June A. Halvorson McElravy, 95, of White Oak, passed away Sunday, January 14, 2024, in Mt. View Memory Care Home in Greensburg, PA. She was born June 12, 1928 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late John Halvorson, Sr. and Anna Widen Halvorson. She was the loving wife of Glenn McElravy, who passed away on September 18, 2006. She worked for Bell Telephone of PA in their McKeesport office. She was an earlier member of St. John Lutheran Church in McKeesport where she taught Sunday School. More recently she was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in White Oak where she helped with altar care and was involved with its woman's groups. June belonged to White Oak Chapter 2294 of the American Association of Retired Persons, Pioneers, Eastern Star and served as a volunteer in the gift shop of McKeesport Hospital.

Juanita Denise (Matuschek) Betters, 68, of North Huntingdon, formerly of Duquesne, precious daughter, cherished sister, beloved wife, devoted mother and joyful grandmother, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2024. Juanita was an avid reader who enjoyed her flower garden and cross stitching. Her true passion, that she shared with her husband was college basketball, better never bother her during March Madness!! One of her greatest loves were pug dogs. Her own dog "Sparky" brought her such happiness. Juanita was a graduate of Duquesne High School where she met her beloved husband, Vince. Having children, making a home in North Huntingdon and being close to family completed her dreams. Trips to Disney World with family made her very happy. Juanita was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Vince "Vinni" Betters and her father William "Bill" Matuschek.

Alice Mary Betzner, 88, of Greenock, passed away Friday, January 5, 2024. She was born  June 29, 1935 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Paul and Mary (Viszokai) Kalo. She was a member of Sts. Joachim and Anne Parish- St. Michael Church in Elizabeth Township. Alice grew up in Duquesne Place. She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoyed cooking and baking for everyone. She had previously worked for Macy's and Kaufman's in the former Century III Mall in West Mifflin.

William John "Bill" Greiner, 77, of Jefferson Hills passed away at home on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. He was born May 6, 1946 in McKeesport and was son to the late Joseph Julius and Lillian (Coddington) Greiner. Bill was a McKeesport High School graduate and served in the US Navy. He loved sports cars, and enjoyed volunteering his time to help his daughter create crafts for the vacation bible school at their church. In 1973, Bill built his & Maureen's house from the ground up using his beautiful woodworking skills. He also worked many years alongside Maureen as proprietors of WJ's Discount Pet Center.

William E. "Red" Stonebraker, 96, of Elizabeth Twp., passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at home. He was born June 7, 1927 in Butler and was the son of the late Gerald O. and Clarissa (Young) Stonebraker.  He was the husband of the late Dianne Louise (Krepps) Stonebraker, who passed away June 19, 2013.  Red was a US Navy Veteran serving during World War II.  He was a graduate of Grove City College and would go on to work for State Farm for 37 years, retiring as a claims superintendent.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed.

Harriet Darlene Sigmund, 82, of McKeesport passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023. She was born in Pittsburgh on May 3, 1941 and was the daughter of the late Pauline Hauber & Harry E. Sigmund and stepfather Leonard Hauber.

Harriet was a school bus operator for over 23 years, retiring from McKeesport Area School District then driving for First Student Transportation for Serra Catholic High School. Later she worked for Mercy Behavioral Health as a Medical Records Technician. She was a member of the former Sacred Heart Church and the Christian Mothers and was also a member of Teamster Local Union 205, the American Legion, and Croatian Fraternal Union - Lodge 146. Harriet loved her family, the beach, fishing, gardening, drawing, smoking, scrolling FB, driving, and dancing. She was creative, artistic, loved to bake and taking care of her greenhouse on her back deck.

Richard Paul "Rich" Sandin

Richard Paul "Rich" Sandin, 69, of McKeesport, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023. He was born January 1, 1954 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Ernest Sandin Sr.  and Grayce Ellen (Worrall) Sandin.  Rich was a United States Marine Veteran and served during the Vietnam Era.  Upon his return home from his military service he worked various jobs, including Phil's Automotive in Elizabeth, Giant Food Stores and most recently he worked as a Lawn Care Specialist for LawnPro. He was an avid fisherman who loved to catch and release at The Yough River with his late beloved dog, Buzz. Rich was a very smart and intelligent man who was a constant learner.  He will be greatly missed.  He is survived by his sisters, Kathie and Karen Sandin, both of Boston; uncle, David (Elena) Worrall of New Hampshire; nieces; nephews and cousins.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest "Ernie" Sandin, Jr. There is no visitation or services planned. James Andrew "Jim" Bodner, 65, of Elizabeth Township passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023. He was born in McKeesport on May 17, 1958 and was the son of the late Joseph Bodner, Sr., and the late Florence (Elco) Bodner. Jim was a Thomas Jefferson graduate and worked for 25+ years with Krebs Dodge managing the Parts Department. He is survived by his wife, Ruth A. (Cindric) Bodner; children, Lyle Atkins, Lisa (Joe) Gottuso, Lana (fiancee Chris Finch) Bodner, Lindsey (Michael) Cammarata, and Livia Bodner; brothers, Thomas (Chris) Bodner, and Robert (Donna) Bodner; sisters, Paula (Mike) Heaney, Monica Lininger, and Elaine (Steven) Maffei; close cousin, Deloris "Tessie" Dunbar; his beloved rescue dog, Bo Bodner; along with many other cousins, nieces & nephews. Mildred M. Farley, 98, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023. She was born in Library, PA on May 23, 1925 and was daughter to the late Robert and Nellie (McNaughton) Naser. She was the wife to the late Douglas M. Farley before his passing in December of 2000. Mildred was a long time member of St. Patrick's Church in McKeesport and was a part of the Christian Mothers, the Women's Guild, and the Sisters of Charity. She graduated with a Bachelors degree from Seton Hill University and became a Registered Dietitian, working many years at McKeesport Hospital in the Nutrition Department.

Eileen Komyanik, 65, of North Versailles, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023. She was born in McKeesport on October 3, 1958 and was the daughter to the late Michael A. and Genevieve L. (Callahan) Komyanik. Eileen worked many years as an Electrical Engineer for Carnegie Science Center, and worked on numerous projects throughout the building. She is survived by her siblings, Tony Ryan of Port Vue, Linda Komyanik of Whitaker, and Joyce Myers of Pittsburgh; her domestic partner, Valerie Tunney of North Versailles; and nieces, Tania Komyanik, and Lisa & Dawn Myers. Florence was a manger for Port Vue Super Dollar  and later Hickory Farms in Century III Mall . She was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance. She loved her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, where she would attend all their sporting events, keeping scores of all the games.

Richard John Tarsala, 76, of McKeesport, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, December 23, 2023. he was born March 27, 1947 in Braddock and was the son of the late John Andrew and Ruth (Nemanick) Tarsala. Richard was a member of First Evangelical Free Church, McKeesport, and strived to live his life by his favorite Bible verse, Galations 2:20. He retired from Ikon Office Solutions. He was a US Air Force Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing, playing Volleyball and Softball, and belonged to the Norwin Senior Softball association and Norwin Senior Volleyball & Basketball association. He loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events and performance's, and always taking them where they needed to be.

Michael J. "Mike" Rodgers. 57, of McKeesport, passed away Wednesday, December 20, 2023. He was born July 5, 1966 in McKeesport and is the son of Patricia (Arnold) Rodgers of McKeesport, and the late Mike Rodgers. Mike worked as a contractor many years, serving many local businesses with any painting & wall papering needs. He was also an incredible handyman - he could study the make and logistics of any project and be able to duplicate or fix whatever it was that needed fixed. In his free time, he enjoyed boating, riding motorcycles, but especially spending time with his grandsons. In addition to his mother, Mike is survived by his wife, Amy Jean (Elkin) Rodgers of Pittsburgh; daughter, Tiffany Marie Rodgers of McKeesport; son, Michael Paul Rodgers of McKeesport; grandsons, Brendon, Trenten, Kadin, Noah, and Eli; and his siblings, Dave Rodgers of McKeesport, Tommy Rodgers of McKeesport, and Kelly Rodgers-Schafer of Virginia Beach, VA; along with many nieces and nephews.
