Elizabeth "Betty" Morrison, 98, of Eighty Four, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2023 at home. She was born September 6, 1924 in Philadelphia and was the daughter of the late Frank and Vina (Voss) Yeager. She was the wife of the late Robert M. Morrison, who passed away January 26, 2000. Betty worked for many years in sales at Troutman's, and Bon Ton and would also work for United Engineering. She enjoyed flower gardening and feeding the birds. Betty was a member of The Arbor Day Foundation and The Audubon Aviary. She was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed.

Nancy Zumbro South, 91, of North Huntingdon, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 1, 2023 after suffering a brief illness at Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh. Nancy was born on July 20, 1932 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Andrews and Helen (Wendell) Zumbro. She was the wife of the late James South who passed away February 17, 2014. She was a graduate of McKeesport High School and worked for the Aluminum Company of America for 7 years. Nancy was a lifelong member, Deaconess and Sunday School Teacher at Park Baptist Church. She was also a long time member of the DAR (Daughters of American Revolution), the McKeesport Symphony Society, the National Secretary Association, and an Honorary Penn State Alumnus. Nancy worked for many years at H.B. South Printing alongside her husband, Jim. She was a pillar of her church, active in the community and a beloved mother and grandmother. In her spare time she enjoyed being a seamstress and playing tennis, and had a great love for traveling. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Marcia South Klein who passed away September 27, 2021. She is survived by sons Mark James South (Ann Davis South), Marlin Joseph South (Maura Momich South), son-in-law Phil Klein, grandchildren Julia and Noah South, and beloved dog Zoey. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Marlene Mary Boyd, 85, of North Huntingdon, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2023 at home. She was born February 28, 1938 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late John and Pauline (Rack) Koval. She was the wife of the late Edgar Clare Boyd who passed away January 6, 2016. Diana Louise Rager, 74, of Turtle Creek, passed away Thursday August 31, 2023 at home. She was born November 4, 1948 in Pittsburgh and was the daughter of the late Robert Chester and Vesta Ann (Maxwell) Ashcroft. She was wife of the late Kenneth Raymond Rager, Sr., who passed away in 1995. Diana obtained her Associates Degree to become a Pharmacy Technician from CCAC and went on to work as a Pharmacy Technician for the former Medicine Shoppe in McKeesport for over 20 years and then went on to work for 17 years as a Pharmacy Technician Supervisor for United Healthcare until her retirement in 2019. She was also a member of the former Kephart Church in McKeesport. She had previously trained and was a Boy Scout leader and ran the junior bowling program at the former White Oak Bowling Alley. She was a devoted grandmother and will be greatly missed.

First born of the late Clyde “Andrew” and Dorothy (Robertson) Lynch, Mike Lynch Sr. of Pitcairn, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2023.
Mike fell in love at first sight at age 9 with a curly red-headed girl. At age 18, he married that love, Laura M. Lynch, and started his family. He proudly served in The United States Army. He went on to work for 35 years at The Chelsea Building Products as a master technician. Proud, humble, with a twinkle of mischief in his Irish eyes encompassed who he was. He loved his family, NASCAR, the Steelers and Notre Dame Football.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Laura; sons, Michael (Christina) Lynch, Jr., and Keith (Jill) Lynch; daughter, Karie Lynch; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Lynch; and numerous “honorary” kids from the neighborhood.
Proud grandfather of 6 and great-grandfather of 6 more. He is also survived by his brothers, Danny Lynch and John (Tammy) Lynch; sisters, Theresa Cosgrove, Ruth (Stephen) McCulley and Leecinda (David) Liller; sisters-in law, Fran (Clay) Gross, Joyce Whipkey, and Patricia Ray; brother-in-law, Paul (Lynn) Ray and many many nieces and nephews.

Robert "Bob" Carr, 75, of Elizabeth Township, passed away at home on Wednesday, August 22, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 19, 1947 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Robert T. and Lois I. (Bond) Carr. Bob was a member of the Mount Vernon Community United Presbyterian Church. He retired after 43 years from Vista Metals as Plant Manager and was a US Army Veteran. Bob loved his grandkids, enjoyed sports cars, boating, golfing with his buddies and spending time in the mountains at Hidden Valley.

John Robert Stefl, 89, of Elizabeth Township, passed into eternal life on August 21, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 5, 1933 in Mt. Pleasant and was the son of the late Rudolph Albert and Mary C. (Klamar) Stefl. John started his career with 28 years at Fort Pitt Steel in McKeesport working in maintenance, where he served as both Vice President and Union Steward. After closure of the plant, he worked in construction until retirement. With his wife, he delivered Meals on Wheels for Elizabeth Township for over 20 years; and for many years, he was able to provide his family, friends and Meals on Wheels clients with vegetables from his prolific vegetable garden.

George Darwin Madar, 79, of Delmont, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2023. he was born July 24, 1944 in Madison, WI., and was the son of the late George and Yvonne (Hanson) Madar. George had worked for the former US Steel Homestead Works and had 19 1/2 years of service. He was a US Air Force Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. for his service, he received the Citations for Combat Defense Ribbon, Expert Gun Ribbon, Good Conduct and Longevity. He served from 1963 to 1967 and was stationed in Turkey and Grand Forks Air Force Base.

Carla Gene Harper, 63, of Dravosburg, formerly of McKeesport, passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. She was born in McKeesport on January 19, 1960 and is daughter of the late Robert and Beatrice (Roll) Harper. She is a graduate of McKeesport Area High School. Carla was known for her generosity and big heart, and a talented cook who never used a recipe but could prepare a gourmet meal in minutes. She was a shy young lady who later in life could walk into a room of strangers and leave with a new friend. She was very well liked and respected by anyone she met or knew over the years. She enjoyed an occasional ride on the Harley Davidson, a good glass of wine, and trips to Las Vegas; but more than anything, she cherished every moment spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, Savia, Rylee, Khyzer, and Ahrenzo. Grandma (Nene) was the title she was most proud of. Carla is survived by her life partner Mark Golya, daughters, Christina Harper and Stephanie'e (Zachary Williams) Golya, sister Bonnie (John) Miller, and many nieces and nephews who she adored. She is now reunited with her mother, Beatrice Harper, and brothers, Robert Harper and Arthur (Jack) Harper. Carla has requested to have no visitation. John P. Lucas, Jr., 87, of Elizabeth Township, formerly of Forest Hills, passed away Friday, August 11, 2023. He was born in Wilkinsburg on July 10, 1936 and was the son of the late John P. Lucas, Sr., and the late Cecilia “Tillie” (Luketich) Lucas. He was the husband of 60 years of the late Colleen (Karabin) Lucas before her passing on January 3, 2018. He was a graduate of Wilkinsburg High School and was a US Army Private First Class from 1956-1958. He worked as a technician for Westinghouse, Waltz Mill site for almost 30 years, and also serviced nuclear reactors in Europe and Asia. Prior to Westinghouse, John worked as a carpenter and throughout his life could design and build just about anything. John was a volunteer firefighter with the Greenock Volunteer Fire Dept., and with the Waltz Mill Fire Dept. for many years. He was also a long time member of the Croatian Fraternal Union, and the White Oak American Legion Post #701. An avid golfer, John also liked to spend his time camping and fishing.
