She loved animals and adopted several stray cats. Many have been inspired by her care-giving. June spent the first two decades of her life in Riverton and Circleville. She graduated from Circleville High School in 1947. It was in her high school English class that she discovered a love of books and became a prolific reader, especially mysteries. After moving from West Virginia, she and her husband, Clyde, spent so many weekends in West Virginia that I knew the way to Grandma's house better than the way to school. She will be buried in the North Fork Cemetery next to her husband. Services are private. Arrangements were made by the James W. Dale T. Watson, 94, of North Huntingdon, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at his home. He was born May 14, 1926 in Irwin, a son of the late Charles B. and Theresa L. (Thornton) Watson. Prior to his retirement, Dale worked as a lab technician for WABCO and was a veteran of the US Navy having served during WWII. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Larimer, and enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and watching old westerns on TV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gary Watson; son-in-law, William Gault; and brother, Wayne (Janet) Watson. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Rose (Price) Watson; daughter, Donna Gault; grandchildren, Stacey Valenta and Cale Watson; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Benjamin Watson and Sydney Rose Valenta. Earl J. McElhinny, age 87 of Buena Vista, Pa died August 8, 2020 in Mercy Hospital. He was born May 30,1933 in McKeesport, Pa., a son of the late James and Elizabeth Griffin McElhinny. Earl was the owner/operator of McElhinny Barns and Landscaping. He was a member of the Holy Family Church in West Newton where he sang in the church choir, and helped at spaghetti dinners. He enjoyed attending Steeler camps. Earl was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during Korea. He was preceded in death by his son, Larry and one brother James. He is survived by his daughter, Lori Pappalardo (Christopher), sister in law, Pat McElhinny, three sisters, Sister Betty McElhinny ( Sister Elizabeth), Sister Mary Theresa McElhinny (Sister Vivian), Florence Kane, daughter in law, Julie McElhinny, 6 grandchildren, Justin, Eric Brandon, Bryce, Danny and Josh, along with nieces and nephews.

Prior to his retirement, he was a control operator for Duquesne Light and a veteran of the US Army. He was an avid bowler, Pittsburgh sports fan, and ran & finished 11 Pittsburgh Marathons. Willis F. O'Neil Jr. went to be with the Lord on July 30,2020. Willis was born on December 7, 1929 in Pricedale, Pa. He was the eldest son of the late Willis and Leona (Simon) O'Neil. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for 38 years by General Motors Fisher Body and was a member of Local Union 544. Willis was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, the FCLSA SO77 of McKeesport, Irwin Moose Lodge 293 and a fifty year member of the FM&A Polaris Lodge. He was also a member of the Model A Restorer's Club, an avid traveler, camper and hunter. He enjoyed model trains, model planes and antique cars. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Beverly; his brother, Edwin Lee; sister, Kay Otley; and his daughter Lee Ann Gramus. He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years and best friend, Mary Anne O'Neil; a son, Geary Lee O'Neil; two grandsons, several nieces, nephews and his canine companions Danny Boy and Miss Poppy. Private services were held at the Belle Vernon Cemetery with Chaplain Tony Richardson-Eckers from the Allegheny Health Network officiating. Charles Wilbur Hershey, age 91 of North Huntingdon died July 29, 2020 at his home. He was born July 28, 1929 in Madison County, Indiana, a son of the late Charles Danford and Minnie Mabel (King) Hershey. He was preceded in death by his wife Verona Zofchak Hershey; brothers, George Danford Hershey and Edward King Hershey. He is survived by a sister Martha Hershey Raugh; nephews, nieces, and countless cousins. He served with the Army Security Agency, which is now under the National Security Agency. He was stationed in the Philippines during the Korean War, and was a longtime member of the American Legion. Charles was an avid genealogist and the Hershey family historian, and loved fishing and reading. He was retired from US Steel Irvin Works and a longtime member of The Lutheran Church of Our Saviour in N. Huntingdon, where he and his wife had been active in the youth program. Laurie A. Rinkes, 69, of North Huntingdon, passed away on July 28, 2020 at the William Penn Care Center, Penn Township. She was born May 5, 1951, to the late Thomas J. Logan Jr. and Lorraine McKinley Logan in Cincinnati, OH. She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Richard Rinkes.
She is survived by her two sons, Daniel and his wife Katherine “Katie”, of Frederick, MD, Brian, and his wife Alicia, of North Huntingdon; adoring grandchildren Nathan, Aubrey, Julia, and Emilia; two brothers, Thomas J. Logan III of Worcester, MA, Xavier Logan of Redondo Beach, CA; and sister, Colleen Elles and her husband Ed Elles of Ardmore, OK.
While her children were school age, Laurie was a tireless volunteer at St. Agnes School, serving as a teacher’s assistant, cafeteria worker, playground monitor and librarian. Subsequently, she moved on to a career as a purchasing agent for a local company, and continued to volunteer at the St. Agnes/St. Vincent DePaul Society food bank. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, in Irwin. In recent years, her grandchildren, who called her “Gigi”, were her passion. She continued to support charities that were close to her heart.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Friday at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Immaculate Conception Church with Father John Moineau as celebrant. Interment in Immaculate Conception Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Vincent DePaul Food Bank or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Emma Jean Pilipovich, 94, of North Huntingdon, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2020. She was born October 13, 1925 in Irwin, a daughter of the late Earl and Elizabeth (Bender) Gongaware. Emma Jean was a former member of the Norwin Art League, was an avid seamstress and loved to read. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Pilipovich; son, Jack Proctor; brothers, James and Earl "Butch" Gongaware; and sisters, Helen Humphries and Eileen Plesniak. She is survived by her son, George Pilipovich and his wife, Cindy; daughters, Penny Pilipovich and her fiance, Bob Campbell, Marcy Burgess and her husband, Jim; daughter-in-law, Linda Proctor; and two grandchildren, Pam Pilipovich and A.J.
