R. Shirley (Cortese) Masi, age 85, of North Versailles, PA, went to be with her Lord and Savior after a short battle with cancer. She died at home, surrounded by loving family on Wednesday, April 15, 2020. Born and raised in Braddock, she married the late Thomas Masi. They raised their family in North Versailles, where she was an active member of the community for nearly six decades.
She was a devoted member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church (now Mary, Mother of God Parish) in East McKeesport for 59 years; she was a lunch lady volunteer at her children’s grade school; she was an enthusiastic volunteer to get meals to her food-insecure neighbors through both Meals on Wheels and most recently Ma’s Pantry; she joined and was affiliated with several groups, including Christian Mothers, the Wilmerding YMCA, Suddenly Single, and the East Allegheny chapter of AARP. Her many communities made for many long and cherished friendships.

E. Ralph Rosensteel, Jr., age 94 of North Versailles, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2020. He was born July 6, 1925 in Braddock, the son of the late Elmer and Helen Rosensteel. He was a long-time member of the All Souls Episcopal Church in North Versailles and was a past member of the VFW in East McKeesport. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II and became a mechanist at the Edgar Thomson Works before going to work for more than 30 years in engineering for Westinghouse in East Pittsburgh before retiring.

Jane C. Earnest, 99, a resident of Redstone Highlands, North Huntingdon, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2020. She was born during the Spanish Flu pandemic in 1920 and died during the current Corona Virus pandemic in 2020. She wasn’t called Calamity Jane for nothing! Also known as Grandma Honeybunch, and GG (Great Grandma), she lit up a room upon entering and, if she wasn’t playing the piano for all to sing along, she was letting everyone know how much she enjoyed them. Jane’s favorite pastimes besides music were the Steelers, Pirates and Penguins and playing bridge. Her true love was her husband, John, and the rest of her family.

Ronald F. Sokolowski, age 86, of North Versailles, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2020. He was born November 18, 1933 in McKeesport, the son of the late Frank and Ethel Sokolowski. He was a Marine that served in Korea and went onto work for over 35 years as a mechanic in the locomotive shop at US Steel in Braddock before retiring. Ronald enjoyed spending time at the Polish Club in McKeesport. He is survived by his children. Services are private.

Barbara A. Gonzales, 75, of McKeesport, died Friday, March 27, 2020, in UPMC McKeesport Hospital. She was born April 13, 1944 in Braddock the daughter of the late Emil and Ann Morgan Kahlan. C. Gary Dinsel, 76, of North Huntingdon, passed away Friday March 27, 2020 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital as a result of complications from open heart surgery. He was born October 14, 1943 in Altoona, PA, a son of the late Charles A. and Ruth M. (Burger) Dinsel. Gary was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting and was a licensed CPA.
He formerly owned Extrude Hone Corporation, North Huntingdon, and was a partner/owner of Greensburg Country Club. He also had served in the Army Reserves as a field medic for several years. He was a very active member of Circleville United Methodist Church, where he served on the pastoral counsel and finance committee, having been a past chairman of both groups.
He was also a longtime active member and past president of Norwin Rotary, a former board member of the Norwin Area Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Pitt Alumni Association, and a member of the Workforce Investment Board Westmoreland/Fayette County Economic Growth Connection.

Jody E. (Jasper) Brunecz, 58, of North Huntingdon, died Monday, March 16, 2020. She was born January 7, 1962 in Jeannette, a daughter of Doris J (Graybrook) Jasper of Irwin and the late Lee R. Jasper. Jody was a graduate of Norwin High School class of 1980 and was a former administrative assistant. She recently enjoyed briefly working at the Norwin Community Center.
She was a member of First United Church of Christ, Irwin, where she served as a Deacon, a choir member, and a former Sunday School teacher. She loved camping and vacationing at the beach. She also was very interested in and had learned sign language.

Frank J. Maringo, age 97, of North Versailles, passed away Friday, February 21, 2020. He was born January 4, 1923 in Monroeville, a son of the late John and Grace Maringo. He was a member of Mary Mother of God Parish, formerly known as St. Robert Bellarmine Church in East McKeesport.
He was a proud Army veteran that served in World War II and went onto work as a draftsman for over 44 years at Westinghouse Electric in East Pittsburgh before retiring. He was past member of the Fire Department of North Versailles station 214, the 305th Bombardment Group Memorial Association, the American Legion in White Oak, the AARP Versailles Boro Chapter 2911 and the Golden Key Club.

George W. Blasko, age 89, of North Huntingdon Township, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2020. He was born February 3, 1931 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Andrew and Helen Blasko. He was a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Irwin, the Irwin Moose for over 52 years, and the Police Rod & Gun Club in New Alexandra. He worked for over 37 years at Penn State Tool and Die in Irwin before retiring. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing at the camp in Bedford. Susan L. (Norris) Filer, 68, of Pittsburgh, formerly of North Huntingdon, died Wednesday February 5, 2020. She was born May 15, 1951 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Lee and Jean (Calmus) Norris and was also preceded in death by a sister Pamela Mitall.
Susan was a caregiver in the healthcare field, but she devoted her life to raising her three children and, in recent years, “Grammy” delighted in helping to lovingly care for her five beautiful grandchildren. When not spending time with her family, she treasured time with numerous close friends, including card club, shared meals, and fun travels.
Whether family, friend, or stranger, Susan had a smile, warm hug, and kind word for every person who crossed her path. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Irwin.

Betty Jane (Hunt) Philipp, age 88, of North Versailles, passed away February 3, 2020. She was born October 22, 1931 in Patton Township, a daughter of the late James and Luella Hunt. She was a long-time member of Linway United Presbyterian Church in North Versailles.
She enjoyed watching the Steelers, Penguins, and Pitt football, as well as going to bingo and dinners at the Ride and Hunt Club in North Huntingdon.
She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren and family dogs.
