Ronald J. McLaughlin, age 88, of White Oak, passed away on November 17, 2025, at the Hemsley House of McCandless (North Hills, PA). Born March 27, 1937, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late James and Clara (Kappler) McLaughlin and the husband of the late Jane Wilson McLaughlin.  Ronald graduated from McKeesport VoTech and proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, demonstrating his lifelong commitment to serving his country. Following his military service, he enjoyed a long and fulfilling career with U.S. Steel, where he worked in the research division. Known for his remarkable mechanical skills, Ronald could fix anything, earning him the admiration of many. Recognizing Ron's talents, lead engineers often requested that he accompany them into coal mines deep beneath the surface of the earth to detect, measure, and resolve noise pollution problems.  Throughout his life, Ronald was a man of diverse interests. In his younger years, he found joy on the tennis court; later in retirement, he transitioned to golf. He also cherished the time spent at the gun range with his sons, Timothy and Ronald, sharing laughter and life lessons along the way. Family was the center of his world, and he devoted himself wholeheartedly to caring for his beloved wife Jane during her long battle with cancer, embodying the true essence of love and support.

Mattie Lillie Louise Sifford Turner

Mother Mattie Lillie Louise Sifford Turner, 93 years young, was born on November 11, 1932, in Ella Holla, Elizabeth Forward Township, PA, to Frank Sifford and Lillie Sifford.

She moved to McKeesport in 1963, where she resided until she moved to Cleveland, Ohio, with her loving family.

Mother Mattie attended Whole Truth Church of God In Christ (C.O.G.I.C) under the leadership of Elder Maurice Wade in Donora, PA. She was a member of Trinity C.O.G.I.C under the leadership of Elder Thomas Hines until he passed, and then under the leadership of Bishop James Foster until he retired. She was a faithful member working in the church, as she served on the Usher Board, doorkeeper of the Lord, Assistant to the District Usher Board, Senior Choir, State Usher Board of First Jurisdiction of Western, PA, Mothers Board, Assistant to Bible Band Bible Study, Kitchen Committee, and Young Women Christian Council.

When Mattie was able, she loved to travel with Bishop Foster to different churches. She enjoyed the youth choirs and listening to the Mississippi Mass Choir featuring Mama Mosie Burks; she would say, “That’s My Girl!” Her favorite bible verse was John 11:35, “Jesus wept.” A few of her favorite things were watching old Westerns, eating cake icing, and drinking a great cup of coffee.

Mattie went on to be with the Lord on her birthday, November 11, 2025. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lillie Sifford; father, Frank Sifford; husband, Rev. Charles C. Turner; and son, I.W. Sifford.

Mother Mattie is survived by her daughter Frankie Lee Sifford and Lillie B Sifford, seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, extended family, and friends

Calvin George

Mr. Calvin George, 90, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, departed this life on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, at Carnegie West Nursing Home in Pittsburgh, PA.

Calvin was born on January 4, 1935, in Large, PA. He was the son of the late Albert Benjamin and Anna Louise Every George. He was a graduate of Clairton High School.  Calvin was the first African American milkman at Menzie Dairy in McKeesport. He was employed for many years at Schneider Dairy Company, and he retired from that company in 1994. Calvin was active in community and political affairs in Duquesne and also active in youth programs for many years. He had a strong affection for young people and advised them when needed.

Calvin was a life-long member of First AME Church of Clairton, and he loved his church. He, along with several church members, was responsible for remodeling the church and also fundraising for the church. Calvin never hesitated to help anyone in need. He had a very generous spirit. He enjoyed travelling and spending time with his family.

Shirley Ann Dickson

Shirley Ann Dickson, age 93 of East McKeesport, passed away peacefully November 14, 2025, during prayer. She was born March 29, 1932 in East McKeesport, the beloved daughter of the late Carl and Julia (Mauger) Larson.

A devoted wife, she shared her life with her beloved late husband, Carl O. Dickson Jr., with whom she built a home filled with warmth, faith, and family. Together, they were active and cherished members of St. John’s Lutheran Church in North Versailles, where their presence and service touched the hearts of many.

She grew up in East McKeesport and later continued to reside there with her husband Carl. In the past two years she resided at Vincentian Home in McCandless, where she was lovingly cared for and remained surrounded by kindness and companionship.

In addition to her parents and her husband she is preceded in death by her sister-in-law Janet Noel and her brother-in-law Bo Swanhart. She is survived by her sister-in-law Nancy Swanhart; nephews Paul Swanhart, Tom Noel, and Ron Noel; nieces Jennifer Mance (D.J.) and Barb Reese (Dennis); as well as a large and loving extended family of grand nieces and nephews, each of whom brought her immense joy.

She will be remembered most for her gentle, caring nature and her deep love for her family. Her kindness, steady presence, and quiet strength will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Cynthia Robin Drake, 66, of McKeesport, PA, passed away peacefully on November 9, 2025. Born on July 4, 1959, in McKeesport, she brought fireworks into the world from day one. She was the cherished daughter of the late Jack Drake and Patricia Stone. She had 3 siblings and was the baby of her sisters. Though known formally as Cynthia, she was best known to loved ones as “Robin.” From an early age, Robin’s light shined bright through her wit, warmth, and undeniable spark.

She was baptized at the Blythdale Ebenezer Baptist Church, and carried her faith with her in everything she did. Cynthia attended McKeesport High School. With ambition and grace, she went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Willard College. Shortly after, she began her lifelong career in healthcare at UPMC, where she served as a dedicated Health Unit Coordinator until her retirement. She touched many lives during her time there, known for her humor, strong work ethic, and the ability to make patients and coworkers feel seen and cared for.

She was born May 24, 1946 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late William and Charlene (Sadler) Wehrer. Mona was a former nurse’s assistant at LifeCare Hospitals, Pittsburgh. She enjoyed her coffee, loved the outdoors, ceramics, playing bingo, and karaoke. Most of all she was a loving mother. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a son John Byers and a sister Judy Cusick. She is survived by her husband of over 22 years Allan J. Dorothy Cheselske, 94, of Rillton, PA, passed away on November 17th, 2025 peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 27th, 1931, in Rillton, PA, to the late Paul and Antoinette Lapcevic. She and her husband, Theodore Franklin Cheselske, were married for 71 years and shared a devotion to family and country. She served in the Ladies’ Auxiliary VFW as both president and treasurer. Ted and Dorothy owned and operated Cheselske's Red and White Market in Rillton, PA for 40 years. Her kindness and generosity were not only evident to those who entered the store, but to anyone who knew her. She cherished time spent in conversations with others, and in quieter times, reading, solving puzzles, baking, and following her friends and family on Facebook.
Dorothy was a devoted mother, sister and wife who found joy in connecting with family and friends. She loved visiting her grandchildren and watching their families grow. She was the storyteller of the family, always ready with a memory of her life and many members in the community. Until the end, she carried the history of Rillton and memories of her family within her heart and mind. 
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore; brothers, William, John, Fred; sisters, Nellie, Mary, Helen, and Violet; and son-in-law, Stan Kirkwood. She is survived by her five children: Dennis (Debbie) Cheselske, Joyce (Jim) Whitford, Thea Kirkwood, Dianne (Bert) Primo, Paula (Kevin) Berezansky; 12 beloved grandchildren: Sasha (Nate) Althouse, Shane Cheselske, Aaron Cheselske, Justin (Sarah) Kirkwood, Nathan (Dana) Whitford, Crystal (Brandaen) Van der Kloet, Julia (Brad) Kimball, Thea (Scott) Leddy, Laura (Travis) Sadoski, Emily (Joel) Walker, Olivia (Chris) Sofo, and Brandon (Hannah) Pushic; 29 great-grandchildren: Mason, Arial, Haven, Henry, Catherine, Frederick, Spencer, Harper, Summer, Ava, Jonathan, Nathaniel, Kayla, Micah, Olivia, Isabella, Gregory, Everett, Lukas, Tyler, Emily, Leto, Ronin, Leo, Jax, Oakley, Haven, Theodore, Teagan and a 30th blessing on the way.

Margaret C. Traud, age 105, of West Mifflin, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025, in Watercrest Senior Living, Myrtle Beach, SC. Born in Duquesne on October 19, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Ilona (Dipko) Merisko.

She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish-St. Joseph Church, Duquesne, their former Christian Mothers and former Duquesne Annex Senior Citizens. She was a major Steelers fan, liked to travel and spend time with her granddaughter and great grandsons. She was a “snowbird,” spending winters in Venice, Fl. Margaret truly was a “Rosie Riveter,” working at Christy Park inspecting bombs. 

She was the wife of the late Amos Traud, who passed away in 1982; mother of Sandra (late Frank “Frayo”) Bergel of Suffield, OH and Gerald (Mary) Traud of Calabash, NC; and grandmother of Jessica (Dean) Miller and their sons, Declan and Killian Miller. She is also survived by her step-grandchildren, Cindy Dollins, James Brown, Carolyn Wahley, and Mattie Sauls; step-great great grandchild, Rosalie Swiger; and numerous nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, Mary (late Joe) Frinsco, Helen (late George) Baran, Michael (late Mary) Merisko, John (late Ann) Merisko, Joseph (late Nellie) Merisko, Paul (late Mary) Merisko, George Merisko and Albert Merisko.

Meliss A. “Missy” Selvaggio, age 65, of West Mifflin, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2025. Born in Pittsburgh on November 22, 1959, she was the daughter of the late James Robson Williams and Catherine (Gruber) Williams.

She was a hairdresser and former co-owner of Dolly Allen Beauty Shop of West Mifflin. She also taught at Allegheny Beauty Academy in Dravosburg. She liked gardening, playing backgammon, decorating for the holidays, cooking and animals. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandson, Henry, and she loved her cat, Penelope.

Missy is the loving wife of John Selvaggio for 39 years; mother of Lauren (Bill) Lesko of Pleasant Hills and Eric (Anthony Stotlemyer) Selvaggio of West Mifflin; grandmother of Henry Lesko; and sister of Jamie (Lisa) Williams of Chandler, AZ. She is also survived by numerous cousins.

Richard C. Morley, age 90 of Ardara, passed away peacefully on November 15, 2025, at his home while surrounded by his family. He was born on May 7, 1935, in Barnesboro, PA, a son of the late Arthur and Arvella Sheets Morley. Prior to retirement, he was a School Teacher in the East Allegheny School District, a member of the East Allegheny Education Association, PA State Education Association and the National Education Association. Richard was an avid outdoorsman, and he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a US Army Veteran having served during the Korean War, a social member of the Fairmont-Hahntown VFD, and the Franklin Township Pointer & Setter Club. In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by one brother, Arthur Morley, and one sister, Betty Harvey. Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Bernice Sabella Morley, two daughters, Diana Ruthardt (husband Fred) and Toni Younkin (husband Barry), six grandchildren, Paige Secosky, Joey Secosky, Patrick Habarka, Brennan Ruthardt, Logan Ruthardt, and Caleb Ruthardt.
