Robert A. Waters Funeral Home

Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | May 08, 2025

Monique Hardy was born on May 2, 1967, in Pittsburgh, PA. She was a native of the Hill district and was later raised in Detroit, Michigan. Monique relocated to Penn Hills, PA where she was raised by her Grandmother Sybil Hardy Butler.

Monique raised her children in Lancaster, S. C. before finally settling down in McKeesport, PA, where she peacefully found her way to Glory surrounded by her children and loved ones.

Monique was the oldest child of the late great Sharron (Sissy) Hardy and Roderick Pickett Sr. She was loved dearly and those who knew her all called her "MOE!” Monique received her education in the Pittsburgh Public School District. Moe was the most loving, caring lady walking this earth, it wasn't a soul she wouldn't help or a kid she wouldn't watch.

But we all know Moe didn’t play especially about her “chaps.” Moe always found a way to make time for the ones she loved. She would brighten any room with her smile. She had a laugh that could turn a bad day around. Monique really enjoyed spending quality time with her kids and grandkids and always found a way to make sure they stayed close even through the rough times.

Monique sudden departure from this earthly life on April 28, 2025, has left a void in all the hearts of the different community’s she has touched. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Sharon (Sissy) Hardy and Roderick Pickett, Sr., Grandparents, William and Sybil Hardy Butler Pittsburgh, PA; Eva (Meega) Perkins Detroit, MI; Aunt, Suzette Hardy Blackwell; Uncles, Andre (Poose) Butler and William (Billy) Butler.

Monique leaves to cherish her beautiful life and loving memory, her dedicated companion of 20+ years, Delray Simmons of McKeesport, PA., Her brother, Roderick Pickett (Baldy) of McKeesport, PA., Glen and Alan Miles & Sister, Annie (Tywon) Thomas all of Detroit, Ml., and her Sister-Cuz Stacey Hardy Carter of Turtle Creek, PA.,  Mama Moe is also survived by her seven kids, who are Adia Shealey, Shadia Shealey, Malakia Shealey, Breyanna Hardy-Shealey, James Crawford (Jr.), Calvin Crawford and Tiffany Crawford all of McKeesport, 27 Grandkids that she loved so dearly and 3 great grandchildren, and a host of cousins that she loved and friends who will greatly Miss Monique "Moe Dolla Is What They Holla!"
