Patricia A. Macik, 80, of White Oak, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2021. She was born January 3, 1941 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Michael "Mickey" and Katherine (Maysak) Macik. Patricia was a 1958 graduate of McKeesport High School and 1962 graduate of California State Teachers College. She was an English Teacher at Elizabeth Forward High School. She retired after many wonderful years of teaching many great students, who occupy valuable roles in our communities today. She also cared for her mother, father, and uncle in their senior years.

Harry Edward "Whitey" Niedzwecki, 86, of Confluence, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021. He was born January 13, 1935 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Adam A. "Tony" and Helen M. (Walbaum) Niedzwecki. He was the husband of the late Patricia Ann (Mains) Niedzwecki, who passed away May 24, 2004. Whitey worked for 40 years for Bettis Atomic Laboratory in West Mifflin. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, who loved and lived at his cabin on the Yough Lake in Confluence, PA. He enjoyed his beer and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins fan.

David L. Cant, 75, of McKeesport, passed away, Sunday, February 7, 2021. He was born July 10, 1945 in Elizabeth Township and was the son of the late Robert John and Alice Mae (Ludwick) Cant. David was a US Army Veteran and worked for 37 years for Vista Metals. He was an avid hunter and golfer. He golfed with a league every week and enjoyed hunting in the Clarion County area. David and his wife Janet have a camp in Mountain Pines that they would visit every weekend and they also enjoyed visiting Deep Creek, MD. He was a hockey fan and loved attending his grandchildren's games.

Stephen J. "Bud" Columbus, 88, of New Eagle, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021. He was born in Monongahela, March 21, 1932 and was the son of the late Stephen and Mary (Todd) Columbus. Stephen worked at Monongahela Ford as a parts manager and at Davies & Tregembo Ford in Charleroi as a car and snowmobile salesman. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, as he also used to race cars back in the 1950's.
He enjoyed watching college football, playing Euchre, hunting, golfing, bowling, being outdoors and was active in a senior softball league in Ocala, FL. He is survived by his grandson, Jacob Columbus, of California, PA, daughter-in-law, Kathi Columbus, of Eighty-Four, sister-in-law, Hannah Jane Columbus, of Bethel Park, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sons, Stephen and Robert Columbus, brothers, Frank (Dorothy) Columbus, and Russell Columbus, sister, Eleanor (Lin) Dalton, longtime companion, Dolores Cheroki of Monesson, and former wife, Catherine Steinmetz.

Anton “Carry” van Tol, 77, of Sebastian, Fl, formerly of Elizabeth Township, passed away Monday, February 1, 2021 after a courageous 10 year battle with cancer. He has resided in Sebastian for the past 5 years. He was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands January 11, 1944 and was the son of the late Antoon and Wilhelmina van Tol. He is survived by his wife of over 55 years Nora (Bloom) van Tol, daughter Christine van Tol of Versailles, grandchildren Colleen Mence (Matthew) of Wilson and Keith Mence of Versailles, great grandchildren: Erik, Denver and Nora, brother Rene (Debbie) van Tol of Round Rock TX and sister Ingrid (Bill) Hailer of West Virginia. Carry was the co proprietor of the former Highland Meadows Auto Service in Elizabeth Township before retiring to Florida. While living in Elizabeth Township for 45 years, he served as past president of the Rotary Club of Elizabeth and was a member of the Mason’s Duquesne McKeesport Lodge # 731. He was also known for lending a hand and humor when needed. There is no visitation. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.

Brenda Jean Lucas, 69, of Greenock, passed away on Wednesday January 27, 2021 in UPMC McKeesport Hospital. She was born August 3, 1951 in McKeesport and grew up in Elizabeth Township and was the daughter of the late John and Sarah (Lynch) Lucas. Brenda was retired from Mayview State Hospital where she worked as a Registered Nurse for 28 years. Previous to this she worked as a cashier at Shop n Save in Olympia Shopping Center. Brenda loved to travel and especially enjoyed her trips to Hawaii. She was also an artist who enjoyed working in water colors and oil paints and also creating antique furniture. Brenda loved all animals and along with her own pets cared for many strays at her own expense. Thankfully, she was a frequent lottery winner and was very generous with all she knew. She also donated to any organization pertaining to the care of animals such as the ASPCA and Humane Societies.

Frank was a Commercial Artist, working as a photo retoucher for catalogs and advertisements as his profession, as well as oil painting for his own enjoyment. He was a do-it-yourself man who could fix or build just about anything and spent many hours tinkering in his workshop. Aside from his family, his greatest loves were his dogs and horses. She was the wife of the late John W. Swant and the late George J. Petrina. Mary was a member of Mary, Mother of God -St. Patrick Church worship site, where she was a member of The Christian Mothers and worked as an LPN for 20 years at McKeesport Hospital and following her retirement worked as a caregiver for 20 years. She loved polka and baking and was known for her nut rolls. She was a political activist and enjoyed her Ipad and the internet. But most importantly, Mary loved her family.
