Crystal Lynn Madison Johnson of McKeesport PA formerly of Belle Vernon PA passed away on January 30, 2025, at 45. Crystal was born on February 9, 1997, in Monongahela, Pennsylvania. She was born to Iris Smith Madison of McKeesport and Norman Madison Jr. of Michigan. She was one of two children.
Crystal was a graduate of Belle Vernon High School in 1997. She went off to further her education at Bradford School of Business in Pittsburgh PA. where she obtained her business management degree in 1999. After getting her degree, Crystal managed Dollar General in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania. She’s then moved on to McKeesport beer barrel where she managed for numerous years. In that process, Crystal showed her love and devotion to many in the McKeesport community where she was very well-loved. Crystal was also employed with a touch above the rest, cleaning company proceeding her death.

Ernest R. Oatneal, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, departed this life on January 12, 2025. Born on June 29, 1947, in West Newton, Pennsylvania, Ernest was the cherished son of Daniel Grady Oatneal and Elizabeth Oatneal. He lived a life filled with purpose, love, and unwavering dedication. He served his country honorably as a member of the Army in Vietnam, embodying courage, integrity, and a deep sense of duty.
Ernest’s charismatic personality lit up every room he entered, making him the life of every gathering. He had a remarkable ability to connect with people, bringing laughter, warmth, and joy wherever he went. His charm was matched only by his generosity, and he had a gift for making everyone feel valued and loved. His family and friends will always remember his ability to bring laughter, warmth, and unwavering support into their lives.
A man of simple joys and profound wisdom, Ernest found happiness in storytelling, spending time with family, and community work. He dedicated himself wholeheartedly to his family and community, leaving a legacy of care and devotion that will be carried on by those who were blessed to know him.
He retired from the VA Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where his hard work and dedication touched countless lives. His wisdom, humor, and endless love made him the cornerstone of his family and a treasured friend to all who knew him.
Ernest is survived by his loving wife, Gloria Oatneal; his children Corey Whindleton and wife Michelle, Wade Whindleton and wife Candace, Shannon Green, Eugene Brown and wife; his brother Harry Oatneal and his wife Patricia; his sister Josephine Oatneal Scott; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many, many friends.
He was preceded in death by his siblings Florence Oatneal-Parris, Grady Edward Oatneal, Richard Oatneal, Etta Oatneal, Juanita Oatneal-Turner, and Stanford Lee Oatneal, who now welcome him into eternal peace.
Ernest’s legacy of love and laughter will forever remain in the hearts of those who cherished him. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered.
A devoted man of God, Ernest’s life was guided by the comforting words of Scripture. As we celebrate his remarkable journey, we find peace in the promise of Psalm 23:6:
“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

Sheila Diane Johnson, affectionately known as “She She” to her beloved grandchildren, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024, at the age of 80. Born on December 3, 1944, in McKeesport, Pennsylvania, Sheila was the cherished daughter of the late Hays and Ruth Caldwell.
Sheila grew up in Clairton, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Clairton High School before she trained as a computer operator. She went on to work at UPMC in Pittsburgh PA, where she proudly held a computer operator position until her retirement.
A woman of joy, style, and resilience, Sheila loved dancing, dressing up, and spending nights out with friends. Known for her sharp wit and straight-shooting advice, Sheila was the confidant and spiritual guide many turned to in difficult times. Her faith and wisdom were embodied in her favorite sayings, such as “God helps those who help themselves” and “Chuuuch,” phrases that remain etched in the hearts of all who knew her.

Minetta Alyse Scott, 72, of McKeesport, was born January 6, 1952, in Duquesne, PA. She was the beloved daughter of the late Luther and Beatrice (Jeffries) Daviston.
Minetta attended and graduated from Duquesne High School. Minetta worked as a caregiver in a daycare center.
Minetta enjoys walking, loves to cook for her family, and plays games on her tablet.

Algie Washington Daniels, 95, formally of Duquesne, Pennsylvania, departed this life peacefully on January 6, 2025, at Kane Community Living Center of McKeesport, PA.
Born May 15, 1929, in Buffalo Junction, Virginia to the late James Elmore and Betty (Spencer) Daniels.
He was a graduate of the Duquesne High School Class of 1949. Following graduation, he worked for the United States Steel Duquesne Works until the corporation closed in 1984.
Algie was a family man, he loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and his nieces and nephews.

Charles Earl Fitzgerald III was born to Charles Earl Fitzgerald Jr and Lydia Daniels on October 11, 1962. He departed this earthly life on Saturday, December 28, 2024.
Charles graduated from Falcon High School (now Woodland Hills High School) where he wrestled and boxed. He attended California University of Pennsylvania with an academic and athletic scholarship. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering. He loved his family wholeheartedly. He stood ten toes down for what was right. His sense of humor was the true definition of dad jokes. He had a gift of song that was like no other.
Charles was preceded in death by his Father Charles Earl Fitzgerald Jr, uncle Benjamin Bryant, and brother Danzell Smith.

Gerald Walton Christian, 65, of McKeesport, PA departed this earthly tabernacle on December 13, 2024. Born November 19, 1959, in McKeesport, PA. He was the son of the late Charles Clark and LaRelda Eileen Christian. Gerald was a 1977, graduate of McKeesport High School where he starred in three sports. Upon graduation, he attended New Mexico Highlands University and Marshall University on a football scholarship. Gerald was preceded in death by his father Charles Clark, aunts Annette Beulah Shark and Ada Younger, uncles Herbert Christian and Gary Christian. He is survived by his three sons Gerald Jr. (Collen) of Bel Air MD, Jeremy of Arlington VA, and Jason of Pittsburgh, PA; Four grandchildren, Blaise, Cruz, Maeze, and Jordan; his mother LaRelda E. Christian of White Oak, PA, sister Maureen D. Our hearts are heavy as we announce the passing of our mother, Mary Ethel (Shaw) Stone, 90 years old of McKeesport, Pennsylvania. Mary departed this life on Friday, December 13, at UPMC East with her family at her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, daughter, Rose Lynn Stone, and brother, Henry Harris.
Formerly of Clairton, Pennsylvania, she was born February 19, 1934 in Wadesboro, North Carolina. She was the beloved daughter of the late James Henry (Bully) Harris and the late Adelia Elizabeth Shaw. Mary’s mother passed when she was three years old, she was then raised by her grandparents, the late Diana and Charles Shaw. In September of 1942, her Uncle Junius Davenport sent for her grandmother and her, they arrived in McKeesport, by train, met by a complete stranger who transported them to Clairton where she grew up. She married the late William Delmar (Dale) Stone on May 24, 1952.
Mary was very proud of her Clairton High School diploma. She was a stay at home mother, raising her two children until she became employed as a nutritionist at the former McKeesport Hospital. Mary enjoyed learning and was an avid reader.

Audrey Louise Hamlin, 77, was born on November 23, 1946, the daughter of the late Richard Henry Sr, and the late Dorothy Baker. She was the eldest daughter among a large family of 9 children. She departed this life on November 15, 2024. Audrey grew up in McKeesport, Pennsylvania.
Audrey was a high honor graduate of McKeesport High School in 1964 and married Kenneth Hamlin, whom she’d met at a dance at the Palisades in McKeesport a year prior, later that same year. Their marriage spanned nearly 60 years. They welcomed their first child in 1965. Audrey worked at Fisher Scientific for a few years and was a dedicated homemaker for 27 years. Later, she decided to return to school to pursue nursing. She enrolled at the Community College of Allegheny County and upon graduation began her nursing career at Wightman Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Squirrel Hill. Later she worked at HCR Manor Care in Baldwin until her retirement in 2012. Being a nurse was right in line with Audrey’s selfless, loving, and caring nature. Although she enjoyed being a nurse, nothing gave her more pleasure than being around her family.

Damon M. Myers, 61, of McKeesport, was born December 29, 1962, in McKeesport, PA. He was the beloved son of the late Jameel Muslim known as James Arthur Myers and Vernell West Myers-Stewart.
Damon departed this life surrounded by his family on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at VA Pittsburgh Health Care System in Oakland, PA.
Damon was a 1981 graduate of McKeesport High School, shortly after that he enlisted with the United States Air Force. Damon was disciplined when it came to employment. He was employed with the Pittsburgh Convention Center; he had several part-time jobs in addition to operating his own business as a restroom attendant at several establishments in the Pittsburgh area.
Anyone who knew Damon knows his love for family and there was never a dull moment when "Uncle Dae" was around. He also was an avid Steeler Fan.
He was preceded in death by his parent’s father, Jamee Muslim, mother, Vernell West Myers-Stewart, and stepfather, JD Stewart.
Damon is survived by his son, Rashon Gordon; stepmother Khalifah Muslim of Winder, GA, six sisters, Twanda of Austell, GA., April James of McKeesport, PA., Shannon of Conyers, GA., Sabrina (Antwan) of Peru Indiana, Indiah of Auburn, GA., and Aasiya of Lawrenceville, GA., three, brothers, James (Denise) of York, PA., Troy and Derek of Austell, GA., many nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Cecilia Elizabeth Crawford, 79, of Duquesne, was born on March 25, 1945, in Long Branch, New Jersey. She was the beloved daughter of the late Rudolph and Margurite Swain Accoo.
Cecilia peacefully departed this life, surrounded by her loved ones, on October 24, 2024, at AHN Jefferson Hospital in Jefferson Hills, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Crawford, her sister, Joann Accoo, and her grandson, Jamar Bethea.
Cecilia attended Long Branch Senior High School and continued her education in Early Childhood Education, eventually receiving her master's degree from Carlow University. Following her education, she embarked on a career in early childhood education. She was also an office manager for over 30 years.
One of Cecilia's most significant accomplishments was educating her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was a passionate bowler and became a Brunswick national champion. Additionally, she enjoyed challenging puzzles and arts and crafts.
Cecilia was an active member of Payne Chapel A.M.E. Church of Duquesne, PA., under the leadership of Rev. Samuel A. Harris, Jr., Pastor.
Cecilia will be cherished in her memory by her children, six daughters, Renee (Charles) Cochran, Theresa Bethea, Andrea Bethea, Asia Crawford, Jasmine Crawford, and Mary Crawford; two sons, Sean Johnson and Kali (April) Moore; 25 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Rudolph Accoo, along with nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

David LaRoyal Wilson, 91, of McKeesport, was born March 2, 1933, in Fitz Henry, PA. He was the beloved son of the late Floyd and Florence (Miller) Wilson.
David was raised in Fitz Henry, PA, and attended South Huntington High School. After which he served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He then worked at BFGoodrich in McKeesport and Dow Chemical in West Mifflin when he retired. After retirement, he could enjoy his favorite hobbies, Oldies and Doo-op dancing and the Pittsburgh Steelers, and create fond memories with his loving family and friends.
David went home to be with the Lord on October 14, 2024, while he resided at Kane Community Living Center in McKeesport, PA.

Daryl Juno Newby, 71, of Duquesne, was born January 10, 1953, in McKeesport, PA. She was the beloved daughter of the late Rester and Eula Stephens Smith. Daryl was the youngest of seven siblings.
Daryl departed this life on September 15, 2024, at Kane Community Living Center in McKeesport, PA. Her passing was exactly seven years later, the same day as the love of her life. This would be the completion of their beautiful love story.
Daryl attended school at the Duquesne School District where she graduated. She was employed at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in the Dietary Department, and she was a former member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Duquesne, PA. Daryl loved spending time with her family and will be deeply missed by them all.
